  ***** and **** from RebateRentals.com spent 1/2 hour answering my questions about Gardens and helping me with my potential move from *** to ***. They are both wonderful and knowledgeable. If I had relied on any negative comments posted, they would have been misleading in my opinion

  I responded to a property rental ad and was contacted by *****************, a licensed real estate broker associate. Ming texted me asking to set up an appointment to see the property. I asked her if the property was pet friendly. She asked for more info on the pet. Sent info and pic of my dog. She said dog would be approved with a non-refundable fee. I agreed and called her to schedule the appointment. Told her that I was still living in GA but my mom would be able to view the property with me on Facetime. She agreed to meet my mom at the property for the viewing. My mom arrived with my young nephew to view the property and Ming was immediately short with them and rudely ushered them in to the rental unit to view it while she waited outside without guiding them or making her self available to answer any questions regarding the unit. There were a few areas of concern within the unit that we had questions about so my mom went back outside to ask Ming to come in to address them. Ming was reluctant to come in and seemed bothered that we had questions regarding the unit. She specificially told us they we would NEVER be able to open ANY of the windows in the rental unit for any reason and if she ever caught us with the windows open she would immediately evict us. When we proceeded to ask why she rudely told us that this unit was not going to be a good fit for us and that we should look for some place else to live. Ming was very welcoming and kind with me via texts and phone calls but when my mom and nephew arrived at the property and she saw that they were African-Americans her behavior towards us immediately changed. Her refusal to rent the property to me, even though me and my husband were well qualifed to rent it is text book housing discrimination based on our race. It is illegal to refuse to rent housing to someone based on their race and even to steer them to other types of properties. I will be filing a complaint with the ************************* and the ***************

  Ms. ****** perceived reluctance that you observed has to do with Covid. What you failed to disclose in your statements was that **** was wearing two (2) face masks which should have been a demonstrative and provide some situational context. Her husband has organ failure and is on a dialysis machine 13 hours a day, every day, and is particularly vulnerable with a very weak immune system. **** is a private person and moreover sharing her personal problems with you is not particularly professional nor easy for her. You requested the home to be professionally managed for which Ms. **** disclosed to you that the home is managed by the property owner which was a concern for you given your stated history with prior landlords. You requested several items to be addressed within the home and Ms. **** advised you that the property owner is the decision maker and that she could not make any personal guarantees as to your requests as that was not her place to make such representations. ****** role was to allow you to preview the home in person so that you could make an informed decision if the home was a good fit for you.
