****** **** at New World Auto is a fishy character. He knowingly sold me a car with a major oil leak coming from the timing chain cover. I only had the car for a week until the oil leak caused the harmonic balancer to fail, in return shredding the serpentine belt. ****** (sales man) claims a mechanic looked over the car and reported nothing wrong. It is very apparent that there’s been an oil leak for a while though (I’ll attach photos.) The car was towed to a Toyota dealer and is requiring over $3k in repairs. Either the crank or cam shaft seal has failed and the whole timing chain and everything needs to come off. My cousin who lives local reached out to ****** to see what we can do to resolve this and he laughed saying it was sold “as is” and that it’s my fault that I did not get a warranty. I didn’t even have the car a total of 10 days before this occurred. ****** was acting very childish and I am very surprised he is in the position he’s in. This is very unsettling. I am a 16 year old girl and he took advantages of me. My father just passed and I really had no one to look over the car and trusted them. My cousin is located in Orlando (dealership in Jacksonville) and will now be helping me. The dealer is denying any responsibility and I believe this big of an issue should be presented to the buyer. It may have been sold “as is” but they confirmed it was mechanically sound before buying. And it clearly was not.Business Response

I bought a car that was financed through publix credit union. It was a 2016 hyundai sonata limited. Everything checked out clean title I test drove it and I didn't even buy the car the same day. I payed for the car they had me do a review right after everything was done and I drove off. This car had 1 year warranty and was supposed to be in perfect condition. In less than 24 hours the check engine light came on and the car stopped in the middle of me driving on the highway. I called them and they had me drive it to them even though I didn't think I was gonna make it because they told me even though I can go to any certified mechanic they might scam me and use up my warranty if they charge unnecessary fees. I thankfully made it there and they said it was the knock sensor and that they fixed it right after I left my car completely stopped on the highway in the middle of driving and started to have a burning smell. They to*** the car back to them and he let me know it needed a new engine and said they can get one from the junk yard even though my car had warranty but did not fix my car or give me back my car to take it somewhere else. They forced me to do an exchange or said If I didn't I would be without a car. They ended up exchanging me a car that was not equal value or mileage saying it was like a brand new a car but they didn't want to tell my bank or insurance. She copied all paperwork from the last car including my insurance telling me she does this all the time she's doing me a favor and trust her my bank will approve everything. That ended up being a lie and she had me sign a false bill of sails and had me leave without insurance on the exchange car. They refused to return the bank the check because they did not want to go through the same process of getting a new check and everything. The exchange car was now in my possession but the dealership and bank was in a debate because she did something and told me something that was false. But they did not want to give me back the old car so the bank agreed to the exchange if they lowered the price on the exchange car because she lied saying it was the same value and had me sign the exact same papers I signed for the Santa Fe. This car also began to act up in less than 24 hours and the check engine light, break light, oil light came on and the car would start weird, they told me this car was like a brand new car with a new engine just coming from hyundai and wouldn't have no issues which was false. They said I could bring it to them when they came back from wherever they were but kept pressing for me to sign a new bill of sales with the correct price. Later that day the brakes failed and the car was involved in an accident. They have now threatened me, accused me of stealing, saying they will place a warrant for my arrest, saying I blew the first car engine, saying there's nothing wrong with these cars, saying they will ruin my life and make things bad for me, calling my phone non-stop on Saturday and overall been trying to change the whole story. I am looking to file a lawsuit for scam and fraud for selling me a bad car and not following up with the warranty. Misrepresentation saying the first car was in perfect condition but engine failing the same day and saying the other car was like a brand new car and also perfect but brakes failing causing an accident and engine, oil, and brakes light turning on in the car right after leaving the dealer. Scam and much more.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Less than 24 hours of having the vehicle the check engine light came on and I brought it to them the next day to maintenance it and right after they maintenance my vehicle the engine blew 10 minutes later. They misrepresented the vehicle and also damaged my vehicle and after stating the vehicle would need a new engine they refused to follow up with the warranty. After inspecting my vehicle they said it would take a year to fix even though I stated hyundai would take 2-3 weeks and it would be covered under my warranty. They denied me to bring the car to Hyundai and told me that I either leave there building with no car at all or get an exchange car. So because they refused to give me the car back I had no choice but to do the exchange. This was not a loaner vehicle this exchange was for me to be the owner of a completely new vehicle. They said my vehicle would take a year to fix and they refused further work on it. *** than had me tricked by doing a improper exchange for a car that thousands of dollars less but told and charged me the exact same price as my sonata. My bank than protected me and denied the exchange and caught them committing fraud by exchanging me a car they clearly know nothing about saying its an equal value exchange when it was not. There employee ****** confirmed the value to the bank which was $1400 less than my vehicle who than let *** know but she stated she did not know the value of the vehicle after she told me it was the sane price as the sonata. She had me leave with a contract that was incorrect and not valid with no dealer signature on it along with copied documents including my insurance that she never had me update and told me to wait. I brought awareness to the engine having issues and lights turning on in the car hours before the accident. They are now tryna cover up there mistake because they gave me a vehicle for free since new documents will have to be signed with the correct information so I cab be liable for everything when they are at fault. I never told them by bank was updating anything the bank spoke with them directly so I don’t know why she would lie. Neither did a mechanic check the exchange vehicle or its brakes that is another lie. It was to*** to a mechanic but they never checked anything because it wasn’t there long enough and plus they wanted they car back. They continue to lie, threaten, and harass me and on April 2nd at 10:15 am *** ******** called me off ****** phone admitting to selling me a trash car admitting that she misrepresented the car and making her liable for product liability and theft for refusing to give me a car that I already paid for with my bank. I am doing what I need to take action and protect myself as well as finding out there is no Officer ****** ******* connected to this case.
