DO NOT ADMIT AT VIAMAR. It is dangerous, abusive, and needs to be shut down by the health department. If I could give less than 1 star I would. My partner was at Viamar during the month of June 2024. He went to Viamar as it was the only residential program that would accept his ********* He was misgendered from the first moment. Some of the 'therapy' he received included being forced to write his own eulogy and have someone pretend to be me and read it while he had to 'pretend to be dead' while lying on the floor. He has chronic medical issues, including heart problems. He had symptoms characteristic of a heart attack (racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, pain on left side of shoulder/chest/arms, numbness in left arm and leg, feeling hot) and told staff he needed to go to an ER and was refused medical attention (we are in the process of reporting the facility to the ************* of ******** for malpractice).Despite staff knowing that he would need to start eating again gradually to avoid illness, they forced too much food on him and he now has severe anemia (possibly needing transfusions) and refeeding syndrome, which is potentially fatal.Beyond that, staff regularly withheld his mail, and told him that nobody was writing to him because he was a "fuck up" and "everyone wanted [him] dead". Meanwhile, they were telling me nothing about his treatment and telling him that I said I didn't care and was going to break up with him. In both cases it was a lie.Now that he has come home, staff have retained some of his property and are threatening to charge his card shipping to return it to him (after first denying that they had it until legal action was mentioned).I am grateful that they were able to get him to a place where he was eating enough that a PHP program would admit him, but beyond that, this place needs to be shut down.
