Today I discovered that FPL is illegally installing its SurgeShield product without homeowners' knowledge or consent and then charging them for it. On May 10, 2022 at 9:13 AM, an FPL technician came to my door and rang the doorbell repeatedly until 9:16 AM. I did not answer because it appeared to be a solicitation visit and I was not interested in purchasing any additional services from FPL. Instead of leaving my premises, the technician went to the back of my home, disconnected my electricity, and installed FPL's SurgeShield. When I went outside to inquire what was happening, the technician told me that because I did not answer the door, he just "went ahead and installed it." When I asked him why he did that when I clearly did not order the service, he could not give me a sensible answer. Luckily, I recorded the entire interaction.Business response

I received a letter on 10/20/21 from Florida Power and Light Energy Services DBA Home Serve regarding a water line warranty in the amount of ****** which was billed to my Florida Power and Light electric bill. The service agreement number from Home Serve is XXXXXXXX. I never applied for this warranty and I do not believe Home Serve is a legitimate business. I contacted Home Serve and tried to cancel the warranty. I spoke to "*****" and she would not provide any information about this issue. ***** instructed me to contact Florida Power and Light.Business response

I signed up for the Fpl home warranty through something they sent me in the mail. The guy who signed me up gave me false information according to everyone who has now answered the phone when I try to get my warranty in place. I told them the guy gave me the exact info that they sent me in the mail and they are claiming the mailer does not say what it says. I have it with me still and am reading it directly to them. They claim they are open 24/7 yet that is also false and now are telling me they don't do services on the weekend. They also say same day services and it has been 4 days of me trying to get service and they are sending me through hoops and saying they do not have anyone else I can speak with and they need me to keep sending them more photos. It's a fridge there are only 4 exterior sides and the inside and they are saying they need more details to help me and make sure it is covered even though they have the make and model. I have asked for a manager multiple timesBusiness response
