I was pressured by Achieve Test prep to enroll in their classes. They did everything through the phone. I was looking for an institution to further my nursing career. Achieve claimed they can help me with my prerequisite. I only took one class which is Chemistry, but didn't complete it. The problem is , The professor was from *******, and always having problems with zoom call. , or cancelled classes. She would cancel class, then she would come back and continue with classes , and expecting us to watch the videos. Ina message she will say, the class will be rescheduled. I messaged them to withdraw or find a professor from ***. Their replied is that, I have to ask for help, which doesn't help. They still collect money from me every week. Even though I asked them to drop out. I emailed them, and they said they will only cancel if I talk to them on the phone, they can't cancel through email. It went for couple months, then they said, if you want to cancel you have to pay $2, 000 + . But I have to call them to do that. Then they messaged me and said I am still in classes, and I have to pay every week. I changed my Bank account. Now they said if I can't pay every week, I can't access the classes I told them I am done with them. One class doesn't worth *****+ dollars. Can you guys help me to stop calling me and I felt like they are scamming me. When I called to talk to someone is always over seas. I read online a lot of people having problems with them. I want them not to call me any more and not taking money from me. I am done with them. I paid so much for one class that I don't even complete. Also the classes don't worth any credits. So why waste money on those classes where I can get classes at a community college here. I was tricked to this and I want them out and not contacting me or collecting money from me. And I already paid and still want $2000 + to pay inorder to cancel. please save me from Achieve Test Prep. Your help is very much appreciated! ******Business Response

Dear ******,
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. Were truly sorry to hear that your experience with Achieve Test Prep did not meet your expectations. Please know that we take all customer feedback seriously and are committed to resolving issues in a fair, respectful, and transparent manner.
Enrollment and Communication
We understand your concern regarding the enrollment process being conducted over the phone. As part of our onboarding procedure, all agreements are reviewed and electronically signed while the student is on the line, with the session recorded to ensure transparency and accountability. That said, we appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve our communication and processes.
Course Experience and Technical Difficulties
We sincerely regret that your Chemistry class was affected by technical difficulties and disruptions. We recognize how frustrating this can be, especially when pursuing a professional goal like advancing your nursing career. While occasional technical issues may arise in any virtual learning environment, our goal is always to minimize them and offer alternatives such as recorded sessions and rescheduling. We are actively reviewing your concerns regarding the instructor and connection issues to ensure improvements are made.
Tuition and Cancellation Process
We do have a formal process in place for withdrawing from the program, should you choose to proceed in that direction. Like many educational institutions, our process requires a phone conversation and a signed document to verify identity, confirm the request, and clearly explain any remaining obligations.
We understand that navigating this can feel overwhelming, and we want to support you through it. Thats why we strongly encourage you to reach out to our Customer Success team at ************ or ************************************************************************************. Our team is here to listen, answer your questions, and work collaboratively with you toward a fair and workable resolution.
We value you as a student and would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to help bring this matter to a positive close.Initial Complaint

I signed up for what I was told was an *** to RN bridge after some aggressive advisors from achieve convinced me that this was the fastest and easiest wat to reach my goal of becoming an **. After some paperwork and a very confusing orientation, I quickly realized that this program would not fit my lifestyle and was no more than overpriced test preparation. I was never enrolled in any school, and would receive no actual credits toward my degree, I would just be prepared to test out of several courses which may help shorten my time once enrolled in any school actual legitimate nursing program. I attempted a class, but the format was very difficult to use, and I struggled to follow along. Once i realized all of this, I reached out to advisors and explained my hesitation to pay 15 k and not receive a degree, when i could go to a trade school for the same price and finish the program with my degree. I was advised that the paperwork I was rushed through during my onboard has bound me to these payments and it was non negotiable. I made it very clear at that time that I was not interested in this program, and Id be pursuing a trade program or community college to reach my goal. They offered no solution, only to continue with the program which would take triple the amount of time, and double the cost. Since this occurred Ive received many threatening calls and correspondence demanding almost $20,000. Why take advantage of nurses who are dedicating their lives to helping people?Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. ********** concerns. We regret that she did not find the program aligned with her expectations and appreciate the chance to clarify the scope of our services and the history of her account.
Ms. ********* enrolled in Achieve Test Prep on February 17, 2020, and electronically signed a detailed Enrollment Agreement and Retail Installment Contract, which outlined the nature of our services. Achieve is a test preparation company that supports students in testing out of college courses via standardized exams such as CLEP and DSST. We are not a college or degree-granting institution, and we do not guarantee credit transfer or school admissions, which is clearly disclosed during enrollment and in all documentation.
Following enrollment, Ms. ********* participated in two courses. During this time, she had access to our instructors, online resources, and student support services. When she later expressed that the program was not a good fit, we worked with her to explore alternative options, including financial relief. However, her request to cancel occurred after the 72-hour cancellation window outlined in her contract, and after services had been rendered, resulting in a remaining financial obligation as agreed.
Despite our efforts to work with Ms. ********** her account ultimately defaulted. As standard practice, and in accordance with her agreement, the account was referred to a third-party collections agency. We understand her frustration and remain committed to reviewing any concerns regarding communication tone or conduct. If she has experienced any unprofessional behavior from our team or affiliated partners, we welcome that feedback so it can be properly investigated.
While we stand by the terms of the agreement, we are still open to constructive dialogue and resolution. Ms. ********* or her representative may contact us directly at ************** to discuss potential next steps.Initial Complaint

We had signed up this company, thinking that we can go from a *** to an RN in a year, we had realized that this is untrue as they had told us, if we talk to any other colleges "do not tell them that we are learning with achive" we had tried to enroll and they told us that we had to finish paying off our $12,000 with our remaining balance of $9000 as this is a part of the policy.Business Response

Dear BBB Representative,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the concerns raised by Ms. ******* *****.
Ms. ***** enrolled in our program with the goal of advancing her nursing career. Achieve Test Prep provides academic preparation services designed to support students in earning college credit through test-out exams, which may then be applied toward degree requirements at colleges or universities that accept such credit. We are not a college, and the acceptance of credit-by-exam is ultimately determined by the receiving institution.
We understand that Ms. ***** has experienced challenges in her progression and has decided to explore cancellation. Our records indicate that our team has been in regular contact with her and continues to assist her through the appropriate process. Additionally, we are aware of complications she encountered with third-party testing services due to remote proctoring protocols, which are governed by external organizations and not within Achieves control.
While we regret any frustration this has caused, we remain committed to working with Ms. ***** to ensure she fully understands her options and the appropriate next steps. Our goal is to support her in making informed decisions and ensure a smooth resolution process aligned with the terms of her agreement.
Please let us know if any further information is needed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:ConsumerMost Recent MessageDate Sent: 5/12/2025 6:34:07 PMWe thank you for reaching back out to us. we just recently had a talk with achieve test prep and we are obligated to pay 30% of the loan for canceling. We do not understand why we are obligated to pay this 30% as everything that we signed up for happened within less than an hour and we had no time to read nor process anything. The remaining balance according to climb is $7000 and Achieve had told us our 30% canceling fee had came to right under $4000 with we dont understand why its so expensive. When when joining with achieve we were not aware of this 30% cancellation fee. We are not saying we are not willing to pay, but we do not understand why we have to pay this much money with no results on their part. This achieved test prep is 200 times as expensive as our community college and as a single mother, I cannot afford it with no results being seen. We are please asking advice on what you think would be best for both parties, as we do not know what to do because it almost feels like obligation. We can either continue our schooling throughout my whole entire nursing career with active and only pay $7000 or we can quit and pay the $3000. And along side of this, Achieve is only to help with my preparation too nursing school and It is not the actual schooling. We signed up for this company because we had trust within it too see good results. We had signed up, thinking my daughter would go from a *** to a RN in less then a year and she has not been given a single credit as she has been learning with achieve test prep for last 7 months. With no results from this test prep center we are not happy with the amount of money that they are asking us to pay.
Sincerely,

Dear BBB Representative,
Thank you for the opportunity to provide an updated response regarding the matter raised by Ms. ********* style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: "Segoe UI", helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">
Following her recent communication, wed like to clarify that we have already spoken directly with the customer and reached an agreement to support her through the next steps. Specifically:
Achieve has offered to cover the cost of a CLEP exam retake to assist the student in achieving a passing score and receiving credit for completed coursework. This offer was made in good faith and as a gesture of support, despite exam outcomes being dependent on third-party testing and individual student performance.
Regarding the cancellation policy, we have thoroughly reviewed the customers onboarding process. The cancellation terms were not only provided in writing but were also read to the customer word-for-word during the enrollment call. The customer was explicitly offered the opportunity to ask questions, take time to review, and follow up before signing. The withdrawal request was submitted well after the initial exam attempt and, per policy, after the no-penalty cancellation period.
We understand the customers financial concerns and have remained transparent about her options throughout. Our team has been in contact, explaining her remaining choices, including the opportunity to continue with support or to formally exit the program.
We remain committed to resolving this matter professionally and encourage the customer to reach out directly if she would like further clarification or assistance.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:I am sorry to bother you again with my concern, I am still not happy with the results from achieve test prep. The day of the enrollment I have no recollection of the terms and agreements being sent out to me and being talked to about. As a human, I cannot remember every little detail that they said, especially since I do not have a recording machine like they do.
I know that I had been promised that my daughter would go from a *** to an RN in one year. Along with this my daughter is a minor and according to their contract, someone under 18 cannot sign. When scrolling through the contract, we saw absolutely no signatures and only initials which anyone could do in my name.
Our other concern is there asking us to pay 30% of all of the entire course, but we roughly owe about $7000. The calculations that we came up with for the 30% of our remaining fees is $2216 and the amount that they came up with was a little bit over $3000 roughly.I dont understand why I have to pay 30% interest of the loan along with the money that I put in as we put in a $2000 down payment. With all of this money spent, there were still no results as mentioned and my daughter dose not have one credit to her hand.
We are looking to reach out to the board of nursing and get their outlook on this because we are not sure if they are even an accredited college as on their website it says they are not. Please from the bottom of our heart can you help us get to the bottom of this because I do not agree with the amount they are asking me to pay.. I will agree to pay 30% of the remaining balance but I see no point in having to pay what they are asking us, as it is just throwing money away with absolutely no results being seen.I feel like this is a trap with no way to get out of it.
Sincerely,
******* *****Business Response

Dear BBB Representative
Thank you once again for the opportunity to respond to ****************** continued concerns. We value all feedback and take all complaints seriously, particularly when they involve the expectations and satisfaction of our customers.
Wed like to address Ms. ****** most recent points and provide further clarification:
1. Nature of the Program and Expectations
We understand that Ms. ***** believed her daughter would go from *** to RN in under a year. However, we have consistently communicatedboth in writing and during enrollmentthat Achieve Test Prep is not a college and does not ***** degrees or credits directly. Our role is to provide academic preparation and support services that help students test out of college courses via third-party exams (such as CLEP or DSST). The acceptance of such exam credit is determined solely by the receiving institution.
This is also outlined in our enrollment documents and during the onboarding session.
2. Enrollment Process and Age Concerns
Our records show that the enrollment process was conducted with full disclosures, including a word-for-word reading of our cancellation policy. Additionally:
The adult **** *****) was the signer on the agreement.
While her daughter was the intended beneficiary of the services, the financial responsibility and agreement were made in the name of the adult responsible party, as our policies prohibit direct enrollment of minors.
If Ms. ***** believes the contract was completed in error or without her full authorization, we are happy to provide a detailed review of the enrollment documentation, including IP tracking and system logs of the signed agreement.
3. Cancellation Fee Calculation
The cancellation fee is based on 30% of the total contract amount, not just the remaining loan balance. This policy was disclosed during enrollment and included in the signed agreement. The purpose of the 30% policy is to cover the cost of administrative setup, curriculum access, scheduling, support staff, and instructor hours already allocated.
While we understand Ms. ***** has calculated 30% of the remaining balance (approximately $2,200), our policywhich she agreed tocalculates the cancellation fee based on the entire contracted value of services (i.e., approximately $12,000). Therefore, the assessed fee of roughly $3,600 is correct.
We also note that the customer made a down payment of $2,000, which is factored into the total balance owed.
4. Credits and Progress
We acknowledge Ms. ****** frustration regarding the lack of earned college credit thus far. However, exam outcomes are dependent on the students preparation and performance, and we do not control third-party proctoring services or institutional transfer policies. Despite this, we offered to pay for a CLEP exam retake at no cost to the student as a goodwill gesture.
5. Accreditation and Transparency
Achieve Test Prep is fully transparent about its non-college status and accreditation standing. We do not present ourselves as a degree-*****ing institution, and all marketing materials and enrollment documents reflect that we are a test preparation service. The burden of credit acceptance remains with the receiving college or university, and we encourage all students to confirm transfer policies before enrolling.
Final Offer for ResolutionAlthough we stand by the terms of the agreement, and the cancellation fee as calculated, we are still willing to work with Ms. ************* one of the following options:
Discounted Cancellation Fee:
As a final gesture of goodwill, we are prepared to reduce the total cancellation fee to $2,200, in alignment with Ms. ****** proposed amount. This would settle the matter in full and terminate all further obligations.
Continued Program Participation:Ms. ***** may continue the program and receive full support from our instructors and staff, including the previously offered free CLEP retake, and resume working toward transferable credit opportunities.
We encourage Ms. ***** to contact our customer service team directly should she wish to proceed with either option. We are committed to resolving this matter respectfully and professionally.Initial Complaint

I decided to not do the program I was told ahead of time that If I couldn't do it or decided I didnt want too continue or had second thoughts. ****** **** as I dropped out before a completion of a course it was okay I was repeatedly assured I could drop out the program as long as I didnt reach a certain number of courses I decided it wasnt for me and called to drop out after I was told I could. They then informed me I reached the required courses. I signed up for a match class and didnt even finish it and it was withing the requirements. They then informed me their mandatory Orientation was considered a class and I should of read the paper work.I asked ahead of time and was never told that once that if I take a mandatory 1 day Orientation that, that would be be considered a 21 771 dollar class and a loan would be out in my name. This is very deceptive by them and just a way to gain money off people who change their minds. This is 100% a scheme to defraud American tax payers like myself. This is against federal law as well Federal laws prohibit defrauding consumers through unfair or deceptive acts or practices in commerce, primarily enforced by the ************************ (***) through the ************************ Act (****). The ****'s Section 5 explicitly prohibits unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce. Additional federal laws, like the Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act, focus on specific areas like telemarketing fraud. This is 100 % fraud and done very unethically. This has dropped my credit score over 150 points and I totally forget about them or what happened Because The last person I spokr with said they'd figure it out and I never heard back and figured it was taken care of because then covid happened and the world was about as I am a nurse and lost friends and family during that time and worked every ******* I saw A 21k debt in my name and called the collector and sure enough it was themBusiness Response

Dear *******
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. We are sympathetic to the concerns raised and appreciate the chance to provide clarity and factual context.
When you enrolled in our program, you signed an Enrollment Agreement that clearly outlined the terms of participation, including our refund policy, withdrawal procedures, and the financial responsibilities associated with starting the program. As part of that agreement, you acknowledged that orientation and Achieve 101 together count as a course, and that beginning coursework triggers financial responsibility.
Also, you did not just attend orientationyou also registered for and had access to two full courses. At that point, you had the opportunity to test out the program and participate in live instruction and support services. After that, you stopped participating in the program but did not submit a formal withdrawal request, as required in the signed agreement.
We made several attempts to reach you, including sending a letter in ************************************** addition, we extended a written offer to reduce your balance, which you did not respond to or accept. Weve always been willing to work with students who reach out and communicate with us directly.
We want to be clear: we are not in the business of scamming or deceiving anyone. Your financial obligation was based on services you accessed and agreed to under a signed contract. Choosing not to complete the program does not remove that responsibility. Rejecting the balance after receiving services and access to the program is not a matter of fraudits a matter of honoring an agreement.
If you would like to revisit settlement options or discuss repayment plans, were still happy to assist. Please feel free to reach out to our support team.
We eagerly anticipate further dialogue with you to resolve this matter. You can reach us at **************.Initial Complaint

Dear ********,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns with us. We are deeply sorry to hear about your mothers health condition, and we truly understand how challenging this situation must be for you.
We want to clarify a few points regarding your withdrawal request:
Enrollment Terms:
When you enrolled, our education advisor provided a detailed overview of the program, including the terms of the agreement. These terms were discussed in a comprehensive one-hour call and were also provided in writing for your review and signature.
Withdrawal Policy:
We understand that personal circumstances can change unexpectedly, and we sincerely empathize with your situation. However, your request for withdrawal was made outside of the allowable period covered under our buyers remorse clause. I enrolled at this school after much pressure and promises from them. I attended a class, I found their method to not be useful at all for me. I made a phone call to an administrator at the school named Sashame. We agreed upon a settlement, she told me that after the this was paid, the contract would be canceled. They proactively offered a reduction to 350 in good faith when I requested to withdraw Three years later, all of a sudden and without warning, they have reported me for non payment, not honoring their original agreement to settle with me. I agreed to a settlement plan to resolve my account, which was a clear compromise on both parties. They are now reporting the full amount not honoring their settlement. This is a a breach of their reduced balance agreement. Do not do business with this school. They have over 93 complaints similar to mine, and are unethical and out for your money.Business Response

Dear Anouk,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. We genuinely appreciate the opportunity to address this matter, and were sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our program. We take your feedback seriously and aim to clarify the situation to ensure transparency.
We understand that the situation at the time may have caused some confusion, and we would like to provide some clarity. The $350 payment you made was for resuming your course. At the time, your account was delinquent due to nonpayment, and we were willing to let you resume your studies through this payment. This was part of a new arrangement that allowed you to continue with your studies.
This payment was unrelated to withdrawing from the program, and it was not a settlement to cancel your original contract.
Regarding your claim of a breach of agreement, we would like to assure you that the terms of our original agreement were clearly outlined, and there were no terms set to cancel the contract upon the payment of the $350. As such, there was no reduction of the balance or cancellation of the original agreement that was applicable, but instead, the payment was part of a continuation of the course.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We encourage you to contact our Customer Support team to review your account in detail and address any discrepancies with you.
We understand the frustration this situation may cause, and we would be happy to work with you to review and resolve any confusion regarding your account. Rescheduling courses to ensure you started from the beginning, rather than joining mid-session.
Re-enrolling you in a course to provide another opportunity to meet the required attendance and progress criteria for refund eligibility.
Adjusting your payment plan, resetting your portal access, and updating course registrations to ensure continued progress.

I signed up with Achieve due to their advertising about helping with college credits. Once signed up I never got anyone that spoke great english. So I spent most of my time trying to make out what was being said. Then when it came time to take the first test nothing worked. By the time the very non English speaking woman got the program to work I was beyond frustrated that I could not concentrate on the test. I called to cancel with them. Not only did they receive all the payments I made up to that point. But now I am stuck paying over ***** dollars for breach of contract.Business Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. Your feedback is valuable as we continue to improve our products and services.
At Achieve, we value diversity and inclusion, which is why we hire representatives from various countries around the world. Our representatives are carefully selected through a thorough recruitment process, which includes language proficiency assessments to ensure they meet the required communication standards. We take pride in hiring individuals who demonstrate strong English skills and are committed to providing excellent customer service.
After reviewing the recording of your interaction with our representative and the instructor, we believe that both individuals communicated clearly in English and provided thorough explanations of the process. We strive to maintain a high standard of communication, and based on our review, we feel confident that the interaction was handled professionally. We understand that communication can sometimes be affected by accents or regional dialects, which is a natural part of working in a diverse, global environment. We are always open to improving our services and welcome any specific concerns you'd like to discuss further.
Regarding your cancellation request, we follow a clear process for cancellations and refunds, as outlined in the terms and conditions that accompany our service. On August 7th, 2024, you signed and agreed to the Terms and Conditions with Achieve. As stated in the agreement, you had 24 hours to review and cancel the program for a full refund. We offer various financial options to all our customers and strive to present these clearly so you can make an informed decision. Since you requested to withdraw from the program on November 18th, 2024, this means you exceeded the time limit for a full refund and are now proceeding with your OB payments.
We are committed to supporting our customers and ensuring their success. If you have any additional questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our customer service team. We will do our best to assist you in resolving the matter.

I am rejecting this response because: I was not made aware of the strong accents that would be a barrier. I am willing to solve this issue where it stands. With no further payments required. You not only received sufficient money to cover the ONLY class I participated in but now I feel like I am being punished for not being able to understand the accent barrier. As well as the fact that the one and only test I was able to take was a complete mess from start to finish.
Sincerely,

Dear *******,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We understand your frustration and appreciate the opportunity to address this matter.
At Achieve, we have a diverse team that includes U.S.-based instructors and staff to support our students. We strive to accommodate different preferences and communication needs, and had we been made aware of your concerns earlier, we would have been happy to assist in any way possible. Regarding the financial obligations, your cancellation terms were clearly outlined in the agreement you signed, and we have adhered to those terms accordingly. We consider this matter closed per the agreed terms.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us at ************************************************************************************ or call **************.

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to ********************* concerns regarding her experience with Achieve Test Prep. While we regret that she is dissatisfied, we would like to clarify the facts of the case and provide documentation to support our position.
1. Program Transparency & Credit Transfer
Achieve Test Prep does not claim to be a college; we are a test-prep organization designed to help students earn credits through the CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) and other credit-by-exam methods. Ms. ********* successfully passed her Humanities, Sociology, Introduction to Psychology, and Developmental Psychology CLEP exams, confirming that she attained the promised credits through our program.
Students are responsible for verifying whether their chosen college accepts these credits. This is clearly stated in our enrollment agreement, marketing materials, and onboarding process.
2. Program Duration & Structure
Ms. ********* alleges that our program misrepresented itself as "accelerated." However, our prep courses operate on an average duration of 56 weeks, as opposed to the 16-week semester required in traditional college settings. This is evident in her attendance and course completion records.
She attended and completed multiple courses with us before requesting withdrawal. Her claim that she was misled is inconsistent with her active participation and completion of several courses.
3. Moodle Issue & Word Document Submission
Ms. ********* expressed frustration over Moodle progress tracking and an instructor requiring her to submit assignments in Word format. It is important to clarify:
- Converting a document to Word does not require any special subscription; this is a basic computer task that can be done for free using ****** Docs or other free tools.
- When this concern was raised, Achieve worked with her to switch instructors and accommodate her request.
At no point did this issue prevent her from completing the coursework or passing exams.
4. Financial Agreement & Chargeback Threats
Ms. ********* initially owed a significantly higher balance but was proactively offered a $4,000 reduction in good faith when she requested to withdraw. She agreed to a settlement plan to resolve her account, which was a clear compromise on our end.
She is now threatening to charge back her payments, which would be considered a breach of her reduced balance agreement. If she proceeds with a chargeback, Achieve Test Prep will reinstate the full balance owed and pursue the matter legally.
5. No Contract Breach on Our End
At no point did Achieve Test Prep violate its contract with Ms. ********** She:
- Enrolled in the program voluntarily.
- Attended multiple courses and completed several with passing CLEP exam results.
- Accepted a lowered balance when requesting withdrawal.
- Was given a clear cancellation policy per the signed enrollment agreement.
Her claims of fraud and misrepresentation are unfounded, and her records contradict them.Final Position & Resolution
While we empathize with Ms. ********** dissatisfaction, her claims are not supported by facts. Achieve Test Prep has:- Provided her with the test-prep resources and support needed to pass multiple CLEP exams.
- Delivered classes that followed the advertised accelerated timeline (5-6 weeks).
- Reduced her balance significantly when she requested to withdraw, as a goodwill gesture.
- Addressed her Moodle and instructor concerns through multiple accommodations.
Given this, Achieve Test Prep will not issue any further refunds. **************** proceeds with a chargeback or continues to make false claims, we will pursue the full balance owed as per the original enrollment agreement.
We appreciate the BBBs time and review of this matter and are happy to provide any additional supporting documentation if needed.Best Regards,
