This business located funds that were due to us and collected them. They contacted us and told us they would give us a percentage of the funds. That was over a year ago and we are still trying to get the money from them. They have made many excuses. We contacted them in Sept. and was told they had sent the check a year ago, but since we had never received it they would send out another one. Since then they have made excuse after excuse and lied time after time about the check being sent.

I signed an agreement with Gum Financial to recover unclaimed funds. I know Gum received the funds but have not remitted to me. Phone is not answered. Emails are sometimes answered with false promises. I have received no money.

I was contacted by GUM Financial, (Get Unclaimed Money) in 2022. They said the Arizona Bankruptcy Court owed me $187. They said they would get the money for me for their fee of 30%. I agreed, filled out all the paperwork, got documents notarized, and mailed it all back. This paperwork came in spurts over a period of two years. I just called the Arizona Bankruptcy Court and gave them the Case Number and they told me that the money was dispersed to GUM Financial in September of 2023. They never sent me my share. I have left at least 25 voice mails over the past year and 20 emails and they have never responded.

A payment was issued for ***************************. It was not negotiated.  We have contacted **************** to confirm her address.  A replacement payment was sent to her.  The amount she is entitled to is $131.46 NOT the amount that was listed as $187.

    We consider this matter resolved.

****, of GUM Financial, reached out to me regarding sending my payment.  The payment was sent however, the check bounced.  On June 7th I informed **** and on June 12th, he said they would replace it with a money order. I've not received the money order yet.  I emailed him this morning at ***************************** regarding this and I am awaiting his reply.  Please do not close case number ******* until I've received the money order payment.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

GUM Financial sent me a check in the correct amount of $131.00 to resolve this issue, however, the check bounced.  Then, on June 12th, ****, of GUM Financial promised to send me a money order to replace the bounced check because he was afraid their finance **** had been hacked.  He even offered to send an extra $25 for any incurred fees.  It is now June 27th and I have tried numerous times to contact **** by email, with no response.  I do not want this case closed.  I definitely want to keep it open as long as possible.  I trusted ****, even after waiting years for my money, I still believed he would do what he said he would do.  I am 74 years old and I depended on that money that was promised to me years ago, months ago, and now weeks ago. I feel stupid for trusting GUM a third time. My blood pressure is up and I feel anxious whenever I think of how gullible I was.  It's time I talk to an attorney.

Thank you Better Business Bureau for staying on top of this for me.

    Hello.

I received an email from **** of GUM Financial explaining why the check was returned.  I'm pasting a copy of the letter below.  I think his response is an acceptable and genuine solution so I would like to close complaint #********.  If there is anything else I need to do to finalize this matter, please let me know.

    I appreciate all your help!

    Sincerely,
    ******* ******

     "Hi *** ******,

Thanks for the update.  I checked with the bank and yes, they had held the payment as we had another fraud attack of unauthorized checks.  YOURS was actually authorized by us and our apologies for the inconvenience.  We had entered it DIRECTLY into the positive pay system so that there would be no need for any type of authorization.  I requested that a money-order **** be issued for you.  It should be completed by end of day and we will include an additional $25 for you in case your bank may have charged you a fee.  You should receive in a few days.

We will not be issuing a stop payment on the check, since the bank listed it as unauthorized.  So strange.  But I guess they are being safe with the rampant fraud activity that is happening.  We may have to open a new account every 4 months to alleviate the problem.

Again, my apologies for this but a money-order will be sent out for you asap.  I will email you once I get confirmation that it has been mailed to you.
    Should be by tomorrow morning.

    Regards,
    ****."
