I called ******************* from a number that popped up on their website as customer service. I gave information to them and they immediately started taking money out of my account. I had to lock down my bank account and get a new debit card to stop bunches more of money coming out. No one has compensated me for any of it. Then I received a post card for $100 compensation that has a phone number to call to claim and they answer in an Asian language and hang up. The company sent me a postcard saying I needed to claim my "prize" for either a ******* or target gift card. They gave me my claim number LT105123. When I called, they asked for my checking accounts and my credit card numbers. They also asked for my social security numbers. I'm 81 years old and my husband just passed last weekend. I made the mistake of giving it all to them. After speaking to my daughters, they let me know that this was a scam so I locked/froze my accounts until I could go to the bank to fix it. While my accounts were locked/frozen, someone had attempted to use one of my checking accounts FIVE times buying things from target, ******* uber, etc. I don't think it's fair that these companies take advantage of elderly people and steal from them.Initial Complaint

I received a Final notice in my mail on a post card mailer. Saying ***** you have an unclaimed reward for $100 from our distribution center. Received attached postcard in the mail on 01/09/2024. This is a scam mailing that was warned of by our local news and law enforcement. ******* has further added that they have issued no such gift cards. Not sure what , if anything the BBB can do. Vendor “Smart Shopping Club” submitted an unauthorized $9.95usd visa charge for a “shopping service” monthly subscription. No subscription was made or authorized my me and prior to research I had no knowledge of the vendor’s existence. Vendor telephone does not answer, only directs caller to **************** for any issue. ************ agent identified vendor and “promised” that the “subscription” would be cancelled. As of this writing refund not received. Filed chargeback and dispute with bank.Customer Answer

Hello, The subject organization has refunded my unauthorized credit card charge. Note however, that they made an unauthorized charge in the first place which would have remained had I not been diligent and caught the fraudulent charge. The organization refuses to answer telephone calls and will only allow emails for communication. Only when I had my bank, Wells Fargo, chargeback the unauthorized charge did they actually issue a corresponding credit.
It appears to me that their revenue plan is to charge and hope that the victim either misses the charge or gives up in frustration attempting to get a refund.
Please do not waste your scarce resources in chasing this organization as they will ignore you and waste your time/effort. I just hope that the word gets out so that others do not get scammed.

Somehow I was signed up for their shopping service while ordering something on line. I thought the charges I was paying was for a purchase I was paying for in installments however it was for a cash back something that I would never use at 73 years old.
