**************** multiple incidents.I established a new patient relationship by scheduling an office ******** sole purpose was to get a Colonoscopy that my PC ordered. It's been 5 plus years since my last Preventative Colonoscopy, and I had a referral for one from my PC.The doctor and office didn't care about my referral, that's why I went there. At my visit *** * change my current prescription and order a CT put my over due Colonoscopy on delay. I eventually scheduled one and the coded and billed it incorrectly. I reached out to ******** and they informed me I was entitled for a preventative Colonoscopy which they would cover at 100%. When I questioned this with the office staff I was told they were writing it as high risk, which I'm not. Objecting to this, because of ******** stating I'm entitled to a preventative Colonoscopy covered at 100%, I reached out to the doctor for help, *** * informed me to schedule one in January and that's how they would treat and code procedure. I took his advise scheduled a Colonoscopy as preventative only to be told by his assistant sorry it's being billed as high risk, again which is incorrect. When I reached out to the *** a second time for help I received a form letter stating they are no longer going to provide me medical care. I was dropped without explanation. However, they did bill me and charge me for a new patient appointment. After looking into this I discovered many patients have been treated this way.*"Something is very wrong with this practice and it needs to be investigated ASAP*" Medical malpractice and corrupt billing practices at its finest.Thank You Please take this complaint seriously, I am a 60 year old man who has never been treated this way as well as seen this type of corrupt medical practices.Initial Complaint

Digestive Health billed me $25.00 for an no show office visit on July 13, 2022 to discuss the medical procedure done in early June. This alleged missed office visit was a mistake. The visit to discuss this procedure occurred on June 28 and was billed and paid. office scheduler. She said she would report the error to the office manager and that I should contact the office manager. Eight times in the past several months I tried to reach the office manager and the attending physician but not once did I receive a response. I am now being threatened with a collection agency. The office is trying to force compliance to a faulty charge with out the courtesy of addressing my contacts.Business Response

I had a colonoscopy on 12/14/21, performed by physicians in this medical group. I received a bill for the pathology portion of the procedure not covered by my insurance, $139.00. I called the office and left a message to see if there was a way to recode the procedure so that my insurance could cover it. I'm on a fixed income. I never got a return phone call. I received the bill again, and I called again, asking for them to call me back. No response. Then, on 4/28/22, I received a letter (attachment 1) terminating me as a patient. I called again- no response. On 5/14/22 I paid the bill. I sent it along with a letter (attachment 2). The check was cashed on 5/18/22 (attachment 3), so I assumed we were done. On 6/15/22 I received a call from a collection agency demanding payment of $159.15. I explained that I had paid the bill and that the check was cashed. The collection agency representative confirmed that the bill THEY had sent me had been returned as undeliverable. They asked for payment of the outstanding balance of $20.15, which I refused to pay. I got another call from the collection agency yesterday, which I missed. I called Florida Digestive Health again, and made another request for a return phone call. I also emailed their compliance office (attachment 4), requesting a call. There has been no response. I'm hoping you can help resolve this. I don't want them negatively impacting my credit, when they refuse to respond to any of my multiple correspondences.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 13, 2022/07/11) */ Patient was sent three statements, Balance placed with collection agency for $159.16 and on same date patient payment was received for $139.00, this resulted in under payment of $20.16 for agency fee and is still owed. Once patient resolved this, no additional collection efforts will be made.. This patient did sign and agree to our Financial Policy that they agree to be responsible for all collection costs incurred, including collection fees. Copy of this signed agreement is attached. Consumer Response /* (3000, 17, 2022/07/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The business is not responding to the whole complaint. I did receive the bill, but I had questions that I needed answered prior to payment. I left THREE messages, and never received a followup call. Also- the collection agency, when they initially contacted me by phone, indicated that the original written demand for payment from them to me was undeliverable. When I finally got a written demand in the mail, it was dated 6/30/2022 (see attached). You can clearly see that my check was CASHED almost SIX WEEKS BEFORE THAT (see attached). Their lack of any appropriate communication is what precipitated this whole problem, and is what causes this issue to continue. A simple phone call from them explaining the billing would have resolved this issue. Consumer Response /* (3000, 20, 2022/07/14) */ The company sent this bill to an out of network provider and never returned my calls. I sent a check today for the $20.15 cents to clear my credit. I would not recommend this company.Initial Complaint

6/15/2022 Hello. On January 27, 2022 I had a pre-procedure appointment at Dr. Jennifer L*****. I did not meet with the doctor. I met with a nurse practitioner or another medical specialist. She advised me that I should get an EDG done. She took me out to the waiting room so I could meet with someone in the business department to discuss payment. they advised me that it was gonna be $505. I had the EDG done on 2/10/2022. I spoke to the office manager, Kim about 4 weeks ago and she said she would call me back the next day. Kim never called me back. I must have called the office about a dozen times leaving messages from multiple people and talking to people not getting anywhere with this issue. My concern is that if I knew this was going to cost me over $1300 I would never have gotten the procedure done. I feel like I was not communicated in the right manner. I don't feel that I should have to pay more for this. Last Tuesday, I left Kim a message saying if I didn't hear back from her by Friday that I was going to call the BBB. She called me back but I am still not getting the support I need. The invoice attached has the office contact info. Let me know if you you need need more information from me. Thank you. I have added the additional information and contacted the business. When speaking to the business they wanted me to email the I called my *****-my insurance company. I spoke to Shawna and she seemed a bit disappointed in this as well. She informed me that my deductible was $505. You can reach out to her if you have any questions. She can be reached at *******************************. She is in the process of contacting the doctors office as well.
