We bought a boat from Land O Lakes Marine on Friday, May 10. We put a down payment on it on Monday, May 6. We understand the boat was "as is" so I asked them if they do service at their Marine. They said they do. I asked them every single day calling them, emailing them to please let me know if the boat needs anything fixed on it so it is safe for my family and others. We plan to take it out on Sunday, May 12 for Mother's Day. They said all it needed was springs on the trailer. They also said they always do a full review of the boat and trailer to ensure it's safe before leaving their lot. When we got home the left break light was out. Luckily we knew how to fix that so we did it ourselves but could've easily received a ticket on the way home. Then we ended up getting a flat tire due to dry rotting. They did not tell us about that. We ended up getting new tires to be able to take it out on that Sunday. Once we got out on the water the shifter to put it in neutral kept getting stuck and the stereo wasn't working. We were able to get it in gear. Then, we went just a couple miles out to a sandbar(since it was a new purchase did not want to risk going far) and when we went to leave the sandbar it was fully stuck where we could not get it out of gear. We had to call a tow which costed us $400. I asked LandOLakes Marine to please let me know if anything needed to be fixed and I would get it done and leave it with them to get fix and pay for whatever it needed. They confirmed it was safe to take out and they would just do the trailer springs next week. All I want is to be reimbursed for my tow fee since it was NOT safe to take out. We were terrified, had children with us and were stuck for hours. I am not asking much and only for the tow fee of $400 since they had it all week to tell me if something needed to be fixed but ensured there wasn't. They did NOT look the boat over like promised.
