I contracted Murdock Millworks to install cabinets in my kitchen for a remodel In December 2022 and was told they would have it all ready in March for installation so I had my kitchen demod to get ready for the install the weekend prior to the install date we had scheduled. They called 1 day prior to reschedule their install for the next week. I now have no kitchen to work out of and no sink for washing dishes so we used the bathroom for that. Fast forward 2 months they finally install the island cabinets after waiting that whole time doing my dishes in the bathrooms and having all my kitchen stuff in boxes and on folding tables with a family mind you. They promise the install will be done the beginning of June 2023. It wasnt. They scheduled to show up the day I was leaving on my summer trip with my family to attempt to finish the install. They did not. They did about two hours of work and left unfinished saying they needed to bring more parts back and forgot some pieces. I arranged to have somebody available to meet them in the two months I was gone to finish it, they did not come once. When I returned home at the end of summer in August it was exactly how we left. We finally got the rest of the cabinets installed in September 2023 and they really did a quick finish with lots left to be desired. The paint on the island did not match on all the pieces and there are chips on several doors and I had to finish some of the painting myself and they left my garage a mess after they used it as a workspace on and off for 4 months. I loaned the owner ********* a $9000 loan because they made it seem like they were going bankrupt and couldnt afford to buy the materials to finish my job and pay their rent so I loaned the $9000 for 30 days to help them get my job finished and they promised to pay the $9000 back and have only returned $2000 of the money I loaned them so far. They have not done what they said they would do and I would never use them again for anythingBusiness response

***** was a former friend and fellow business owner. We heavily discounted his kitchen for him since he was a friend. I also took a loan from ***** again what I thought was a friend offering to help. We are paying him back. I also have photos of the installed kitchen. He as a former friend knew we were going through staffing issues at the time that caused a lot of delays. This is more of a civil issue than an issue with our finished product. All he needed was a drawer slide changed out which I ordered as its a warranty issue. His kitchen looked great.Customer response

We had a signed contract that promised delivery of cabinet doors and drawers 10 weeks after we signed in August 2022. They did a partial install in January and have been dragging their feet in completing the work. The work they did delivery had numerous flaws that they claimed they would correct but never did. They stopped responding to my inquiries as to when they intend to finish. One of the doors they installed was so poorly done it fell and hit my wife in the head. They didn't even call to apologize when I told them.Their subcontractors m/employees advised they have not been paid. Bottom line is they took our money, delivered a substandard product, partially completed the work, and cut communications.Beware Murdock Millworks, *********************************, *************************** (******). We intend to file a small claims suit but were advised by one of their unpaid workers that the line is long and they have nothing.Customer response

We ordered shoe shelving from ******* Millworks **** ******************* Naples and have a signed contract with them from October 2022. They said they would be ready before Thanksgiving. That came and went and we tried everyway to contact them and all voicemails are full not answering emails or ********* We had given them a $6,000 deposit.I finally went and sat in front of their location early in January and ********* pulled in (after it looked like the building was abandoned) she said she no longer had anything to do with the company and that someone else took over. I was in contact with the new person and just received notification from the new person they were let go and unfortunately we lost our money and will not be getting our cabinets.Business response

This is simply untrue. *** responded to every message she has sent to the company prior to ** hiring a project manager. Afterwards he was responsible for this. I was told he was keeping all clients updated. Clearly he wasnt and I had a conversation with ******** last night about this and let her know we have fired him and ****** my partner was taking over project management and would be reaching out in the morning. We have never had any intention of not completing her cabinets and Im very sorry an angry ex employee said that to you. He got to her before we could get in contact with her clearly. Your signed contract states ***** weeks. My partner said we would attempt to have it done by the holidays not specifically thanksgiving but did let you know we were very busy and again the contract you signed stated ***** weeks. We are still in that timeframe. Our warehouse is not abandoned. We were out on an install that day so no one was at the shop when she showed up prior to me arriving to pick something up to bring back to the install. I never said I had nothing to do with the company I stated I no longer keep track of scheduling as we hired a project manager and let her know I would tell him to get with her asap. At that time he had just been recently hired because we were so busy. The client must of got ahold of our ex employee prior to us getting ahold of her and posted this review. However we have spoken last night along with my partner getting ahold Of her partner this morning.

I stated to you that I had tried contacting you several times on ******** and calling but your voice mail box was always full. What is a person to think if you never reach back out to them. When I was able to speak to you twice you said each time the material should be hers "next week" both times I contacted you. How is that? I am not trying to be unreasonable I just want to be sure we don't lose our money and we get what we had signed a contract for. What you did tell me the day that you saw me was that he was hired as the project manager, and you had nothing to do with the day to day anymore? Not sure what that means. All I am asking for is what I signed a contract for.
Sincerely,

I was on a time crunch for my Master Bath vanity and explained that I needed to be done by December before I agreed to use this company. At the beginning of September, ******** told me they were booking into October. I paid a **** deposit on 9/6/22. The check was cashed on 9/9 and on 9/12 I was told it would be complete by mid to late October. This was when communication stopped. The hurricane occurred September 28 and I heard nothing. I reached out to ******** (had to send 3 emails before I got a response) to see if there was any damage or delays and on 10/10/22 I was told "we are on track for mid November" November rolls around and I heard nothing. I had to send 3 more emails and on 11/11/22, I was told "waiting on paint color. Should be 1st week of December at latest. I explained to her I needed this by December. I sent 3 emails and heard nothing. My contractor finally texted her on December 3 and she hadn't started it and said she offered a refund I then emailed her and requested a refund I had to email her more than once to get a response. On 12/6 I received this email:Sure. You will receive your deposit within 30 days. Per our contract you actually do not qualify for one as deposits are non refundable and you decided not to wait and pull out. However as stated above you will receive one within 30 days. Thanks. ********************************* Owner Murdock Millworks LLC ************** It has been over 30 days. I have sent multiple emails as well as text and she refuses to answer me. She put me over a month behind on my project and now refuses to answer emails, phone call or text messages. I want my full deposit back ASAP like she promised on December 6 as she did not hold up her end of the agreement and had lied and mislead me about the progress on multiple occasions . I have every emails I ever sent and that I mentioned in this complaint to prove days I tried contacting herBusiness response

A refund has been mailed. As of today. We have formally merged with another company so we can catch up on projects unfortunately ****** was a small project that fell through the cracks while we tried to manage large projects without any employees. Now with the merger we are now a team of 5 and are confidently getting clients work done.

I am rejecting this response because: I did finally receive the check 2 months after it was promised and am waiting to see if it actually clears. I had one excuse after the other and was never told they were in the process of merging with another company. The lack of communication on this business is shameful. Once the check clears, I will be relieved I no longer have to deal with such a shady business practice
Sincerely,

Maam according to your contract youre not even entitled to a refund. Since you chose to not wait for the vanity. However we refunded you. Again we have since merged and now have a full time project manager to manage the projects and the clients. We also are no longer taking on small jobs like this one.Customer response

We signed a contract and gave a deposit for cabinet materials in mid-August and a second contract at the end of August, both of which were agreed to be completed in early October. Throughout the month of September, we were assured by ******** and ****** that the orders were in progress and would be completed on time. However, most of the cabinet materials were never produced, and the one item that was produced was defective and had to have repairs made to it. On top of that, they LOST the finish samples that we provided to them that they were supposed to match. We visited their shop multiple times during October and were told every time that it was priority and that it would be completed soon. Twice when we were there, there were other customers present who were also complaining about their cabinet orders. We were on a strict deadline, so at the end of October we canceled our order with Murdock Millworks and hired someone else to produce what we needed. Now after stringing us along on the cabinets for 2-1/2 months, they are stringing us along on a refund of the deposits that we paid. Apparently, they spent our deposit money on something else. We even offered to let them make payments to us, but so far have not received even a small payment to show good faith. We would like a refund, but even more than that we want to warn others not to do business with this company. They are not professional or ethical.Business response

We have no signed contract with them, theyve shown proposals. If they had a signed contract it would also state we are ***** weeks out for builds. If they would like to use those proposals as contracts it clearly states their 50% deposit is non refundable, so if we go off of that they get no refund. The vanity they took of course needed to be fixed as they took it before it was finished.Your sample was not handed over to the finishing department, all samples need to be handed to the finishing team so they dont get mixedup into the build side. We had already stated we would return their deposit within 30 days per state law, minus the material and time we used because they took posession of those materials. We agreed to do it even though our proposals state non refundable deposits. They canceled the project not us. This claim is not based in fact and is slander. Also because there is no contract there is no liquidated damages or timelines that we were contractually held to. We gave them tenative timelines, however we are not legally bound by contract to any timeline.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because we did accept their proposals and wrote them deposit checks which they cashed, so there was a contract. In all of our conversations and emails with them (dozens) they never mentioned a ***** week lead time or we would have never hired them in the first place. We made it clear that we were working on strict time constraints and needed the materials by the end of September, and we were assured that they could meet that requirement. Their former shop worker, *****, could attest to that fact as he witnessed our many conversations. He also helped us pick through their piles of stuff strewn all over the place searching for the lost finish samples, which we never did find. They strung us along the whole month of October before we finally gave up and requested a refund. That being said, their response indicates they agree to return our deposit within 30 days. We first requested our refund on November 4th, so will will expect to receive our refund check within 30 days of that date.
Sincerely,

Thank you for following up. No, we have not received a refund and have not had any correspondence or communication from them. We are very disappointed.Business response

If this client would like to use a proposal as a contract then according to this proposal deposits are non refundable. They chose to not wait for the product and took unfinished product. The proposal very clearly states the deposit is non refundable. I already spoke with the BBB and they agreed that what he has attached is s proposal not a contract but if he wants to use it as a contract it clearly states non refundable. He came into my shop and took unfinished product and then wanted a refund.Customer response

The simple fact that they promised multiple times to refund my deposit and are now saying they will not is even more proof that this company is unethical. I am sending you a copy of our string of text messages from 10/17/22 to 11/17/22. Please note the text on 10/18/22 where they admitted that they lost the color samples I gave them "Asked ****** today and he said he had them but talked to ***** and apparently he tjougjt (thought) they were trash" and also the text from 11/4/22 where they admit they can't build what I hired them to build "we've been trying all week . . .but clearly we can't get it built." I asked for a refund because they did not or could not build what they said they would. I am also sending you a copy of the email from the second project we hired them to build where ******** states that project would be complete "by end of September". When we finally asked for our deposits back on November 4th, they told us that they had not even purchased the material for that job. In their text messages they blamed the fact that they were running behind on the hurricane, but our projects should have been completed before the hurricane even hit. They have consistently delayed and made excuses and never apologized for any of it. And now they are keeping our money. Shameful.Sincerely,

We had a written contract to replace my cabinet doors. She has given me excuses every month as to why she couldnt finish the work. She finally said she would need to cancel the job but has yet to give me my money back. She also has a piece of my property that she said was accidently broken and would be fixed, but she is refusing to give that back to me as well. She wont answer her phone and will not email me back. At this point I am convinced the business is a scam and she fully intends on keeping my money and propery. All I want is the money back and my property.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/25) */ I have returned all of her emails and I'm mailing a refund this week for her. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/29) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) After saying she would send a check tomorrow...she never did. I followed up daily for the entire week and her final response was she thought someone else had already sent the check...she said she would speak to them and get back to me, which she did not. A week after saying she would send a check tomorrow, she still hasn't sent one out.I've continued to try to be patient and wait but she continues to give me excuses and fails to refund me for the contract she broke. Consumer Response /* (4200, 13, 2022/05/25) */ (The consumer indicated he/she had nothing new to add) Company said they cannot afford to give me money back. I'm trying to be understanding but this is very frustrating.
