I get this letter in the mail, & the companys website declares theyre not here2judge you -my letter Im just NOW receiving, dated back in July. Who would think itd take long 2get2me? I try 2call & speak w/someone. This man answers the phone. Hes mean, rude & angry toned. He interrupted me on multiple occasions; while trying 2explainI have no xt$. I set what little $ aside 4bills/groceries. A mishap occurred just when I hadmy gallbladder removed. Prior 2the date in question, I was hospitzld from 5/8-5/17! ******. can tak2months & I was on bed rest for 6 wks. I was given extremely strong medication 4the pain, & I dont take pain medication 4my pain. Once the medication ran out, I was sick & delirious 4wks kicking 4mg ********. My case was so bad, they felt the need 2send me home w/abig prsptn of this. The alleged incident in ques happnd during this time. I spent more than $300 that day; I normally ration the little $ I got when my son was still a minor -hes now 18, & I practically get nada. Ive been disabled since 2016. Aka unable 2work due 2ms, fibromyalgia, intractable pain syndrome, severe ********* deficiency anemia &********************. (From a 2007 gastrc bypass) I receive now, 220 a month. 2live off of. Im fulltime enrolled,have 2AAs, 1from b4 I became disabled,&1from after-I obtained online. Next is my ba., then ma. &doc. But being sick, weak/barely able 2walk most days,it frees me up4lots of time 2do HW, it doesnt help w/$. I was trying 2explain that it was an accident but apparently, ur automatically guilty even tho it was innocnt. I tried **** up a payment plan. The man was so mean &rude 2me, he wouldnt let me talk,yelled @me as I was trying 2explain my $ situatn./how/when I received$. Yelling ovr me, 4the 10th time, couldnt take it ne more. I want some1 from corporate 2email me asap. I can prove all I say. I need help getting this removed. man so rude, its ridiculous, Im now sick 2my stom w/ anxiety & in massive pain from him! help!Business Response

PRA Law Firm is a Civil Recovery Law Firm which recovers losses related to shoplifting for corporations. The individual who left this complaint, was caught and apprehended shoplifting at our clients store in *******, **. After being arrested and charged with ***** theft, PRA started the process of recovering civil damages under California State Statute: Cal. Penal Code, Section ***** "Theft of retail merchandise, civil liability".

I am rejecting this response because:
You gave a standard response that could have been copied & pasted to anyone! I dont even think you read my issues. What Im trying to tell you, I didnt even have to accept a guilty plea, & because of the situation, being that I paid for everything in separate transactions; spending more than 300$ & even TOLD the cashier (whos always stoned) I had dog food & jeans left to buy. I told him not to let me buy more than 1 pair. While deciding which I wanted, I let shoppers behind me proceed & waited for my line to die down. I even asked for assistance to my car for when I was done but no on ever came. The store was closing & I got my way back online, the cashier let me buy THREE pairs of jeans instead of the one, I handed him back the others & he gave me my jeans. It turned out he gave me back four pairs, only charging for 3. Also, he & I completely forgot about the food, even tho I had told him right away prior; it was due to my foggy mental capacity from just having been hospitalized & under heavy narcotics, then kicking them too-& I wasnt all there. When I left because I waited for assistance to my car for over ten mins, asked where my help was but he never came, I left. & when LP apprehended me, I didnt even think they were serious! I asked if j could pay for my dog food. They said I have two options: if I came back with them, I could sign a paper and pay a fee-& NO cops involved. Or, I could resist and they would call the police to report me. There were two males in front of the electronic cart because I am disabled & I have my own. I use the stores cuz mine doesnt have a basket. I opted for the first choice. I went with them to the back office and they said I needed to fill out some forms & they would get permission from their boss & let me go. While we were waiting for the boss to approve the paperwork & video of us supposedly to ensure they followed protocol, they had really called the police & five Burbank pd officers, all male, came into that tiny room where I was. One yelled at me I dont give a f*** about your disability they insisted on groping me but I said no. Seven men & one female in a locked back room? With the store past closing & me by myself? I dont think so. They broke their contract by doing what they did. The deal was if I went with them & signed their paper (I guess for this very purpose) then there would be no police) we had a verbal agreement. That was broken when they lied & had actually called the police. The da & public defender both saw the video of how I was yelled at & treated & both agreed to not even charge me as long as I did a class. Which I did. It was an accident, first of all-but mostly, your client broke their verbal contract they had made with me when they lied & called the police instead-that wasnt what I agreed to when I signed the paperwork. Check the video came of the back room. Then I call to try to explain all this, I get yelled at & treated horribly. Then I file my complaint & you dont even read it and give me some generic response! How about you read my words & give me a response tailored to actually me.

They are seeking restitution for a theft incident that occurred on 7/13/24. All merchandise was returned at the time of processing. Since then, I have received two letters from PRA law firm. The first one was demanding $300 and now this business is demanding $500+ dollars for a $100 worth of items that was taken back by loss prevention during processing of said incident. Not to mention, I did not have ID and the loss prevention guy used my credit card to get my name from. Right after that, there was multiple transactions done on TikTok shop. I dont even use TikTok. I had to file a fraud case with my credit card company.Those loss preventions people are not good people. Im actually in the process of going further to pursue this matter. my young niece just starting out in the work force, was giving people her employee discount without realizing it was against the rules. She's 19 years old. She worked at the airport for ****** ************* They fired her and they told her that she owed them $200. She agreed with letting them take her 9 hours of vacation time and the remainder of her paycheck. which they did. but now she's received a letter from PRA law firm, in ********, *******, stating that she owes them $400 and have to pay it within 30 days or they will take her to court and **** She cannot afford nor have the means to pay more money.Business Response

I was falsely accused of shoplifting in target. Target apologized & dropped the case. I have been harassed by PRA LAW. I called to tell them to take me off their list that all charges were dropped. They could not have been nastier. They said that they WILL NOT STOP SENDING LETTERS AND/OR CALLS AND WILL NOT LOOK UP TO SEE THAT THERE IS NO CASE RELATED TO ME OR THEIR FILE #. This firm has been menacing and threatened me. They have claimed to be representing a former employer, which an incident happened and I paid for the loss on spot. They employee did not let know that they would have law firms like this threatening me. I have told them , I paid for the damage. They have called me a couple of times and when I ask how they got my number or to stop contacting me they hung up. When I tried to call back to speak with a supervisor, they will decline my call then call me in a couple days and the cycle repeats, even though I've requested not to be called. I don't think it's right the way they treat people that they are initiating contact with, and feel as though they should be able to tell me how they got my number, and why I am being called but, they won't answer my calls and when they do, they say they don't know.Initial Complaint

PRA Law Firm have been threatening me with calls and by the business of goodwill I was banned from locations in surprise AZ I was billed and I payed the amount the lady asked me to pay then all of a sudden, I receieve a letter in the mail saying I have to pay 680 something dollars after I already payed what was told and I signed to do. I been paying but they keep raising my price without me knowing and having me pay more and recently tried to raise me to 900 and something dollars instead when I was like at 300 and something aftrt paying the other 600 that they were requesting. I already had finished my payments it just seems like a scam. And they keep threatening me. The picture you see below is another letter stating I have to pay another ****** after already paying them 400 and something dollars that they requested. And even now still getting threats and paying even after it's racked up over 700 and something dollars.Customer Answer

PRC Law Firm has been harassing me for money for a settlement over an incident that occurred at my last workplace of March, 2023, ******'s located inside of a ******* supermarket. I've spoken with the Distrcit Manager, *************************** ************** overseeing all ******** business in ***********, and have confirmed the issue was settled and they did not authorize any law firm to seek compensation for any damages. Since then, I've received over 3 letters from PRC demanding money from me for an issue that's already been settled and closed. They are seeking restitution for a theft incident that occurred 8/31/23. I was not the one committing the theft but was found guilty by association.
