On Oct 2, 2023 I asked these people to move my military, ************** items in **** to his ******* base. They insisted I send a picture of a check for $600. I had to cancel 2 days later, which is a full refund per contract. I call they dont answer, hang up on me, or if they do talk to me they just keep lying saying they have sent the check refund to me. I have contacted a lawyer with still no check returned. Many people have apparently had the same problem not getting their money back per Trustpilot website. How can we allow companies to operate in the ** that continues do this to consumers? Someone should put a stop to these scammers. Please know this is not the same 3 Brothers moving and storage company operating in ******, ****, which is who I thought I had contacted.Business Response

They have not sent me anything and every time we talk they say my address perfectly. When I speak with someone they will just say it got lost, they will reissue the check, and we go through this over and over.

I hired 3 Brothers Moving and Storage Company based out of ********, ** on 1-30-24 for a move from Virginia to *******. I had found a moving help website online and 3 Brothers Moving and Storage was the first company to contact me back and assure me that they could complete the move within my timeframe. The move included my personal property as well as my home business and equipment. They quoted me $5,600 for the move. On 2/1/24 they called back to confirm the goods to be moved and changed my quote to $11,900 and assured me that no matter what, that price could not increase for any reason. They sent out another company to load and transport my items, United ***************** United Speed Movers loaded about half of my items and then changed the price again to $26.000 threatening to leave me half loaded or charge huge fees to unload what they had already done. Even though I had all of my items packed into boxes and ready to go on the trucks, they insisted that some of it need repacking and charged me over $2,400 for 47 boxes. Upon delivery, I discovered that they actually only used 7 boxes total. On 2/4/24 my property was delivered to my house, but in different trucks from what it had been loaded into. They delivered boxes that had been opened during transit. They damaged my home during the delivery, damaged my property that was moved and I am now noticing items missing from my shipment. The delivery driver was very aggressive upon delivery and stated that if they were not paid what they asked for they would reload my items that were already delivered back into their trucks and leave with them. They also forced me to sign paperwork I was not comfortable signing under threat of stealing my property. ****************** was called to stop the threats and aggression from the delivery driver. They were also able to stop the movers from taking property back out of my home and reloading it into their trucks as well as inform the movers that I was not required to sign their paperwork. In total I was extorted for a little more than $21,000. Neither business involved has tired to resolve the issue. I am rejecting this response because:Immediately upon booking the move was outsourced to a 3rd party without my knowledge. 3 brothers advertises itself a s a moving company, however it is not. It is a moving broker that merely charges an obscene amount of money just to make a phone call and do an estimate. The binding not to exceed estimate was accurate to the number of items and boxes I provided to 3 brothers. Upon the 3rd party Untited **************** arriving they immediately started upcharging and extorting more and more money as soon as my items were being loaded. 3 brothers was made aware of this 3 times throughout the course of the day on the phone, but refused to help saying there was nothing they could do. United Speed Movers unboxed and unpacked all my boxes making me use theirs and charging me for them. They charged me almost 1400 for tape, and made me put things in boxes that didn't need to go in them all so they could charge more. The ****** dollars quoted by the 3rd party hired without my knowledge did not include the nearly ***** deposit I had already paid to 3 brothers to simply call them. Nor would the 3rd party honor the binding not to exceed estimate of ******. Upon arrival in ******* we discovered my items had been transfered to a different truck than the one that left Richmond. We have license plate photos of the switch that was made. In addition the new outsourced moving company tried to upcharge a second time almost $7000.00 more dollars than the first upcharge in ******** after 3 brothers ***** was not honored. In addition numerous items came up missing and broken. Both of my beds are broken and unusable. Alot of my good kitchen items have vanished as well as some of my fine art. I have pictures of the boxes that came off the truck that day that show the tape I was charged $1400 for had been ripped off the boxes and my things gone through.

I am rejecting this response because: 3 Brothers Moving and Storage did not address any of my grievances in my previous except to throw snippets of their contract in my face like they have done to everyone else who has made a complaint against them. They must represent themselves as moving brokers clearly and concisely. They did not. They represented themselves as movers and immediately outsourced it. Both of these practices are deceptive and illegal per the ******* attorney generals lawsuit and settlement with entities that use these deceptive business practices. If the BBB will notice the binding not to exceed estimate gets taken advantage of by 3 Brothers and their cohorts in almost every single complaint logged against them by other people. They simply charge you a rediculous deposit to make a phone call to somebody else. No phone call is worth $6000. They did not provide any services worth that amount of money. They know their partners make people use their $1400 tape and same for boxes. That the boxes you put the stuff in isn't good enough. They do not partner with reputable people, and let these people take advantage of their customers. 3 Brothers takes advantage of their customers just as described by purposefully not telling people that they are moving brokers only and will not be performing their move. They further fail to notify the customer that they will be outsourcing their move. These are all deceptive business practices and were highlighted by the lawsuit the ******* attorney general brought against moving companies and brokers that engage in practices like this. They are willing to take advantage of everyone including pregnant women and seniors trying to relocate because they know moving is stressful, people have specific closing dates, and dates new jobs are lined up. No snippet from their contract can defend knowing engaging in already established illegal practices like this. I want my money back from 3 Brothers. No phone call and outsource is worth 6 grand. They can keep 50 dollars for picking up the phone, but I want the rest back. They did not move a single box or piece of furniture. They provided NO services whatsoever other than calling someone else.

Yes, we understand that the BBB just closes complaints based on the businesses response disregarding the consumers case every single time. The BBB has closed 45 complaints against this business always taking their side and doing absolutely nothing. We understand the BBB is more than happy to see the consumer get screwed and never do anything about it. This is a predatory company for which the BBB will take absolutely no action except for leave a review on its website so that consumers who all got duped by the same horror story can share their thoughts while the predatory business gets to keep operating and s******* more people to leave more reviews and complaints after the fact that end up right where I am now. When does this stop and the business is held accountable for unfair and shady business practices? How many complaints and evidence do you need before you finally hold them accountable for all the people they screwed? It's not fair to the consumer when your agency does absolutely nothing except log a complaint and then close it. State and federal agencies won't do anything to combat this either. They just let these companies get away with it. If they do anything they let the owner simply change the name of the company and keep scamming consumers. In this case it's seniors looking to relocate and retire, or pregnant couples changing jobs and moving to another state that get scammed out of 10's of thousands of dollars. It's people with families and small children that have home closing dates and deadlines to be at new jobs that suffer. These predatory companies just continue to be allowed to perpetrated the scam. To *** them takes a retainer fee for an attorney that most people can pay after getting scammed out of that kind if money and have little recourse because the government and the courts provide protections for people like that pray on others. They are the equivalent of squatters. They hijack your things to include your childrens clothing while moving and make you pay an exorbitant amount to get your things back or they keep it and sell it off. I mean let's be honest here. You and every federal or state agency is asking the consumer who just got screwed out of 25 thousand dollars which was probably their entire budget or savings to spend anther 5 to 10 thousand hiring a private attorney for a case they won't win. That's exactly how these companies stay in business after they rake you for everything you have. Nobody can afford to *** them after the fact for something that will probably still go their way anyway. It's an absolutely egregious scam. It's widely known, and nobody with any means ever does anything about it. We get what you just told me. Hire an attorney yourself to hold them accountable which still never happens. Or contact the government or state agency to take up the case. We already did that and were told to go pound sand that they wouldn't help us. ***THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE SCAM. DO NOT HIRE*** My poor PREGNANT wife hired 3 Brothers Moving and Storage to move ** from ******** to ****** while I am serving overseas in an official role for the U.S. Government with a total worst case scenario estimate of $11,900. Of course this estimate can no longer be accessed in their system. They are what they call "Moving Brokers" but make no mention of that on their website. All they do is pick up the phone, call a subcontractor, and keep your deposit which never gets used or credited for your move, and when you start complaining they tell you there's nothing you can do. Upon receipt of our two deposits of ******* and $3636.55 they immediately subcontracted out our move to a 3rd party from ********** which is also moving scammer. 3 Brothers was not even the moving company that showed up on moving day. By state and federal law they are required to inform you if they contact a 3rd party to perform services, and receive permission from you. They failed to do so. The subcontracted company then shows up loads your stuff, hold it hostage, then make you pay an exorbitant amount way beyond the estimate. The mover they hired illegally also subcontracted out our move a 2nd time (also without informing us) after collecting his $7750 to someone else to meet halfway where they transferred our belongings to the new moving company, stole items, damaged others, and loaded it into two completely separate trucks than the ones that were loaded in VA. Upon arrival of the 2nd subcontracted company that arrived in ******* they informed us it would be another $13,000 dollars still for them to unload our belongings, and the police had to be called. On 12/6/2023 we paid The 3 Brothers Moving ** $1,000.00 by check by photocopy emailed to them. After seeing my wifes medical doctor later that same day we realized moving to ******* would leave her without medical coverage we could afford .We cancelled our contract # S1877287 on 12/7/2023 which is within their 72 hour cancellation policy. Their salesman *********************** was very high pressure, argumentative and called me a liar. He said I can see you contacted another company. I called this company to facilitate two moves. One move was from ******** to *******, and the other move was from ******* to ********. I spoke with a logistics person named *******. I described him all of the items that I was taking from ******** to *******. He actually told me that he was overestimating what I was taking so that there was no shock when they came to load the *********** wouldnt be up charged. He said I would rather be down charged. I didnt know they were a broker company but when the company they broker to move my items came. Everything was under estimated. I did not have enough space in the truck to load all of my belongings. Therefore, I had to leave some behind. The person asked me if I needed anything packed and I said no I had furniture and some boxes. They said OK they had blankets for the furniture so that was fine. When they came, they charged me for additional packing supplies that I didnt ask for, but they said I needed. They said in the work order information was underestimated for what I had. Another moving company actually delivered my items to ******* and there is a painting missing. I have reached out to 3 Brothers via text, via phone, via email, and not one reply from anyone other than the person sending a text message saying someone will reach out to you. Not one person has reached out to me. How is this company still in business with such unprofessional behavior? The items were picked up from ******** on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. The items were dropped off to me on Saturday, January 27, 2024. I called three brothers customer service immediately on Sunday, January 28, 2024 when I realize the painting was missing. The customer service representative said that she would send an email to the vendor who delivered my material and that someone would get back to me Monday. January 29, 2024 with an update. It's worth mentioning that your estimate indicates your choice to forego a virtual in-home assessment to inspect the items slated for relocation. Unless otherwise specified, our estimates are predicated on standard furniture dimensions. In the event of any deviations, such as larger items or a greater quantity than initially disclosed, or the inclusion of additional services like packing or extended carrying, these factors will be clearly delineated and explained within the estimate.
This estimate includes the following:
Professional Door-to-Door service.

Disassembly of all standard furniture required for safe movement at the origin.
Reassembly for all items disassembled by the movers on the day of pick-up at destination.

If not included within the agreement, professional packing services are not included. However, it is at the discretion of the mover at the time of pickup to determine if items will require professional packing services. In these instances, additional charges will be applied. Packing supplies, such as bubble wrap, shrink wrap, boxes, etc. are not included

Drivers must have the ability to park within 75 feet at both the origin and destination points to avoid long carry charges. Depending on the size of the job, long carry charges start at $150.00. I am rejecting this response because: I absolutely was very honest and transparent about the items that I had that needed to be transported. I Was not treated with honesty, professionalism, or fairness. This business, three brothers, moving in storage in ******* is a scam that takes advantage of people in sensitive and personal circumstances. My move should not have cost more than I was quoted. This business should be shut down Every time I attempted to text or call I got absolutely no response. When I did get through on the phone, someone said they would email me documents and they never did. They treat people very disrespectfully. No one should ever have to endure being treated this way by a company that is supposed to provide a service. It is quite disgusting.

Based on my understanding, it appears that some of the items picked up were larger and bulkier than anticipated. According to the driver's assessment, the maximum estimated increase was approximately 100 cubic feet. Consequently, this additional cubic footage was invoiced at the pre-agreed rate of $5 per cubic foot, in line with the terms outlined in the initial estimate.
Regrettably, when items exceed the originally described dimensions and occupy extra space within the transportation vehicle, it is standard procedure for the driver to apply charges corresponding to this additional space, as specified in the estimate.Initial Complaint

This is a typical bait and switch company. I have never dealt with more unethical and unprofessional people before. To start I was provided a quote for $1,500 to move me out of state, and paid a $500 deposit. It all goes downhill from there! *********, who I spoke to when booking the move left out every detail imaginable that I did not find out until the movers showed up! When they came, I was charged an additional $1,500! The details they failed to provide were: 1. all items needed to be listed on the quote, anything over would be charged for (********* said, if you have more items, its no problem there is plenty of room on the truck. Never once mentioned a fee) 2. Gas was not included in the original quote 3. Move time was said to be 2-4 days, the movers then said **** days!! 4. It is a 3rd party mover, not even 3 Brothers - dont be fooled. I was on the phone for 30 minutes when booking and EVERY detail was not disclosed intentionally. Then there is the office staff. I was lied to all day about when the movers would be arriving via text message. The movers called and said they hadnt even received the order until 4pm when I was told they were going to be there at noon! I cancelled the move when they showed up and wanted to charge an additional $1500 (plus who knows what other hidden fees) and had to rent a U-Haul and move myself after waiting all day for them to show up. I **ntacted 3 brothers regarding a move from ************ to ******** on Dec. 9, 2023. I spoke with ****** who then stated he had to get his manager on the line. The manager got on the line with fake playful banter about the customer service I was receiving. I had let them know that it would be from a 10 x 15 storage unit that was full. We had agreed on a price right under $1,900, with a me paying $700 deposit via check link and splitting the balance at pickup and delivery. I received a call late on 12/19 for pickup on 12/20 by 10 a.m. Unbeknownst to me, it was 2 men from a different **mpany (united speed movers) that showed up. One guy started calculating something then told me a new **st of $2288.40 to start w/an additional $1525.60 at drop off. I explained to them the situation of my quoted price and the mover stated that 3 brothers always put them in this kind of predicament. I reached out to 3 brothers who said they would call the moving ** to rectify. We wait almost an hour and no one called. I didn't have any other option but to pay. After a few unsuccessful attempts (no answers, voicemails) of trying both **mpanies to get a delivery date, they then started to give false dates. Overall, everything I had was somewhere unknown for 11 BUSINESS DAYS, 12/20-1/8 with no **mmunication after unexpectedly paying almost triple of what I was quoted. Five boxes doesn't equate to more than double the quoted price. When I called to schedule, I informed you that my storage unit was a 10X15 that it was full. Nor does it negate the dishonesty about the delivery date, the attempts to get a response when I tried calling when the movers gave the new numbers, I texted ****** when I read the bill of lading to question the reassembly of some furniture, he replied asking what pieces and I never received any answers thereafter on anything and from that point on. One of the movers said that standard practice with your company. We wasted an hour waiting for a return call. After the pickup, I reached out on several occasions and was given excuses such as "they're closed at the moment, I'll give you a call back" at 10:30 a.m. on a Tuesday. Other times, I wouldn't even get a response until I began to email. Then I received false delivery dates until my belongings were delivered almost three weeks later. I was being generous with the total number of days by stating business days instead of calendar. Also, being met with having to pay more money at delivery for having stairs and other issues with the movers (outside of not being licensed)! It is standard practice for us to request a comprehensive inventory of items during the estimation phase, as the pricing structure heavily relies on the spatial occupancy of your belongings within the transportation vehicle.
Moreover, it was explicitly communicated that packing supplies are not included in our service, and it was noted that no items were packed upon the arrival of our movers. Prior to the scheduled move date and throughout the booking procedure, you were provided with all pertinent information regarding the contracted carrier responsible for overseeing your relocation. On 12/14/2023, we signed a contract with 3 Brothers Moving and Storage. Since that time. we have heard nothing from them, even though we have tried to contact them repeatedly through emails and phone calls. They seem to be ignoring us, which does not bode well for move next month. December 22, 2023 i hired 3 brothers moving and storage. the contract that was signed stated that my promise date of my belongings being delivered would be December 28, 2023. On dec 23, *********************************************************************** that they couldn't honor my contract as far as my delivery date was concerned, I sent them on their way after attempting to get ahold of the moving company multiple times. after realizing I wasn't going to be able to get ahold of them I contacted my bank and canceled the ach transaction. I went and rented a U-haul and car trailer. After arriving in ********* I went to get groceries and realized I was missing a big amount of money! they turned my ach debit into a check without my authorization. I called again multiple times left messages asked for supervisors with no help and even got hung up on and my calls screened by the company!! they are refusing to help and y bank has informed me that this is my best option. my bill #*******. I have attempted to pull up the contract but the deleted it on my end! the company has informed me that their is no such thing as a promise date for delivery and I was told and promised the dec. 28th was a GUARANTEE which was why I signed. the total cost was over 6000 with the total down being ********. 950 was a check from my mothers account and the ach debit was for *******. I would like to confirm that payment and payment authorization were received before the cancellation of the move occurred. In accordance with our contractual terms, for those seeking a deposit refund, the request must be submitted within 72 hours of signing the original contract.
It's important to note that in the event of a cancellation at the time of the carrier being onsite, our policy states that the customer is not eligible for a full refund of the deposit.14. ANY TIME FRAMES GIVEN FOR PICK UP AND/OR DELIVERY ARE ESTIMATED TIMES OF ARRIVAL ONLY AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. 3 BROTHERS MOVING & STORAGE LLC WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGES INCURRED BY UNAVOIDABLE DELAY. 3 BROTHERS MOVING & STORAGE LLC WILL ACT ON THE BEHALF OF THE CUSTOMER IN RESOLVING ANY CLAIMS OR DELAY ISSUES WITH THE CARRIER. I am rejecting this response because: I was informed by the guy that got me to sign with yall that all my stuff would be at that address he did not say anything of a estimated date it was promised!!!! So if thats the case maybe your customer service and sales reps should get more training on how not to scam people!!! If yall are going to refuse me a refund then we will be going to court that is a promise!!!! I called 10 times the day the contractors showed up which I thought was going to be 3 brothers moving company would be the ones showing up to my old residence not a random company I didnt hire!!!! So you can refuse and we can go to court or you can refund me like a proper company!!! If you dont preform a service you dont get paid thats how life works!!!! If you are going to refuse email me a copy of my contract so I can send it to my lawyer asap!!

As per the contract we are unable to guarantee delivery times as there are many factors that can cause delays. And as previously stated the contract is does reflect this information and the cancellation policy to be eligible for a refund of the deposit.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: at the end of the day your employee's made a delivery date and failed to mention this. that then falls on the company... failure to train is failure to train... i cant even access the contracts because your company has deleted their existence. you will give me a refund even if i have to fly to ******* to your head quarters and receive it in person... yall can continue to choose the hard way if you wish... stealing money from people is not ok and this isn't yalls first complaint on this action there are numerous complaints on this exact problem... you are a crooked company.. it is what it is. veteran owned or not stop stealing from people to make money. i signed because of a delivery date that was told would be the day stuff would be delivered.. you can be a crooked piece of s*** so, give me a refund or i can easily make your entire life a living h*** that is a promise not a threat!!! im over stimulated with rage from the fact that you and your company assumes they can steal money from people but yet cant respond to a BBB complaint in the time frame they are supposed to be responded to you only get 48hours according to the information i see! im sure your momma is real disappointed in the way you choose to steal from the people that aren't fortunate to own a company.. maybe if you ran it better you wouldn't have numerous complaints of theft! im sure if the BBB did even more research they would see just how crooked 3 brothers moving company actually are!!
