I have been getting my annual mammograms at the AdventHealth location in ******,** for several years. I did not have traditional insurance but was in a coop for catastrophic medical issues. I routinely paid my mammograms using self pay since my insurance does not cover them. I paid in full the self pay charge at time of service ($179.35) with no further issues. However, last April 2023 when I went in for my mammogram I clearly instructed the person at checkout I was self pay and not to send anything to insurance. This person incorrectly entered my payment as a pre-payment and subsequently sent the bill to my insurance . Since my insurance doesnt cover this AdventHealth has been trying to collect an additional $320.69 because I had valid insurance ??? It is perfectly legal for me to choose to self pay. This has been reviewed twice. I thought it was cleared up since I heard nothing for 5 months and my account showed $0 balance due. Now as of February 29 they are back trying to collect the money and have sent it to collections! I cant get anything but a robotic response instead of really looking into this. I successfully did self pay for years so because of one persons mistake and a review team that cant seem to grasp the situation I am still dealing with this. I have just sent a letter to ***************************** CEO AventHealth Central Florida. Hopefully someone will resolve this ASAP.
