I did business with Island Escapes of SWFL as they were the management company for a rental property. Island Escapes received rents from the customers and did not pass the funds to the owners. I hired a lawyer and pursued the issue and sent them legal correspondence. However, ***************************** (Owner) took the money and has not been able to be located.Initial Complaint

I (*******************) booked a vacation rental, located at ************************************************************************, through ********************** Escape's (a.k.a. Island Escapes of SWFL Vacation Rentals) website www.iescapeaway.com. The reservation was made on March 2, 2024 and payment was made in full with credit card at the time of booking. The dates of the reservation were from Saturday, June 1 through Saturday, June 8. The reservation confirmation was emailed to me at the time of booking on March 2, 2024. The rental agreement was signed online with a copy emailed to me same day on April 18, 2024. I arrived at ********************** ************************************* office on Saturday, June 1, at approximately 4:20 pm. Per ********************** Escape's key pick-up information provided at the time of booking and again via email on May 27, 2024, the rental property key could be picked up after 4 pm on the check-in date. I followed the provided instructions to open the lock box outside of ********************** *************** and discovered the rental keys were not in the box. I immediately called ********************** Escape's after hours/emergency number ************** where I was connected to an answering service. I explained the missing key issue after answering a series of questions such as basic personal info, contact info, rental property address, and reservation dates. I was told the property manager would contact me within 30 minutes and instructed to call back if no contact occurred. After 4 calls and no successful connection with the property manager, I contacted the Marco ********************** police department. ***************************** responded to the call and met me at the rental property where he took my statement and generated a report. During our discussion, he confirmed that ********************** Escapes is allowing renters to book properties online and not providing the vacation rental to the renter or paying the propery owners for the rentals. While the amount is currently disputed through ***** ******* the credit card was already paid in full and I have not received my money back.Initial Complaint

We rented from ********************** Escapes in Marco ********************** and have paid our down payment for a property. Then a few months later we were notified that they are permanently closed. Not answering texts, emails or phone calls and therefore can not refund our money. We got in contact with the actual homeowner and they are not getting paid either. So they took our money and basically left town. We are out over $1,500 for the initial payment and I am worried they will charge our card for the rest when its due.Initial Complaint

I need Island Escape to pay me moneys owed for rentals of February and March 2024. My property was rented through Island Escape and I never received The full amount owed to me. I also need to see the records of who they rented to and how much they took in. I told the owner in person to remove my name from their listing and its still up on 2025 available to rent on their website. I believe they are still taking deposits on my property.Initial Complaint

We contracted services with Island Escapes and ***************************** to rent our property. We reached out multiple times because he did not make suitable adjustments we needed in the automated responses. I called multiple times and he would state he would call me back. They double booked our property and when I requested that he contact the person he double-booked he said he would call me back and never did. That was April 1, 2024. Since then, we have attempted to solidify services with another company and cannot get a hold of Island Escapes. In addition, we have recently discovered that they closed their doors and ran off with everyone's money.Initial Complaint

On February 9, 2024 I gave ********************** Escapes a deposit on my **************** card in the amount of $2490.62. This is a deposit for a future rental of a condo on Marco ********************** which is scheduled to begin on January 11, 2025. I've since been notified by friends that ********************** Escapes is no longer in business. At that point I tried to contact them via phone calls, messages and e-mail with no response. I've also read that many other people are having the same issue with ********************** Escapes. What I want is to cancel my rental contract and recieve a full refund.Initial Complaint

I'm writing to inform you about a property management business, Island Escapes (Marco *********************** **), that appears to have left town. *****************************, the owner, hasn't responded to messages and has vacated his office. He owes us for unpaid rentals and has 3 sets of keys to our condo that are still in his possession. He has a sign on his building that says he is out for medical reasons. The reality is, this has been going on for a while. In march I had to show up to his office and demand payment for the previous 4 months. that was the last contact I had with him. ****** reviews show that other owners of units he managed are expressing the same issues. This business needs to be shut down immediately before more people lose money or have their units exposed by this business.
