My wife and I went to Dr. ********************** in July of 2022 to get the transmission rebuilt on her 2010 ****** Camry because the car was slipping into gears. The gentleman, ****, told us that he could save us money by installing a torque converter and not a whole new transmission. He told us a rebuilt transmission for my 2010 ****** Camry would be $3800. But the Torque Converter would be $2050. We took his advice, as he was supposed to be an expert at an expert shop. So, we got a rental car = $287.13, so that my wife could get back and forth to work. We picked up the car on July 13, 2022, got a 12 month warranty on their work. October 2022, the gears were slipping again. We took the car back in and **** told us the torque converter was bad. So, another one had to be installed for free. Got the car back on October 11, 2022. November 2022, took the car back in because the gears were slipping again. ****, the mechanic, rode in the car and said this is worse than before. Said they would get the torque converter from someone else. Had to rent a car, instead of taking the car on vacation for Thanksgiving = $469.27. Here we are, January 2023, and the car is back in the shop, same problem. First they tell me a valve body work was necessary, so we'd have the car back by Friday, January 13. Rental car = $350.75. Thursday of that week, they now tell me they want to rebuild the transmission. Costing us $3500, not giving us a break on the $2050 initially. ANOTHER rental car = $375.11. Total rental car costs since my wife still has to go to work and they have her independence: $1,482.26.
