On 8/25/23 we signed a contract and gave a deposit of $8,000 to Sheepdog Concrete to install pavers on our 2,300sqft driveway and walkways. When we signed the contract and transferred the deposit, we were out of the country and told that the job would be completed before we returned two weeks later. On 8/28/23, ************************* the owner of Sheepdog Concrete began the demolition of the driveway. **** began on 8/28/23 and did not "finish" the job until 9/26/23 when he canceled our contract with an incomplete and incorrect driveway. He caused damage to our house, personal property, and front lawn during this month of demolition and dumpsters on our property. **** would not communicate when his "workers" or himself were coming, had no completion date for us, and when we asked he would get hostile and explain he has personal issues going on which is causing the job to take longer than planned. He also stated things like weather and material sourcing were an issue, but there was no bad weather and US Paverscapes where he ordered the pavers from confirmed they had no delay in giving him the pavers. The biggest problem with our driveway is that **** laid 1" or 30mm PATIO pavers on our entire driveway. These pavers are not rated for vehicles, and should never be installed on a driveway. **** also used sand as a base, did not compact or properly prepare the base, and then had his workers "stamp" it by hand with a 2x4. The whole driveway had tons of cracked pavers and was very un-level. But once again, the biggest issue is laying PATIO pavers on a driveway. When we confronted **** about this he told us we were wrong and was very hostile and used profanities. He then canceled our contract and refused to refund us or fix the issue. We had to pay to have the pavers pulled up, order the correct 60mm pavers from SiteOne, and pay a new company to reinstall them correctly and also repair all the front lawn grass and landscaping he destroyed. The new company completed this in TWO DAYS.Business response

We have had numerous weather delays. The job site was underwater. She had other contractors on site who damaged her property before we even arrived and they lied to her and we were blamed. It took 3 weeks for pavers to be delivered. ********************* added on numerous portions to the job which required me to wait for more materials and added more time. She was out of the country for weeks and it rained almost everyday she was gone so Im curious how she knows there was no bad weather. We had a HURRICANE COME THRU ALSO. She owes me *****. She chose the pavers and pattern and wasnt happy which what she chose and thats somehow my fault. We fixed everything she claimed we broke even tho we didnt break them as I am a former police officer and a disabled veteran and I live my life with integrity. She is a liar and is bashing a small DISABLED veterans business that I worked my a** off to build and provide for my two kids as Im a single dad of twins. I terminated my contract as it states I can for any reason and I did as she was talking s*** to my employees about me and MY KIDS and cursing me out. She is a liar and a manipulator. I cant upload images I have but I will email them if I am provided an email. Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:As you can see from ************************ response where he is unprofessional, uses profanity, and does not once address the actual concerns, this is a reflection of how he operates his business. The damage to our property was in fact caused by Sheepdog and I sent him the security camera footage to prove that, but we don't even care about that, it was all fixable things. The real issue which we have said over and over and over is that he laid 30mm patio overlay pavers on our entire driveway, and not only is that the wrong paver but he laid them incorrectly. We never selected the paver he put down, and I even attached the message to his office where it shows what we selected. We never once said we wanted a patio rated paver on our driveway, and it is not our responsibility to ensure that a business owner selects the right material. US Paverscapes confirmed in the email that I previously attached that you do NOT lay 30mm pavers on a driveway and ******************** made this selection, he chose this material. Bad weather happens, but it should not have caused the job to be dragged out as long as it was. Yes, we were out of the country but we had access to our cameras where we could see the weather conditions. There were many days after we got home, it was perfect weather and there were no workers on the property attempting to finish the job. ******************** never communicated when workers were coming, and we were constantly reaching out looking for updates in which he was always rude and unprofessional in his responses. I never once spoke to ************************ workers about his children, in fact I didn't even know he had children until he divulged that was he going through a nasty custody battle with his ex-wife and dealing with personal issues. The only thing I spoke to one of his employees about was when he thought the job would get done and why it was taking so long to get extra material. I am unsure why ******************** is making these things up but they have nothing to do with the issue here. I also have not once bashed his business on ****** reviews, ********* or any other outlet, because I was hoping ******************** would do the right thing and resolve it directly with us. This is all clearly a deflection from the real issue, that ******************** laid the wrong material with the wrong techniques and we had to pay tens of thousands of dollars to have it corrected. ******************** states we owe him $6,000 which is another fallacy considering he canceled our contract and also did not complete the job, therefore we owe him nothing. In fact, we are owed by ******************** for the incorrect pavers he laid which are now stacked on pallets in our backyard and unusable. US Paverscapes, where he purchased them, will not take them back. We also spoke to the supervisor of US Paverscapes, who mentioned that he also had issues with ******************** and said he was extremely difficult to work with and accused them of shorting material and used profanities to tell the supervisor off. You will see from my attachments where we purchased the correct 60mm pavers from SiteOne for about $6,000. Also, all of the prep work and concrete ******************** laid as the edging of the driveway was taken out, as it was also done incorrectly. Overall, the main point of our complaint is that the entire project was wrong, and Sheepdog Concrete has taken zero responsibility and offered no compensation of the $12,575 we paid his company. We paid all of that money to him and every single thing they did was pulled up and taken out, and redone correctly, paid out of pocket by us. We have five other paver companies whose owners will attest to the fact the job was done wrong, and we are very lucky we pulled up the pavers because if we drove any size vehicle on the job that he did, they would of all cracked and been ruined. ******************** can try to deflect by calling me names or accuse me of whatever he likes, but it does not change the fact that the job was done wrong and ******************** walked away with $12,575 of our hard earned money.
