We hired ******************* the owner of the business to process and file our federal and state taxes back on February 22, 2022.We completed the required upload of all tax related documents on March 01.He notified us that he was starting to prepare our return on March 08.No messages for two weeks. Sent a message on March 22, checking on the status of our returns.He didn't respond until March 27. he stated he'd been sick the week prior and would get back to us ASAP.***** 03, we reached out again. He responded on ***** 04 and set up a zoom meeting for ***** 06.After our meeting he messaged on ***** 08 that the return would be done and ready by ***** 11.In the meantime he would send us documents to sign so that he could file an extension for us.On ***** 29, we reached out because we hadn't heard from him.He didn't respond until May 03. He stated that he was out for a personal matter the previous week. He stated that he would notify us when our return was available.May 07, We started to become concerned. We did not know if the extension had been filed or not. So we messaged him.After we got no response we sent another message on May 12. We stated that if we hadn't heard from him by May 17, that we would have to seek another tax preparer and requested that he refund the $175 that we paid up front for his services.On May 17, we formally terminated our agreement with him and ask for our money back.It is now May 21 and we have to secure the services of another tax preparer. We had a small business in 2022 so we had to file by March 15. We are now stuck with paying $750 to the new preparer and will possibly be facing a late filing penalty fine.
