I paid to rent a car and paid extra to get a full refund and after many attempts to obtain a full refund as per the guarantee/warranty I paid, I have not been refunded. Holiday cars continues to operate but claimed bankruptcy and hasn't refunded me. I want a full refund.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/12/29) */ Unfortunately, due to the long-lasting impact of the Covid-19 crisis and travel restrictions, BookingMonkey Sarl (Switzerland), formerly trading as HolidayCars.com, which your booking and payment was placed with, has ceased trade due to its insolvency per 22 June 2021 and is unable to pay any pending refunds and/or redeem prepaid credit vouchers issued. By decision of the Lausanne District Court, the company was declared bankrupt with effect from 23 September 2021. On 26 July 2021 the operation of the website holidaycars.com was taken over by a new company which is registered in England. As such, Booking Adventures Limited (UK) is now responsible for all new bookings placed on or after 26 July 2021, as well as any refunds which relate to bookings placed on or after 26 July 2021 only. We do sincerely regret having to inform you of the situation with BookingMonkey Sarl (Switzerland).Initial Complaint

Hi hired a car from holidaycars.com 14-09-2020 and due to covid restrictionshad to cancel, they said I could only have a voucher which I said that is fine to to moving the holiday to 2021, but since having it I have been unable to use and now says I cannot due to the company being insolvent, however they are still operating, I would like a refund of my £ 136.18, my reference is ********Business response

My car rental booking for $269.88 at **************************** is complete fraud. The seller is a third party company with hidden fine print, and when I attempted to cancel and get a refund within MINUTES of my reservation, they told me that the car had to be canceled with the rental car agency. I called Sixt, and they said that I had to cancel with Holiday Autos, as they did not receive payment directly from me. Holiday Autos gave me the run around and refused to cancel the reservation and refused to refund me. This morning when I called Sixt, they told me they didn't even have a reservation in my name for a rental car. Even if they had, I was unable to complete the rental at Sixt because I did not have a credit card, and that was not explained by Holiday Auto until AFTER I made the reservation. By that time, they had already taken my money.Business response

Hello and thank you for your time to help me! I entered into a "contract" with holidaycars.com during Covid-19 to credit me the full amount of my car rental reservation via holidaycars.com, to which I agreed. I am now faced with a different story from holidaycars.com as I attempt to use my credited amount to rent a holidaycars.com vehicle for my travel destination to Fort Lauderdale, FL next month (December 4-16, 2021). Enclosed is the notice I received after attempting to make my vehicle reservation via holidaycars.com. The notice basically states holidaycars.com cannot honor my credited amount. I did make the original reservation on my Visa credit card, so perhaps I may be able to recover my lost funds that way ...but equally important is that holidaycars.com is just telling me they cannot honor my credited amount. I have reached out to their offices without any success. Can you help me? The amount in dispute is ~$224.00 US currency. Holidaycars.com is located in Naples, FLBusiness response

My request to you is to assist me, please, in contacting the Naples, FL Dept. of Business (or similar governmental entity) to inquire whether or not a class action has been brought against Booking Adventures Limited, UK, the company that bought Holiday Cars (formerly in Naples, FL). There are so many customers like myself who were denied a settlement for our promissory vouchers before Holiday Cars was ultimately purchased by Booking Adventures Limited,UK.Initial Complaint

I had booked a car rental through Holiday Cars. On February 7, 2020 they charged my debit card $175 for the reservation. I had to cancel the trip due to Covid. I had contacted their customer service regarding their policies for Covid cancellations. They told me that they can refund 25% of my booking or give me a credit ($175) for a future booking. I decided to take the credit. I had a trip in early October and booked a rental car through Holiday Cars so I could use my credit from the previous year. It did not seem like my credit was applied so I looked at my account and got a message saying they are not honoring credits from the Covid impacted customers. They only way to contact the company is through an email and it's been a couple of days and I haven't heard back from them.
