We contracted ************************* on 7/27/21 for our wedding day 11/11/23. During the period of 20 months we had contracted ***** she was semi-responsive. Most emails took days to over a week to be answered. I contacted **** March 3rd of 2023 for a question and did not receive a response back until March 16th. When I finally received a response back, she let me know she would no longer be my planner, ****************** be coordinating my wedding as shell be celebrating her 40th birthday and she will now be traveling up north to see friends and family. A birthday is not an unforeseen event. After I received this email, I searched on her site to see who ****** was and she was listed as an intern. I did not pay for an intern, I paid for **** a planner with nearly 15 years of experience for our coordinator. I responded back to her email letting her know I would like to have a phone conversation. **** called me alongside her husband. We had no relation with or communication with her husband prior in this process. His demeanor on the line was hostile. **** had to calm her husband down on the phone line several times. He was unwilling to understand my frustrations with now taking on an intern as our day of coordinator for the same cost and violating our signed contract. I let him know ****** was listed as an intern on their site, within an hour of this call they updated their website to conceal this fact. The only instance they shared of a wedding this individual had coordinated solo was when ***** husband was banned from a venue last minute, so ****** had to step in and coordinate. We had also planned to have an assistant there with **** for our day. They let me know they were in the process of hiring someone who would be the assistant to the intern for our day. After leaving this call, I realized my big day was not a priority, even though **** had booked and committed to personally coordinating my wedding 20 months prior. The recently planned birthday vacation took priority. I notified **** on March 16th they were in breach of contract as they were unable to provide a planner with reasonably equivalent experience as the contract specified if the assigned planner becomes incapacitated. I requested a full refund as they had breached their contract. **** responded back offering to now again be at my wedding or if that is not acceptable, she would offer me a full refund of $1,050.Understanding the phone conversation was hostile and my wedding was not a priority to them I chose the latter. I responded back with where to send my refund. An hour after confirming my choice she forwarded me another agreement with a NDA to sign holding my money hostage unless I do so. I responded back letting her know I had accepted the option of a full refund with no contingencies, they became hostile and let me know they will not be returning my funds unless I sign the agreement. I let them know Im open to signing an agreement we can both agree on, to send me a version of the document so my lawyer can redline to come to a resolution. During this time she also locked me out of all planning resources. My investment with their company currently being held hostage was only $1,050, a NDA five times that amount at $5,000 per incident with no limitations is completely unreasonable. They did not respond to my email requesting a word version of this document for over a week. I reached back out to confirm they had received and they again were not willing to be amicable, they still withholding my funds. This Friday, March 31st, I was contacted by my employers HR department that this planner/company had reached out to them to disparage me about the issue. This planner is now harassing me. I have not received a refund and no services were rendered. As a result of Kara ********* actions Im out $1,050 and I had to contract a new coordinator/planner at 2023 rates. I feel inclined to share this accurate and factual account of the ********************** that conspired with my wedding.
