I was contacted by ******** with Fair Market Services, ******************************************************************************. She said she contracted with timeshare owners to market their week in shows, online advertising, etc in an "attempt" to sell the timeshare. Finally, agreed to let them advertise and market my Marriott timeshare in June 2023. Six months later there have been no prospective buyers and ******** only contacts me when I call her. Don't make the same mistake. Steer clear of Fair Market Services.Business Response

I find the response from Fair Market interesting reading but the fact remains the marketing services I contracted for are not effective. No leads have been received. I have only had two or three conversations with Fsir Market since contracting two of those I initiated. No proof has been received showing they actually conducted seminars. My solution to the situation is Fair Market should refund the prorated amount of the original fee for the unearned period of time from the time I told them to stop all marketing services for me. Up to now, no leads or offers have been received by me. I do recall that Fair Market mentioned that a few people showed some interest but nothing materialized. Likewise they said they were holding marketing meetings but I never received anything in writing showing the number of people that attended their shows or how many were actually interested in my property. Just refund the unearned portion of my original payment and call this a poor decision on my part.
Sincerely,
*************************Business Response

I am rejecting this response because there has been no documentation showing the number of proposals that have been presented or names of people they have spoken to about my timeshare. Any legitimate business will have a file showing who they have had discussion with, which prospects received a proposal, status (active, dropped, negotiating) etc. Therefore I request(1) The names of ALL prospects they proposed my timeshare to and current status of each (still negotiating, not interested, bought something else).
(2) How many timeshares have they sold in 2023? 2022?
(3) What governmental agency (name, address, phone number, email address) do they report to?
BBB of West *******, **** is NOT allowed to present my timeshare to any new prospective buyers without my approval.

The attachment lists the details of the 9/27/2023 transaction.Somehow FMS found out I have a timeshare I wished to sell and convinced me that the traditional online listing firms fail to sell points by getting face-to-face with customers, like the timeshare companies do. I was told that FMS continuously seeks to sell timeshare points in exactly the same way; something they describe in the attached document. They also promised to assist me in getting a refund of the fee I paid to my current timeshare listing firm (Sell My Timeshare Now (SMTN)). I began to locate complaints about FMS online and realized this was a scam. I admit to being **** and did not seek to locate complaints before agreeing to FMS terms. Numerous attempts to reach the firm have been unsuccessful.Business Response

I signed a 12 month contract to sell my Time Share on March 2, 2021. I was living in ********, ** at the time. Ssince then I have been traveling full time but recently purchased a home in ******, **. The salesman named ****** made lots of promises about how they can sell timeshares and made me feel like I would be deluged with offers. However, I never heard from them or anyone associated with them since I signed the contract. There were no emails or calls or anything that would indicate they were attempting to sell my timeshare unit. It is as if they simply took my $699.00 and did nothing. Although I was traveling, they could still have called me as I did not change my phone number and I had all mail forward to me.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Their response makes it seem like they made no promises and that they clearly informed me of the process at the time they sold me on the idea of buying their package. If I had made a recording of their sales pitch it would be clear to everyne that they promised a lot more than what they are now saying. Buyers need to be made aware of their sales tactics. Buyers need to be aware that once they pay their money that there is a great chance that they will never hear another word from them or anyone else. I feel certain that they simply took my money and did absolutely nothing. What proof do they have that they did anything to advertise my condo? They have none.
Sincerely,

Date of transaction was 8-12-22. The amount of money paid was $1,598.00. The company earned my trust because they informed me that the previous contract that I signed was just placing an AD on the website and his company would do much more. The company promised report every week, but nothing at all no reports. I went with company because they promised more exposure for the money, did not happen. They should me their website where the customers were happy with their service, but I never received this kind of service. When they did call me all the wanted to do was lower the price which they set, but in their contract they tell you that they don't set prices. They set them high so you can continue to reduce them to make it seems like they are marketing the property. I have never spoken to any about getting a refund because the sales people will not call back because they are on the sales floor. I only wanted to sell my time share not rent it or let them cancel any contracts for me. The company took a lot of money and nothing was done. I am very dissatisfied with the work for the money. The money was for title fees and attorney. Told me they would sent paper work to a local attorney where I live. Man was I excited that these was going to help me, boy was I wrong, these people are professional scammers . They scam working people out of their money because I did not call them they call me several times. This is a business that make easy money because it is a market for scamming hard working people. I was fooled in making the purchased with the perpetual contract talk. The business has not tried to contact me or keep calling until we connect. In order to resolve I must talk to the president of the company, that has not happen. I have only spoken to the secretary and left a message. The company is trying to ride out the 10 month obligation then they will send me to their cancellation department and ask for more money. I am disappointed with the company performance.Business Response

In regards to ***************** complaint, first off we have a 12 month contract not 10 months. We also do not have attorneys in her area that help with the closing. Once we get an offer we would notify her and the title company in ************** where the resort is located would get facilitate the closing.*************** contract doesnt expire till 8-12-2023. We only set the price that the client will agree do, if ***************** would like to set the price she is comfortable with FMS will abide by her wishes. Fair Market Services is an advertising company nothing more than that , we are NOT scamming her and we will continue to advertise her propertys and call her when we get an offer.Tell us why here...Initial Complaint

I had ******** from *** call me everyday prior to finally giving them to review my timeshare to see if it was qualified to sell on their site as everyone doesn't get accepted. ******** told me my 3bdr Westgate Lakes may qualify for her shows which sell out every week. That was June 21 st and she claims many shows were being held and thousands of timeshares were being sold. She charged me $499.00 and said unit will be sold by next weekend. Well today is October 26 2022 and have not received any call back in 2 weeks for update. This company is reckless with their stories and committing fraud across state lines. I have contacted ******** and left several voice mails with no returned calls for any update. Do not do any business with Fair Market. ServicesBusiness Response
