    Pattern of Complaint:

    BBB files contain a pattern of complaints from consumers which allege billing issues.  Specifically, consumers report unknowingly being charged a monthly subscription fee after using the website during the trial period. In addition, several consumers report being charged this monthly subscription fee prior to the end of the 3-day trial period.

    On April 9, 2024, BBB sent correspondence to EpicVin requesting their voluntary cooperation in providing steps it will implement to eliminate the pattern of customer complaints.

    On April 16, 2024, EpicVin responded to the BBB with the following: "We appreciate your recent communication regarding the pattern of complaints filed against EpicVIN, specifically related to billing issues. As a company committed to transparency and customer satisfaction, we want to assure you that we have taken proactive steps to address these concerns and ensure clarity regarding our subscription terms. This is what we have done to make the subscription terms as transparent as possible: Additional Terms in Order Summary:

    We have added detailed terms related to the subscription to the order summary section on our website. A screenshot of the updated order summary is attached for your reference.

    Prominent Display of Subscription Terms: Previously, the subscription terms were located at the bottom of the page, making them less visible to users. We have now placed the terms prominently below the payment button on our website, ensuring that users have easy access to this information before completing their purchase. Attached are screenshots comparing the previous and current versions of the page for your review.

    In addition to displaying the terms on our website, we send order confirmation emails to customers for all transactions conducted with us. These emails contain detailed information about the subscription, including the trial period duration, conversion to a monthly subscription, and cancellation instructions.

    We believe that these measures have significantly improved the clarity and transparency of our subscription model, addressing the concerns raised by customers and BBB. We remain committed to providing a positive experience for our customers and ensuring that they are fully informed about our services and terms."

    On August 18, 2024, BBB reviewed the latest complaints on file and  determined the pattern continues. BBB will continue to monitor and update the company's report as needed.

      Like so many others, I was reeled in by the offer of a $1 VIN lookup, only to find I was subsequently charged a ***** membership fee that I did not want. The terms and conditions were deliberately concealed in the hopes the buyer would not see them. This is clearly deceptive business practice.

      I used a service by epic vin to get a report about a certain vehicle I wanted to purchase. I was told by their mobile website that I can get the report in 1 usd. So, I paid 1 dollar to get the report on August 4th, 2024. But 3 days later, they charged me ***** dollars for some subscription I never wanted and never signed up for. They saved my card information without my permission and used it to charge me for some service I never signed up for. They didn't email me that my trial period is started and is for this many days and after that I will be charged ***** dollars. Upon asking for refund, they offered ***** dollars credit to my account which is unacceptable. I want full refund for that charge I was made without being notified beforehand!

      Like many others, I was charged $49.99 for a full membership subscription. Email receipts did not state this charge after I paid $1 for a three-day trial.I cancelled this subscription within the 14 day trial period. Started subscription on 7/26/24 and ended 8/3/2024 and they will not refund me $49.99. Their website if confusing and actually overwhelming. ********************************* ************************

      I am rejecting this response because:  they have not specifically said or guaranteed that if I would drop this complaint I will receive a full refund in the amount of $49.99.  I will only be satisfied when they refund me the full amount they deducted from my ****** account and that is $49.99.

      This is their email response to me:  I do not know how to attach an email so I copied and pasted here:  "I'm *****, the manager at EpicVIN. I completely understand your concerns and want to assure you that we are dedicated to resolving this issue promptly.  I can see that you filed a dispute. Unfortunately, in this case your order becomes the bank's matter and we cannot interfere.  If you withdraw your dispute, we will be able to make a refund. Once you close it, please send us the confirmation.
      Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we kindly request that you consider updating your BBB complaint after you have received the refund to accurately reflect the positive outcome. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

      This business promotes a *** lookup for $1 which I did and received the *** information. Upon doing so, they enroll you in a subscription and in the email response today they say it is part of their terms and conditions. I didn't see that and can't find it now. They charged me the initial $1 that I had agreed to on 7/29/24. Then they charged my card $49.99 on 8/1/24. Upon requesting a refund today they said that they will not refund based on their terms and conditions. I want the $49.99 refunded.

      On 8-3-2024 I used the EpicVin site to try and get info on a suspicious vehicle. They said for $1 theres a 3 day trial, afree trail period or if I dont cancel it would be $49.99/month and I can cancel anytime. On 8-6-2024 at 1:15am I recieved an alert my card was trying to be charged for $49.99 from EpicVin. I went to the website, it clearly states I have no active subscriptions (I cancelled free trial about an hour after using it)I emailed them right away and on 8-6-2024 they responded with my subscription automatically initiated after trial period. Which is wrong, you cant initiate anything if you cancel a trial period. They said my subscription has been deactivated (which it already said it was the day I cancelled) and my card will no longer be charged. After reading up on the reviews of this site, it is clear they are predatory scammers. This site needs shut down.

      I canceled the free trial within the the free trial period but I was still charged for a subscription I do not want. I am claiming that they knowingly charged me despite having no right to do so. This is fraud.EpicVin needs to issue me a refund and apologize. They are not a business that provides quality service for a fee. They are conmen.

Received another message on 8/14 staying that a refund will be issued and itll take a few days to clear. Waiting for proof that the refund has been issued.

      Date of transaction: 07/28/24 I paid $1 for a one time look up. I was never informed on the trial and the amount it was. I just got charged $49.99 for a subscription that I was never able to cancel or informed on how to. This is ridiculous. I canceled it and emailed them and all the offered me was a $49.99 credit. To scam people and never give them a notice and not offer a refund. They have not got back with me about me not wanting the credit and just wanting a refund. This is after the fact that the information I was seeking was not even on the website and in the report like it said it was. So not only was the $1 used for nothing I got charged $49.99 for something not in my invoice or advertised. And on top of that they will not respond.
