All About Aluminum, ***************************************************************************** ************ Date of original transaction and cost: August 25, 2022 At that time we gave them a deposit check# **** for $500.00. On Sept, 22, 2022 after this partial installation we gave them a check #**** for $1,040.00 (total = $1,540.00) for the front entryway screen, screen door. The job: For the amount mentioned they agreed to take down the existing screen door, aluminum framing and screening while taking away all the waste.1 They removed the threshold plate and left a ***** nail imbedded in the cement where it could cause an injury to someone.2 Did not caulk outside door framing 3 The door sweep did not work at all 4 Many of the screws holding the framework to the house were put in crooked. 5 after many, many calls to the office and always being promised someone would be out the next week but no one ever showed up, we called their sales **** ***************** He came out and fixed some items and agreed they needed to fix the others. He said he would return in two-weeks to finish taking care of the caulking, putting in a different type of threshold door stop in the floor and he took with him our door sweep leaving us with nothing to close the gap between the door and the cement allowing a variety of creatures (snakes up to 2-feet long, lizards and cockroaches) easy access to our front entry way and then possibly into our house. He has never returned to fulfill those promises even after several calls to his cell phone.6. We called office many, many times and always was told they had us scheduled but no one ever showed up.7. Sent *********************, the company owner we were told, a letter describing problems. We never got a reply.Sincerely, Mr. and ***********************Business Response

1. The homeowner was informed that the old plate would have to be removed for the installation of the new front entry, if there was something we were unaware of and sorry if that is the case that it was missed.
2. The job could not be fully completed at the request of the homeowner due to the fact that he was getting additional work done by others on the home. He wanted us to leave it and he would take care of it.
3. When pavers are involved door sweeps do not always sit correctly because pavers can sit unevenly. This can sometimes cause doors sweeps to be ineffective.
4. Some screws have to be put in at certain angles to make sure they are holding into the home correctly. When **************** went to the home afterwards, he offered to see if he could have them sit in a different way and the homeowner said no.
5. **************** has only just been recently able to find the additional part that was requested by the homeowner, the homeowner was informed that it would take time to find the thresh hold plate as they are not carried in stock as often and often must be special ordered and even then, they end up on back order because they are not used in todays building. **************** plans to contact the homeowner and come out to do as he promised.
6. The work was done a couple days before Hurricane ***, when the company was finally able to return to work we prioritized helping the community clean up mangled and corkscrewed cages that had been devastated in the area, making so homes were safe at the same time the office was being inundated with thousands of phone calls daily with people calling in for help, repairs, and work. Being unprepared for the magnitude of what hurricane ******************* upon the area we attempted and try to get to everyone as quickly as possible.
7. Unfortunately, we did not see a letter come in. We will continue to look for it to see if it got misplaced.

I am rejecting this response because:As of August 16, 2023.
Item #1 **************** did not mention that the sweep would be a problem with the door NEVER closing else we would have got another company.
Item #2 The only request I made was that because we were having gutter work done I believed about 15-inches of screen not be put in the slot in the aluminum framing since the people putting in the new gutter would have to undo the screen and might damage it in doing so. When the owner picked up the check, he said it would not be a problem to send someone out when the gutter was done.
Item#3 See Item #1 above.
Item#4 I did not see that as a problem. It was just a point to emphasize the poor workmanship done by their "best installers".
Item #5 I assume "just recently" means in August 2023. That's 11-MONTHS. That is beyond understanding.
Item #6 Again it has been 11-months surely someone could have called us.
Item #7 That seems to be rather convenient. Our phone still works, and I assume the incomplete trouble order is still opened so someone could have called to let us know what was happening. Then I would have mentioned the letter I sent.
Taking into consideration the type of work done, the lack of responding to my many phone calls, the lost letter I sent, the time lost, the response to the Better Business Bureau notification my concern about them finishing the job properly has been amplified more so than ever. I hope this will soon be concluded.
Sincerely,

All About Aluminum was subcontracted by a pool builder to install a screened pool enclosure at my residence. The enclosure was installed in February of ************************************************* August 2022. The building inspection consisted of viewing the Engineers Plan and a walk-around relying on that the builder followed the engineers' document. During Hurricane *** the pool enclosure totally collapsed causing extensive damage to our roof, windows, stucco siding, pavers and hurricane roll down screens. I contacted the pool builder and All About Aluminum to stop by to look at the damage within 2 days of the storm and neither has arrived to inspect the damage as requested. This enclosure was engineered to withstand 150 mph wind gusts. According to the ************************ the wind gusts in our location was 82mph. I had to begin disassembly of the enclosure to prevent further property damage and realized that there were discrepancies between the engineers plans regarding the anchors used to secure the enclosure to the poured concrete footer around the perimeter of the pool deck. the screws (anchors) according to the engineer had to penetrate the footer at least 2.5 inches. the anchors they used barely entered the footer. As a result of these insufficient anchors, the perimeter pavers were pulled out along with the aluminum base plate. The base plate was 1 inch thick; the travertine paver was **** inches thick, and there was approximately 1/2 inch of mortar securing the paver to the footer. In total, this anchor may have penetrated the footer 1/2 inch when the engineer plans state that it should be 2.5 inches into the footer. Even at the vertical columns, the anchor only went into the footer 1 and a half inch.I received an invoice from All About Aluminum for approximately $34,000 to replace this pool enclosure and $1,500 to remove their failed cage (per the pool builder). This should be a warrantee claim due the defects shown.Business Response

Response to complainant,
BBB Case # ********.
In response to Complainant allegations, All About Aluminum & Screen, **** categorically denies
Complainant claims as to the failure of his pool enclosure.
A) All work was inspected post installation and found compliant by both All About Aluminum &
Screen, *** inspections as well as ************************ departments inspections.
B) Many people have contacted us before, during and after the storm asking to get on our list. We
still have over 700 people we have yet to make initial contact with due to the copious amounts
of damage created by hurricane ***. I have been out to Complainant house, and he removed the
cage before we had a chance to do our own inspection. I have pictures of when I went there. In
Complainant neighborhood alone a few hundred enclosures were destroyed.
C) Complainant assertion that the wind speeds in his location were no greater than 82mph is
completely preposterous. The mass damage alone proves damage way beyond a category one
hurricane. Furthermore, these verified speeds do not account for the tornadic activity known to
be produced by a storm of this magnitude.
D) He did not receive an invoice for $34,000 as stated. He received a quote and nothing more as we
did not provide any work for him after hurricane *******
Fact is many pool enclosures were lost in Hurricane **** hundreds in Complainant community
alone. We have seen mass destruction from this storm, and I would assert that Complainant
pool enclosure failed due to the extreme nature of a category four hurricane and not due to
what he claims.
While we feel sorry for the complainants situation, it was in fact, an act of God that destroyed
his pool enclosure and by no means the fault of All About Aluminum & Screen, ****

I am rejecting this response because:In reply to section:
A) When a Building Inspector inspects completed construction, they do not dismantle the components to determine if the contractor followed the Engineering Plans. They examine the engineering plans and perform a visual inspection of the exposed components relying on the contractor to follow the plans. In my case, the plans were not followed therefore we have a latent defect due to the contractor's failure to following the Engineers documents that I was billed for and have copies of as part of the construction. This pool enclosure was approximately 6 months old and should have been constructed to hurricane standards of 150 MPH gusts and 116 mph sustained winds if engineering was followed. My immediate neighbors' enclosures on both sides of our home, built long before ours have minimal damage. No other cage on our street totally failed. I would also question why All About Aluminum has over 700 calls for pool cage damage.
B) I have driven through our neighborhood and there were a handful of totally collapsed pool enclosures. The enclosure was partially dismantled to prevent further damage to my property (roof, windows siding, hurricane screens etc.) however, the base plate and anchors that did not pull away are still attached to the pavers. We can mutually agree on a date and time of an inspection of these items if All About Aluminum wishes. I don't understand why a contractor would enter private property without notifying the owner of their intention. My complaint centers on the anchoring to the footers and it is still attached and available for inspection.
C) Yes, the hurricane was a category 4 when it made landfall in *** County **. We reside in Sarasota County. When a hurricane makes landfall, the strongest wind is on the right side of the eye because the hurricane rotates in a counterclockwise direction. On The left side of the eye, the wind speed is greatly reduced. I obtained my data from the ************************ instead of innuendo or a broad statement. Additionally, the tornadoes were all located in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area that did not affect the location of our residence. REFERENCES www.wkbn.com/weather/ians-highest-wind-gusts-tornadoes-in-*******/ www.baynews9.com/**/*****/weather/2022/09/29/hurricane-ian-wind-gusts-and-rainfall ( Note: please scroll to ****** (Sarasota County and Tornado info is on the last page.)
D) They are correct, I didn't receive an invoice because I have not contracted with them for a replacement, I did receive a proposal.
It is a fact that many pool cages sustained damage during the hurricane such as some structural, repairable damage and screen damage but only a limited number totally blew away extracting the pavers along with the structure. The majority of the structure landed between my home and my neighbor's property. I immediately contacted the pool contractor (*****************) and requested an inspection. The response that I received was not the least bit helpful and bordered on arrogant. At that point, i needed to remove the cage from my neighbor's property and prevent further damage to our newly built pool. All About Aluminums phones were not functioning due to the storm.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:All About Aluminum retained legal counsel to suggest that I remove a ******** post stating that **** inch screws could not penetrate the footer 2.5 inches per engineering after going through **** inches of solid material then through .5 inches of mortar. I stand by my statement and will not remove my post, Defamation would require false allegations to be made against their client, and as I previously stated, the above can be easily verified with an inspection. In 6 months and as a result of Hurricane ***, the cost of pool enclosures has increased approximately 50%. In February the (verbally stated) cost of my pool enclosure build was approximately $22,000, now its $34,000.00, I guess that's internally justified as "supply and demand"???
Sincerely,
