Paid for concrete slab and screen enclosure. 3100. down, 3100. when slab poured and balance when screen enclosure finished. Paid is *****. Now have not been able to contact because phones are disconnected. They have poured the slab. It is now 5 months since they started the job.Business Response

Good Afternoon,
Upon receiving this complaint, ***** **** stated that she "have not been able to contact because phones are disconnected" so we reached out to the homeowner directly. When speaking with the homeowner we asked which number she was calling to reach our office because we have never disconnected our number. The first number she read off to me us had the wrong area code and the second number she provided was our old office number from two years ago. I then provided her with the correct phone number to contact the office; which is also provided for homeowners on our contract.
The homeowner also stated she has "paid for the concrete and screen enclosure", which is not completely correct - she paid the required deposit at contracting and her payment for the concrete once it was completed; no portion for the screen enclosure has been paid.
Lastly, we are still within our time frame since contracting. At contracting we gave her a time frame of 4-6 months from contract to installation and she is at 4 months and 10 days and her enclosure is currently being built as it was next on our list.
Sincerely,
Sauer and Sons Team

Thank you for your attention. Sauer and Sons as of today have finished the job and it is very satisfactory. I have no doubt that without your attention I would have waited the full six months that I would certainly never have contracted for as was reported to you.
Again, Thank you.

I have used **************************** (based in *****) several times, and up until now, I have been satisfied with their work. However, on May 1st, 2024 they came to rebuild my carport which was destroyed by Hurricane ***. I was at home the whole time they were there. Without any warning, walk-thru or letting me know that they had finished and were leaving, they ************** walk thru was done by them to ensure that the work was fully completed. Well, it wasnt! Screws hanging loose &/or not screwed in to ensure that the structure was safe and secured. Leaks from where the aluminum roof was Iattached persisted (and when the old carport was there, I never had any leaks). The Site Manager did stop by, saw the leaks and said that their needed to be foam &/or sealent used and that he would send someone (*****) to take care of this and the loose/missing screws. Despite repeated requests no one ever came back out! I have approx. 14 emails in my file about my complaint. On the rare occasions that I did get a response their was always an excuse i.e. its raining, well stop by next week, ****** my carport roof remains unsecure and water is leaking down from the gaps. I am rejecting this response because: Although Sauer & Son has made contact with me, their Site Manager came out and made some repairs, but the roof is still leaking. I contacted the business and they said they will have someone come out again shortly.

Yes, the Site Manager did come out and installed the foam on the date stated. However, we have not had rain for many days, and when it did finally rain a little, it was obvious that a leak still existed, although smaller than before. However, I do not wish to have them come back and "try again" to fix their shoddy workmanship. Therefore I consider my complaint closed as "Unsatisfactory". Thank You for your assistance.Customer Answer

Hello,
Our general manager made a site visit on November 6th and attempted to make contact with the customer, she would not answer the door but she was home and her vehicle was there. We have provided a picture of the foam insert we installed.
We want to make a note on the condition of the outside of the customer's home as hazardous as far as urine and f**** smell from her animals which makes it very hard to do any type of work at this location. Our installers got sick when they installed this job. The smell is so strong that it is almost impossible to even work there. I feel like the customer only wants to make complaints to the BBB office and will not do anything to assist us in taking care of this matter. At this point, I am at a loss and do not know how to remedy this situation without her corporation and without the hazardous smell being addressed.
Sincerely,
Sauer and Sons

Please close out this complaint. I have no further comments for this business, but I would like to point out that I did actually acknowledge the Construction Manager's presence and spoke to him upon his arrival. And like many other people, I keep my trash cans outside, so trying to claim that there is an odor ffrom my home/patio/outside has absolutely nothing to do with the poor quality workmanship done by them in the paast.Customer Answer

I just re-read Sauer's response and had to response to their outrageous response with regards to the animal smell. The allegation that their installers got sick from the odor is hilarious & total BS. Why, because they were working OUTSIDE in the fresh air! How can this alleged allegation have anything to do with the quality of their work?? This is just another ploy to discredit my complaint! The water leaks were caused by poor workmanship & inefficiency, & has/had nothing to do with "the odor" they complain about. I have a dog, whom I walk on the street , so they can just add my complaint to their growing lists of complaints with The BBB, about poor, unshoddy, unprofessional, work they do !!Initial Complaint

November 17, 2022, I hired Sauer and Sons Construction, **** to enclose my patio. The work was completed at the end of February 2023. Immediately, the rainy season arrived and the roof leaked as if there was no roof. I made several attempts to contact the firm and did not obtain a response until I stated, "I am filing a complaint with the county." The firm conducted several visits and said the issue was handled. This issue continued and at that point I contacted the ********************************************************). Their response was the work identified in your complaint does not require a license from this department. As such we have no jurisdiction to investigate. I filed a complaint with *********************************************** They were of no help as well. I paid all of the permitting fee, blue prints and hired a licensed contractor as the county highly recommended. As of March 28,2024, the roof is still leaking. The firm said someone would come out April 4th or 5th. No visit from them. I paid $10,700.00 at the completion of the task and my roof is still leaking. I simply want this issue resolved. Why hire a licensed contractor, if the departments making me hire licensed contractors have no control.Business Response

Good Morning,
We made several site visits to address *************************************** leak previously, even though he is now out of his labor warranty with Sauer and Sons Construction **** On 2/5/2024 our complaint *************************************** made with the county was closed out because the issue had been resolved from an email we received from *************************************** "It appears everything is working fine I've had two major storms since ******** was out here and I have not discovered any leaks whatsoever so at this point I would think the issue has been handled."
On 3/28/2024 *************************************** sent us an email that he had a leak. The picture that was provided has also been provided in this response. We responded to his email immediately and let him know we would be out next week to address. On 4/2/2024 he sent us an email following up on that appointment, 9 minutes later our general manager sent him a message letting him know he will be in the area on Thursday 4/4/2024 in the afternoon and with the expected rainy weather we were to receive on Wednesday 4/3/2024 we did not want to try to repair because it would not have enough time to dry before the rain began. We did not receive an email back from ***************************************.
Our general manager still made a site visit to *************************************** residence on Thursday 4/4/2024 and addressed his leak. Since Thursday 4/4/2024 we have had absolutely no rain in the area for a leak to develop. On 4/9/2024 @ 4:50 pm, *************************************** sent us an email "following up on someone repairing this leak" which we responded to his email on 4/10/2024 @ 9:07 AM, informing him that our general manager addresses the leak last week on 4/4/2024 and that we addressed the leak but have not received any rain since and that our general manager had used the roller seal from before and even touched up a few spots just in case.
Sincerely,
Sauer and Sons Team

I am rejecting this response because: *********** represents it is a high quality product and appears to guarantee its work. I spend a large amount of money on this project and to be told I am outside the labor warranty is unacceptable. In my view, the craftsmanship should always be covered. I have wasted over a year of my time handling this issue. I do not believe it should have been an issue at all. As a homeowner, I want what I pay for to be completed properly and worth the expense. Although, the firm has come out several times, the problem is still there. There has not been any precipitation since last week. I guest I must await the next storm to determine the status of the task. No matter the outcome, this is crazy that I have been dealing with this issue since February 2023! I also request a partial refund in the amount of $2,500.00, due to the stress, time and difficulty of arranging my schedule to accommodate the firm. I am probably going have to find a different company to come and correct what Sauer and Sons cannot seem to correct!
Sincerely,
*****************************Business Response

Good Morning,
We are as well rejecting your response because you have stated in email to us directly that the issue had been resolved along with your final inspection passing with the County on 1/23/2023 and your permit being CO'd. As per your contract that you signed with Sauer and Sons Construction, it states a 1 year labor warranty. Your labor warranty was up in Jan 2024. Since then we have made 3 additional site visits to your residence since your warranty has expired, free of charge, to address your leak concerns because we do in fact stand behind our workmanship and want to address any concerns you may have after the project has been completed.
On Feb 5th 2024, you stated in an email to us directly "It appears everything is working fine I've had two major storms since ******** was out here and I have not discovered any leaks whatsoever so at this point I would think the issue has been handled." which is another reason we are rejecting your response. We have informed you that site visits are / were being scheduled with no return correspondence from you. We have also informed you that if a leak arises to reach out to us directly and we can have it addressed promptly, which you did on March 27 2024 and we informed you that we would be out the following week. April 2nd 2024 our general manager responded to your email about the rain for Wed, April 3rd and wanted to wait before he came back out. April 4th 2024 our general manager made his site visit, we informed you via email April 10 2024 of what was addressed, with no response back from you.
If you read the back of your contract or under the Terms and Conditions link on our proposals, it states no refunds, therefore you will not be receiving a refund while we have actively tried to resolve this matter for you! You stated in your rejection response "I want what I pay for to be completed properly and worth the expense" which we have stood by our our end. The enclosure we constructed is usable, and the last picture you submitted to us directly had 1 little droplet of water but we have not received any rain since it was addressed on April 4 2024.
Your statement of "arranging my schedule to accommodate the firm" is also incorrect as previously we scheduled site visits on your days off (Friday's) and you have not been present for our last few site visits while our general manager was due to your work schedule. As we have stated before to you, please reach out to us directly if you have any issues and we will be happy to assist you. With the rain we are supposed to receive today, April 11 2024, please submit pictures and / or videos to our email so we can document and resolve this matter.
Sincerely,
Sauer and Sons Team

This is how it works for a consumer that has followed all of the rules? I spent hard earn money on what was supposed to be a professional job, and I have spent hours and days attempting to receive what I paid for! I am not satisfied at all! All of the agencies that are designed to help the consumer has failed me! I wasted over $10,000.00 on that firm. This is not the last of this issue! I am not taking this! I wasted more time dealing with the BBB!Initial Complaint

They started screening in my front porch on October 31st and were done on November 3rd. I told him before they were finished are they going to replace this pole that was dented? They just painted it the next Them the gaps are too big under the doors. It's a whole inch. But first I said they were going to fix it and they said they're not going to do it then they said they would send somebody again but nobody ever showed up. They made up that they aren't responsible for it because of some red trash can that doesn't exist.
