Past & Present motorcars committed to provide me a properly functioning 1970 Chevrolet *********** dispute is when the car arrived at my home on 11/5/2024, it was not running properly. There was numerous issues with the car. Since then I have had the necessary repairs performed which they refuse to pay, so no they aren't willing to resolve the problem

      Business Response

Response to BBB Complaint Past & Present Motor Cars
      Dear Better Business Bureau,
We appreciate the opportunity to respond to ******** complaint and provide clarification on the situation. We take customer satisfaction very seriously and always strive to ensure transparency and fairness in all transactions.
****** purchased a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle from us, and throughout the process, we maintained clear and open communication with him. Here are the key facts regarding this transaction:
Thorough Pre-Delivery Inspection & Test Drives
Before delivery, our team test-drove the vehicle multiple times to confirm it was running, driving, and shifting properly. We took extra timeat ******* encouragementto ensure the car was in top condition before it was shipped.
      ******** Personal & Third-Party Inspection
****** personally inspected the car and arranged for a third-party inspector to assess it. The inspector reported that the vehicle performed well, confirming our findings. At no point did ****** raise concerns during these inspections.
Signed Contracts & "As-Is" Purchase Agreement
****** was fully aware that this was a classic vehicle purchase and signed multiple contract pages and addendums explicitly stating that inspections were encouraged, and that the vehicle was being purchased as-is. By signing these agreements, ****** acknowledged that he was responsible for any repairs or modifications after the sale.
******* Own Repairs & Admission of Unnecessary Work
After receiving the vehicle, ****** mentioned he was taking it to a local mechanic for further evaluation. Later, he admitted to performing extensive work on the car, much of which he stated was his own choice and not necessary. Despite this acknowledgment, he later presented us with a large repair bill, expecting reimbursement.
      Resolution Attempt & Generous Offer
When ****** first requested financial compensation, we expressed that we did not believe we should be responsible for repairs beyond our original agreement, especially after he had confirmed that much of the work was his decision. Nevertheless, in an effort to reach an amicable resolution, we made a generous financial offer to assist. ****** declined this offer, stating he would rather receive nothing than accept the proposed amount. The conversation ended on this note.
Complaint Filed After Declining Our Offer
Following this discussion, ****** submitted this complaint, which does not fully reflect the facts of the situation. We made every effort to deliver a properly functioning vehicle, as evidenced by our test drives, third-party inspection, signed agreements, and ******* own statements.
We regret that ****** is dissatisfied, but we stand by our commitment to providing quality vehicles and fair business practices. We remain open to further discussion in good faith should he wish to revisit the matter in a reasonable manner.
      Sincerely,
      Past & Present Motor Cars

I am not satisfied with the response from the business because:

Yes I did sign an as-is contract but was hesitant to do so, but **** (owner who I dealt with) assured me that the car would be in "good running condition" when it arrived here.

It took the 5 months to deliver the car after I paid for it in full. I have numerous text messages to prove that fact. With them trying 3 different motors (I paid $6,000.00 extra for the to rebuild the motor) before they stated they got it right.

I don't care if they say they test drove the vehicle because the truth is that the first day after I received the car, I got stuck not once but twice on the side of the road. Does that sound like a car that was in good running condition.

Then I had to wait a month to get the car into a classic car repair shop. So I paid $82,000.00 for a car I couldn't even drive after it arrived .And yes I had other repairs done on the vehicle because it is 55 years old and I elected to replace some worn original parts. Note that I did not ask them for any of that money, ZERO. But of the $24,000.00 additional monies that I spent, I only asked the business to pay for the common sense components that needed repair to make the car drivable. Engine, brakes, lights and those repairs came to $2,850.00 which I felt was more than fair.

**** offered me $500.00 which was not sufficient. I think it was more or less for me to go away. If the business had just kept their word and delivered the car like they promised this wouldn't be an issue right now.

I purchased a car from past and present motor cars on February 23rd. It is a 2017 mustang gt. I paid ********* for it. The car was represented to me to be in great shape with zero problems. The car was shipped to me in *********. It arrived with some cosmetic damage, major engine problems and 1500 more miles put on it after I bought it. I have contacted the dealer about these issues and the only thing they said they would do for me is to ship the car back to them at a cost of over ******** to me and they would consign it for me. I told them they were nuts and thats the last time we spoke.

      Dear **************,

Im truly sorry to hear about the issues youve experienced with your 2017 Mustang GT purchase from Past & Present Motor Cars, we strive to provide all of our customers with accurate ****************************** of our vehicles and top-notch service, and I regret that this wasnt your experience.

      Regarding the concerns youve raised:

      1. Cosmetic Damage: I apologize for the cosmetic damage the vehicle sustained during transport. We inspect every vehicle thoroughly before shipping, and Im disappointed to learn that this occurred. While we rely on third-party transport companies, I understand how frustrating this must be.

      2. Engine Problems: Its concerning to hear that the car arrived with issues. This is certainly not the condition we intended to deliver, as the vehicle was inspected before leaving our lot. I would like to work with you to better understand these issues and see how we can assist.

      3. Mileage Discrepancy: The discrepancy of miles is unusual and something I take very seriously. The car should have been delivered with the mileage as advertised. You and I have discussed this concern and while disclaimed never should have happened and has been addressed accordingly.

When we offered to take the car back on consignment, our goal was to provide a solution that might alleviate the situation. However, I understand that this was not the resolution you were looking for, and I apologize if it seemed dismissive of your concerns.

Im open to discussing alternative resolutions that might better address the problems youve encountered. Please feel free to contact me directly at ************ so we can find a satisfactory solution.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, and I hope we can work together to resolve this issue.

      Sincerely,

      ****
      President
