I contacted Energy Air to fix a damper issue with my air-conditioner. They charged me $130 for the technical visit which I agreed even though I told them what the problem was. They surprised my daughter and charged her an additional $102.50 for what they claim cost to clean of the drain pipe. I call them about it and they recognized that it was a mistake and agreed to credit me the additional charge which to date I have not received it. Later I received an email with a quote for $1,192.99 to fix the damper which involved replacing the damper motor. They quoted me the damper motor $559.54 plus labor $633.45. I investigated and found out that the damper motor costs in the market $96 and to replace it it would take less than 30 minutes. Needless the say I purchased the motor and replace it myself in 10 minutes. Why are these business taking advantage of people!! I understand it is a business and expect to have a reasonable gain on the parts and labor but to outright still from people just because it is the peak of the summer and they know we are desperate to keep or families safe. This is outrageous.

Had a new complete unit installed a years ago, this included the duct work the garage unit and outside unit. I complained about the smell coming from the unit. They sent a representitive to check smell, they basically said. I believe just pour vinagar or bleach down the drain of unit monthly to flush drain. Myself and my daughter litetally was feeling overwhelmed by scent. I feel this is making me sick. Sinuses issues has been the worse ever. I have been getting annual service check up. The scent is hurendous especially when switch from air to heat. Praying this is not killing me. I now have pulmonary nodules unsure where it came from also relengthless sinus irritation. They basically was upset because i question the charges for parts and labor for unit under 10 year warrenty. Told me they wont do maintainance check to get it elsewhere. I get headaches and sinus issues all the time. I am not sure whats happening

Based off of good references from neighbors, I signed on with their platinum maintenance program. $485.00 for two service maintenances a year. I have two older systems, Carrier 2-ton which is roughly 15 years and Trane 3-ton which is roughly 10 years. Knowing that eventually we'd replace them due to age, I wanted to keep them maintained as well as possible up to that time to extend the life. They both have worked flawlessly. Maintenance tech arrived to do first platinum maintenance and promptly told us the carrier system might have a leak and wasn't allowed to maintenance that old of a system. He says that we could talk to company about adjusting price since he'd only do maintenance on one, the newer Trane. He did the maintenance on the one Trane unit and left. One hour later, AC would not keep temperature at 78 where we normally keep it. Temp was high, around 84. It had never done this before. I turned unit off for safety. Called Energy Air, asked them to come address issue. They said they'd send someone but no one showed. Spent night without AC. Next morning I call them again for help. Tech arrives around noon, turns the unit on, and then promptly tells me that the compressor has blown and there was refrigerant spewing out everywhere. Compressor had a large hole in the side. The company of course claims this can't be a maintenance technician mistake and said that this type of thing happens to older systems. The unit worked perfectly for years before the techs touched it. Then, after they "did the platinum maintenance", I'm having to buy a brand new unit. And best part: I get to pay for it because, and I quote the tech: "this would never be a maintenance technician fault." My suggestion to anyone reading this....go find another company. This was pure ineptitude at its finest. And it'll cost me thousands now and they refuse to own their mistake.

I had a very expensive 19 SEER Infinity Carrier System installed with new duct work in Nov. 2011. From the very beginning, the install did not go well: they had a condensing pad too small to set the unit on, they didn't have deburring tools to round the inside of the copper tubing before braising it, they didn't have nitrogen to purge the new tubing contaminants, as well as to check for any leakages, they didn't know how to set up the new thermostat, in which they had to come back the next day to set up, and they didn't install a sheet metal plenum right from the air handler to maintain static air pressure. (I have the before and after pictures taken by another company.) I called them within a few weeks of the install to complain about reduced air flow from my vents. Their service manager stated that the air pressure was "adjusted downward so that you wouldn't have noisy vents." They did send a tech out to my home to verify the air velocity, but only to support their premise. Since my system did not have the proper air flow because the static air pressure was much lower, my system had to work much harder to maintain cooling and humidity removal during the spring/summer/fall seasons. My expensive system lasted 10yrs. 2 months and 2 weeks, of which the warranty was for only 10yrs. It should have lasted 5-7 yrs. longer. They have chosen not to make a fair and good will offer for their screw ups. They've sent a tech to my home only to state that they don't have much experience with these systems, hence that was another reason why I didn't go with them, and why I wouldn't recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

      Mr. *****,
Energy Air's documents show we were not contracted to replace your refrigerant line set. Our documents show Energy Air was contracted to flush existing lines with r-11 solvent. Energy Air also has documentation showing we were not contracted to install a "sheet metal plenum". Furthermore our documents show your installation was permitted and passed by your local municipality-- Marion County,

Energy Air's response shows that they're in the wrong field. They installed new copper lines and a new condensate line. Re: "sheet metal plenum": they installed a whole new duct work system with sheet metal boxes down line from the air handler. These are to maintain the static air pressure coming off a properly designed transition from the air handler had they done so. Hence, a properly sized sheet metal plenum would have established the requisite static air pressure for my whole house duct system.
Obfuscation and just plain stupidity don't address the problems that they caused! Plus, I brought this to their attention in the beginning: Their service manager stated that the air pressure was "adjusted downward so that you wouldn't have noisy vents." Absolute nonsense!
I sent them the before and after pictures...any reputable A/C co. and tech professional would agree with my complaint.
If the BBB allows pictures, just let me know...I'll send them to you as proof to my complaint.

I had a complete system replaced. Attic, garage and outside unit. $12,890. I was charged $1888 for an extended 10 warranty parts and labor. I was told by Donna Jo that it wasn't correct that I shouldn't be charged for parts because it comes from with the unit from the manufactory of the carrier unit. She sent me a new contract charging only the $888 amount. She called to tell me someone their at energy Air said she had to charge for parts also the original charge. She seemed very perplexed not seeming to understand why. Long story short. I kept calling inquiring about this charge for a year. Calls transferred to several people no one seem to be able to explain the charges. I tried to get the one year naintainance check. They would not schedule it because i kept asking about the parts and labor charge that i had to pay. The told be to call a warrantee company. They were giving me the run around saying someone will call me back. I called Carrier they said i should not be charged for parts charged only for labor. Carrier manufactory said it was illegal for them to charge for parts. I called energy air to inform them of what Carrier said. They again gave me the run around. I had home depot to do the maintenance check because energy air refused to schedule the check because i kept questioning the contract for parts and labor that i signed. I call several times to no avail....getting run around. Finally i called they transferred to call to i guess some supervisor who claimed Donna Jo was saying she didnt say anything like that. Spoke with her several times before she transferred me to several different people. Now this recent call they all pretend that they had no clue about the contract. I told the fellow I can send him a copy. He VERY RUDELY STATED HE DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT CONTRACT I WAS GIVEN. Said his contract is several pages long. I SAID DONNA JO SENT BOTH OF THEM TO ME. THE ONE FOR $1888 ALSO $888 without the parts. SHE CALLED AND TOLD ME THEY SAID SHE HAD TO CHARGE ORIGINAL $1888. THE RUDE DESPICABLE MAN TOLD ME THAT ITS NOT THEIR CONTRACT BECAUSE THEIRS ARE SEVERAL PAGES LONG AND THE ONES I SIGNED AND PAID FOR WHICH THEY CASHED WAS ONLY ONE PAGE SENT VIA MAIL BY DONNA JO. HE RUDELY TOLD ME NOT TO CALL AGAIN GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO MY MAINTENANCE CHECK AND HANG UP ON ME. THIS IS A DESPICABLE PERSON TO BE A PART OF ANY BUSINESS. I CERTAINLY WISH THEY WOULD GET THEIR DAMN EQUIPMENT AND RETURN MY $14,778. THEY HAD NO PROBLEM TAKING MY CASH NO THIS DISRESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR. WISH THEY WOULD GO OUT OF BUSINESS FOR TREATING CUSTOMERS THIS WAY. HOPEFULLY ITS NOT ONLY THE BLACK CUSTOMERS. TOTALLY DISGUSTED FOR CHOOSING THEM.

      Good Afternoon Ms. **********

Thank you for taking the time to have a conversation with me today. I understand your main concern and confusion was based on the wording of the extended warranty contract that stated "2-10 Year Parts and Labor Extended Warranty" versus "10 Year Labor and Refrigerant Warranty".

I have attached a copy of your Product Registration which covers the Factory Authorized Parts warranty. I have also attached a copy of your Premium Protection Plan which states "COVERAGE: "Labor and Refrigerant begins 91 days from plan purchase". Also please note your maintenance requirements on page 3 of 11 of your Premium Protection Plan".

As discussed, Energy Air will issue you a credit via check (U.S. Mail) for the amount of $1888.00 for your confusion and inconvenience. Your Factory Parts Warranty and your extended "Labor and Refrigerant Warranty" will remain in effect.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

      Sincerely,
