I went to the Ruben's Tires located at ******************************* on early February for an oil change. I inquired about a diagnostic for a check engine light. They quoted me at more than $900 for a catalytic converter. I was in another area later that month and decided to call the Ruben's Tires located at *************************************** *******, FL *****. They gave me a quote for a little over $600. I had the part ordered and brought the car in. They charge me a little additional due to an exhaust manifold replacement. In total I spent almost a $1000.00. About a week later the check engine light turned on again, so I went back to the location at *************************************** They only put the *** II scanner and told me that there wasn't an issue. Yesterday 03/07/24 my car gave out on the highway with the same issue and loud exhaust noise and loss of power. I am towing my car and taking my business elsewhere.Customer Answer

Today I took my vehicle to a Pepboys and was quoted for $3,640. They stated that Ruben's Tires only welded and looks like they didn't do a good job.Business Response

To whom it may concern, **************** came and we did replace the catalytic and exhaust manifold on February the third .The difference in prices between our locations was due to the parts being after market like we explained to the customer.
The second time customer came we did a scanner, and no codes or misfire were present at the time, so we suggested if the problem persist then we will have to go forward with original parts from dealership.All our jobs has warrranty and we will love that **************** give us the opportunity to check the car again and resolve the problem.

I am rejecting this response because:I was stuck on the highway, I did take my vehicle to the Ruben's Tires days prior because the check engine light came on again, they put the scanner and deleted the code. I had to take my car to Pepboys and had the service completed at over $3,000 because of the negligence of this business. It's ok I will contact an attorney for legal litigation.

On August 20 I went to Rubens Tires and ask for a tuneup, they asked me what was going on with the car and I describe the symptoms and they said they recommend that I get an inspection. I agreed to get the inspection and they came back and told me that my spark plugs and engine coil one needed to be replaced. I agreed to except those replacements so therefore I pay for an inspection, the spark plugs, and a new engine coil. When I arrive to pick my car back up, immediately as soon as I drove off the lot I knew it was not repaired. I didn't have time to take the car back at that moment so I called him and we agreed I would return the following day. The following day I went back and at this time after Ruben inspect the car he informed me that there was one of the spark plugs out of the set a four that was replaced and so they just replace all four spark plugs . I did not get any documentation from Ruben at that time because none was given. Although the spark plugs had now been replaced I was still having the same symptoms with the car. So I decided OK well I'll go to********* and have them hook it to the machine to see what the issue is since this was continuing. The machine diagnose a misfire detected in cylinder one. I take the car back to Ruben to let him know I'm still having that same issue and it's telling me that the misfire is coming from engine coil one which should be replaced. At this time he does another inspection on the car and tells me that not only is it engine coil one coming up, he proceeds to tell me what if I've done the spark plugs and I fix the engine coil then it must be the fuel injection system. My problem with all of this is if he's an expert mechanic in the business for many years, Why was a proper diagnosis not given initially. Second of all if engine coil one is still defective and it showing that not only on the machine at********* but also his machine why is he not replacing that when I'm still under warranty?Business Response

I purchased a transmission from this business and they initially offer that my vehicle was going to be ready on November 2, they were supposed to have everything ready when the new transmission arrives and it arrived on Oct 31 and they didn't have started to work on my vehicle. When I came to the shop on Nov 2 the car wasn't ready. ************** told me the car was going to be ready on Nov 5 and the car wasn't ready this day then they said the car was needing programming of the transmission and the bring the car to another place to be this job done and they offer to me the car to be ready no later than Nov 8 and when I went to the place to pick up my car the car wasn't ready they didn't make the appointment on advance or prepare everything to my car be ready. They told to me the car was ready on Nov 14 but when I went to the shop they raised the prices on my invoice and the car wasn't totally ready also I had to call the police in order to they release my vehicle after I made the payment I'm requesting a compensation for all the time that my vehicle was in the shop and the damages caused for their negligenceBusiness Response

I went to get a full synthetic oil change. I noticed my engine sounded funny and after driving 40 miles smelled oil. I went to look under the hood and the oil cap was not replaced properly after the oil change.Business Response
