The services agreed to were competent appliance adjustments to promote jaw development and heal
my TMJ using the VIVOS DNA appliance. After 5 follow-up appointments, my provider showed her
incompetence in adjusting the device, which resulted in worsening of my TMJ condition. Specifically, a
lack of care and precision was given to the acrylic bite splint of the DNA appliance. This lack of precision
led to more pressure on the musculature and joints. A common problem I experienced was the most
even bite on the splint was with my jaw retracted, which was a very unfavorable position for my joints, it
led to pain and jaw locking. Another problem I faced was that not all of my 4 molars and pre-molars
were biting on the device in a neutral biting position. I addressed these problems to my provider and the
problems were never solved.
Over the weeks of visits, my condition worsened, I wasted hours of my time, and lost countless hours of
sleep.
The dentist offered me a partial refund of $4950, but I found that unacceptable. I disputed through my
credit card company and that is not appearing to be as effective as I thought.
After receiving an itemized receipt that the Dentist gave my credit card company, she grossly
overcharged me and shifted prices up for services she performed after I paid, when some of them were
advertised as free. According to the itemized receipt, she charged $110 taking pictures and $750 for a
CBCT scan which were part of a free consult. She charged me $1,250 for TENS therapy, I was told there
was no cost for this, a TENS therapy unit is also very cheap the amount of work they did, does not add
up to $1,250. Lastly, they charged me $6,500 for appliance therapy, when the original partial refund was
$4950. If I paid $10,500 and the appliance was $6,500 they would be taking a loss of $950 just off the
appliance alone, it seems they are fraudulently inflating prices.
