On July 20, 2024 I had this company come out to fix my garage door as per my home warranty company which was American home shield they told me that they could fix certain things but I would have to pay $469 to have the spring as well as the pulleys fixed on the garage door I said well I can't even open the door so we have to get it done they did the repairs and it worked for about 6 months after I maintained it used a silicone spray on the spring the pulleys and cables on the side snapped. I called them back basically they couldn't get anybody out for a week meanwhile my garage door is open and I cannot fix it to get it down again I pleaded with them to get somebody out here as soon as possible because it was warranted still like again nobody out I had another company come out who told me I should not have had just one spring but two and the pulleys and the cables that they put on here were made for a single garage door and not a double garage door this company ripped me off and I have no recourse at this point stay away from them stay away do not use this company they used subpar products and I was not satisfied with their workInitial Complaint

10/15/2024 I have a home warranty and Winston Garage door was dispatched to come fix my door. When the technician came out I found out that he had been to my place over the summer for another issue that we had. We have a 2 car garage, and the technician argued with me that he hadn't worked on the same door. We went back and forth about it and I had 2 family members confirm that it was in fact the same door. He so rude I immediately called my warranty company to file a complaint and to tell them not to send this company out to my home again. The last time he was here my mom was home and dealing with him. At that time he told her the repair wasn't covered and charged us $450. This time when he came out he said that the issue wasn't covered again, although I knew it was. The finding he sent to the warranty company were false. I reported this to the company as well. He then told me that the motor was fried due to the issue that he came out for. He tried to tell me that I needed to buy a new motor and it could cost me $650-$1150, on top of the $300 I was forced to pay because of his false claim. I told him I didn't want to replace the motor at that time. I then called the warranty company back and asked if the motor was covered and it was. So a new company was dispatched to fix the motor. Winston ******************* seems to commit fraud and swindles people out of hundreds to thousands of dollars. I highly recommend never using this company.Customer Answer

Winston Doors LLC was the company that our home warranty provider *** assigned to us when needing our extension spring repaired. The installer was supposed to show up between 11am-4pm. He called around 2pm to tell me he was running behind and that he could get to my house by 4:30pm. He texted later and said he was 20 minutes away from my house and would be arriving by 5:00pm. By 5:40pm he was still not at my house. Claims he got a flat tire. In my first phone call with him, I told him that we had an extension spring break on the phone and he thanked me for telling him that. He also asked me to take photos of it and text him. I did, and he called me back saying that I needed a whole new garage track, rollers, cables, etc...for an additional $900 out of my pocket. This is beyond the $125 service we paid to ***. I asked him that I just needed the extension spring replaced only. He said that would still cost $680 because of the additional repairs needed that weren't covered by the warranty. The track and rollers on our garage door were serviced last year and have been completely fine. Our extension spring was broke, that was all. Ultimately, I canceled the work order request with *** and got refunded my $125. Winston Doors LLC it seems to have a system where they extort money from the insurance claims because they know its not lucrative enough. They love the insurance leads, for sure, but they are taking advantage of the system. DO NOT ALLOW THIS COMPANY TO COME TO YOUR HOME. BE AWARE.Initial Complaint

We had an estimate done on our garage in July and it was determined by Winston doors that our entire door, track, and motor needed to be replaced. We set up for them to come do the install and the estimated time of arrival was that Saturday from 11am to 3pm on July 27th. Nobody showed and we couldn't get ahold of the company. They finally called us at 9pm stating they would be by in 2 hours or could be by first thing Sunday morning at 8:30am the 28th. We agreed to the am time. They then proceeded to not show until 3pm in the afternoon. One man with an unmarked pick up arrived to install our 18ft by 6ft garage door. He unloaded all materials and then disappeared. After 2 hours he sent us a message that he forgot the motor for our garage and would be right back. He didn't rearrive until 8pm. He worked on the garage until approximately 1am. When he left, there was screws and bolts all over our garage and our driveway. The door was operational but didn't open or close well. I attempted to contact the company again that I didn't feel installation was done approximately. It is now the 12th of August and on the 10th our garage stopped working. They were supposed to come out 8.14 from 11-3 and have since ghosted us and took our moneyInitial Complaint

My garage door opener stopped working so I contacted my home warranty company. They sent out Winston Doors to repair/replace the unit for my $75 deductible. This deductible covers all costs associated with the repair/replacement.The tech said I needed a new unit, and per the contract I owed them $75. The tech then said he would need an extra $300 in maintenance costs before he installed the unit. I refused and he left my property without fixing anything.Additionally I got another company to come out and give me an estimate. They said the mechanics on the door were in good working order and needed no maintenance. They confirmed it needed a new opener unit. They confirmed the $300 extra by Winston Doors was a scam.Upon writing a ****** review, I discovered this is a common practice for them to try and tack on extra fees to customers. Virtually all reviews stated this. This company only operates under home warranty companies and does not do business with the general public unless you have a home warranty. This issue is still unresolved and the garage door is still broken. I need them to fix my garage door for the $75 per my contract.Initial Complaint

2/15/23, I submitted a service request to my home warranty company (AHS) for a broken spring on my garage door. Winston Doors (WD) contacted me to schedule the service on 2/17, then rescheduled for 2/18. WD tech, Mike, looked at the garage door & determined that the spring was indeed broken, since it is dual tension, he wouldn't be able to replace the broken spring unless he also replaced the 2nd spring which wasn't broken- an estimate of $500. He also told me that I should replace the wheels with rubber ones simply for the “quietness.” I acknowledged the liability associated with having two different tensions & allowed him to replace both springs, but not the wheels. I questioned why there was an out-of-pocket cost with replacing both springs since it's a liability to not have the same tension. The tech said that most warranties only cover the broken piece. Called AHS to verify what the coverage was on my plan & the associate verbally told me that the work completed was covered but they would have to wait for the report from the tech to verify. Few weeks later I call AHS. Again, said they were waiting on the report from WD. I continued to call and chat with AHS reps, weekly sometimes twice a week for updates. I tried to call WD on the multiple numbers on their website, all met with a dead end- voicemail box was full or it rang until the call got disconnected. 4/14, I message their business page through ********, no response. 4/17, I text the number on their website, no response. 4/25, I text the same number telling them I was submitting their charge as fraud if I didn't receive a response, finally got a reply. Again, I text WD on 4/26, when AHS verified they did not receive the additional report. The information provided to AHS from WD doesn't match the services they provided in the invoice given to me. AHS assured me that the services on the invoice are in fact covered under the warranty, but the reports provided to them show services that are not covered.Initial Complaint

Choice Hm Warranty sent Fred, with Winston Doors, to fix my garage door opener. I was to pay ONLY the $85 servc fee. I requested to pay the difference between the basic unit ($300) to get the upgraded unit that included the Wifi. When Fred came to fix it, He gave me no estimate for the charge and I trusted he would follow the Choice Hm Wty process. When he finished, he did not allow me to pay with checks so instead of paying 85 for service fee, charged my bank 87. He also did not tell me that Choice Warranty had ONLY approved to fix the Logic Board and had ALREADY paid him $165.00 for it. Besides the service fee, he charged my bank $486 for the repair which I had to choice but to pay. After he left, I called Choice to clarify what happened and to ask for a refund of the difference between the basic model (Genie) and the one with the WiFi (which Fred never set up). Choice said they would not refund me because they auth'd what Fred said was needed with was the Logic Board. So Fred stole $486.00 from me because he had already been paid 165 but he never told me couldn't replace the whole unit because he was only paid to replace the Logic board. Instead he sold me a whole new system without my knowledge or approval. Many, many attempts to reach him and Winston Doors from me and from Choice have resulted in no response. I want him to come get his system out of my house and refund my $486.00. This same garage door opener sells for $259 on Amazon. Choice Hm Wty said once Fred comes to get system, they will get another company to fix my garage door. Fred also kept my old garage door opener which he probably fixed and forcibly sold to someone else. He needs to return my old system so that the Logic Board can be fixed for 165. When he sent his "diagnos" to Choice Wty, he told them I needed a new Logic Board, that's why Choice only paid Windston Doors 165. He never came to my house to "diagnose" what was wrong before the day he fixed it and forced me to pay $486 + the 87 service call fee.Initial Complaint

Winston doors was assigned to me by my home warranty Choice, they did the service diagnostics on 2/28/23 and i paid $75 plus tax for the visit to Winston Doors, i have been trying to obtain the report by leaving voicemail and sending emails but no luck, last phone they said they do not do that, i do have some screen shots from the technician where he diagnosed broken right spring for a Wayne Torque Master but i do need the report because the home warranty is denying the claim due to "failing bearing and that made torsion spring to break" but my system was not torsion but Torque Master and no bearings fail as per the technician, i need the report to be able to escalate the issue for incorrect denial reason.
