In June 2020, a visit from R&C Roofing and Contracting's representative to our home led to an offer for a free roof inspection. They reported hail damage and assured us that the replacement of our roof would incur no costs beyond our insurance deductible. The ***********************, previously unknown to us, contacted us to represent our claim against the insurance company for the new roof. We entered into an agreement (attached) with R&C Roofing and Contracting on June 30, 2020, which was subsequently submitted to our insurance provider by ***********************. The legal process, involving multiple meetings with the law firm, spanned over three years, culminating in the insurance claim settlement. This led to R&C Roofing and Contracting receiving a sum of $24,011.43. However, on November 29, 2023, R&C Roofing and Contracting unexpectedly informed us of an additional out-of-pocket expense of $5,788.57. This demand for additional payment was completely unforeseen, as we had not been previously notified of any such costs. Our efforts to obtain clarity from R&C Roofing and Contracting on this matter were met with vague responses, ultimately resulting in them offering us a contract termination option. This option, however, included a clause allowing them to retain 20% of the entire insurance settlement, amounting to $35,000. Adding to our concerns, *********************** of *********************** has explicitly stated their non-involvement in our contract with R&C Roofing and Contracting, which is owned by *********************************. This has led us to suspect potential business or personal conflicts of interest between *********************** and R&C Roofing and Contracting. Throughout this lengthy and complex process, we have increasingly felt misled and misrepresented by both entities. Our current aim is to free ourselves from this agreement without incurring any penalties, a course of action we believe is justified given the circumstances.Business Response

I fielded a complaint with the BBB (********) on 10/10/2022, and R&C agreed to fix the leak and during the leak repair one of the sky tubes R&C installed came lose. I called to schedule them to repair, but they came when I was not home and repaired from the roof without accessing the attic. The repair of the sky tube happened in March of this year. On October 31st of this year, I saw that the sky tube that they repaired came loose again. I sent them the attached photo and e-mail that evening to the e-mail address that I found had the latest correspondence ********************** and discussed the sky tube. A week later I forwarded the e-mail to another e-mail address *********************** because I did not receive a response. I was on vacation for the last two weeks and returned and have not received a response. I did not receive an e-mail failure notification for either e-mail or did not find a response in my junk mail.I am requesting that they schedule a time when I am home, so they can access the sky tube from the attic and fix properly.Business Response

Good afternoon,
On Monday December 17th, ************************* from R&C Roofing contacted me and told me that someone from R&C Roofing would meet me at my house on November 29th at 3:00pm. I took time off from work to meet the person at my home, but the person did not show up. I called R&C Roofing but **************** had left for the day and I was told she forgot to inform me that no one was meeting me that day.I was told, by R&C Roofing personnel, that someone would meet me at my house on Friday, December 1st at 12:30. I contacted **************** an hour before the scheduled appointment to confirm someone from R&C Roofing would meet me at my house. **************** confirmed the appointment, I took time again from my work but at 1:20 PM I was contacted by **************** and she told me that the person would not meet me.
Then she told someone would meet me at my house on Sunday December 3rd at 1:00 PM. At 1:20 PM I received a call from ***** from this number ***********, and he told me that he could not meet me that day either because the truck broke.
I cannot continue taking time from my work to go home and wait for R&C Roofing to fix the solar tube, only to have no one show. I am requesting they send someone after 5:00 pm this week. I am request they be respectful with my time.
This is a lack of professionalism and lack to respect for my time.
Thank you,

I am rejecting this response because:On Monday December 17th, ************************* from R&C Roofing contacted me and told me that someone from R&C Roofing would meet me at my house on November 29th at 3:00pm. This matter has not been resolved due to the lack of professionalism on R&C roofing. The statement about playing phone tag is false, if we have not met it is because R&C roofing has missed the three scheduled appointments.I cannot continue taking time from my work to go home and wait for R&C Roofing to fix the solar tube, only to have no one show. I am requesting they send someone after 5:00 pm next week. I am request they be respectful with my time.
Sincerely,

In March of 2022, a representative from R&C Roofing and Contracting knocked on our door and asked to inspect our roof free of charge. After the inspection we were notified that there were several issues that should be repaired. We were then contacted by ******* Law Firm, who we never heard of, and informed they would be representing us in a claim against our insurance company to cover the cost of the roof repairs. We signed a contract for services (attached) on March 30, 2022 which was sent to the insurance company by ******* Law Firm. R&C Roofing and Contracting received $21,115.20. On March 2, 2023, R&C Roofing and Contracting contacted us advising our out-of-pocket cost would be $8,934.88. At no point we were informed there would be an out-of-pocket cost, especially one this large. We are unsure why this cost was not included in the claim and is being charged to us. When we questioned R&C Roofing and Contracting they only advised this was the total cost and proceeded to send us an option to terminate the contract, which would allow them to keep 20% of the full amount. They were pressuring us into signing the contract termination agreement. They sent us a different signed contract (also attached) referring to section 3, "Buyers right to cancel", showing we agreed to pay 20% if we decided to cancel. This was not part of the claim documents. The contract sent to Security First Company shows there would be no penalty as there is no commencement date. Adam ******* from the Law Firm stated they have nothing to do with our contract between R&C Roofing and Contracting (owner is Alexander C******). We feel there may be a business or personal interest between ******* Law Firm and R&C Roofing and Contracting. In hindsight we feel we were misrepresented and misled by both companies. We would just like to terminate the agreement without penalty at this point. We are seniors living on a fixed income and can't afford the out-of-pocket cost.Customer Answer
