My husband and I were sold a "membership" with Ascendant Holidays on April 20, 2024, after arriving to pick up a gift that we "won" on the radio. We were told to expect a 90-minute presentation, and then we would be gifted a cruise or a week stay at ****************. After nearly 6 hours, we signed a contract for a vacation club. We were told it was $2,494 down and that we could cancel anytime. We were also told that this was not a timeshare program. It turns out they enrolled us in a timeshare program. They also limited us to 3 days to cancel the program. We were not provided with full access to our vacation club details until 30 days after they took finaldown payment, but before they took the final payment, my husband spoke with ************************* and requested a refund. This delay gave us no time to compare the information they promised with what the club could actually provide within the 3-day cancellation window. After doing a side by side comparison, there seems to be little reason to keep this vacation club as the discounts, low cost vacation options, and excusive deals to over "thousands of properties" they promised are nothing more than minimal discounts to a limited number of locations during a very limited number of dates. After reviewing the contract more closely with the actual services provided, it seems that we are paying an astronomical fee up front for little return on investment over time. We were sold a vacation club that could be used at our leisure and convenience with locations all over the world. We received a ****** complex timeshare system with a bunch of hidden fees and a complex point exchange system.We have not used any of the "gifts" we received at sign up. We would simply like to return all "gifts," reverse all charges, and cancel our membership.
