I bought a car from H. Greg Auto Orlando on Friday, April 28th. The very next day, the check engine light came on in my new car, not 12 hours after having it. I alerted the sales person that I would be bringing their car back on Sunday, April 30th by 6PM. (They have a 3 Day return policy) When I picked up my trade in at the designated time, it was backed in to a parking space. I didn’t think anything of it until I stopped for dinner with a friend on my way home. When I came out to the car after picking up our pizza, I was walking towards the car and immediately noticed that the antenna was broken off/missing. I immediately texted my sales person to let him know. I followed up first thing in the morning to let the Sales Manager know what had transpired while my car was in their possession. Not only did I waste six hours of my time getting a car from their lot that was not mechanically sound and make an extra trip out there to pick mine up, but my car comes back damaged! I just had an antenna and antenna booster installed in 2020 and it was close to $600 to do so. ( I have receipts which substantiate that) The Sales Manager refuses to cover the damage that happened to my car while on their lot. He said that I should have let them know immediately and “not 2 days later”. I did make their sales person aware the same night I got it back. I also emailed the manager first thing the following business day. I am on a fixed income and don’t think that I should be the one to pay the $635 it will take to fix it. I never anticipated that the dealership would not take responsibility for not securing my trade in while it was there. At a minimum, H. Greg should pay the amount it will cost me to fix it and/or their insurance company. If this is the way they do business then I would tell all potential car buyers to beware and steer clear of H. Greg. Definitely unscrupulous business practices if they don’t protect the buyer and the assets left with them.Business Response

I purchased an expensive car (Maserati) for my wife as a wedding present, after 3 months it started leaking coolant. I had it looked at by a certified mechanic, who identified a head gasket leak. Got a second opinion, it was confirmed and it appeared that sealant was put in the engine to 'plug' the leak. I was informed that this is usually a temporary fix and only lasts s few months but effectively hides the problem for a quick sale. I tried calling the dealership to see if we could resolve this but was never able talk to a person, I was always sent to a full voicemail box. I called their customer service line and when they tried to talk to the local dealership they were also always routed to a full voicemail box on one of over 10 different extensions. Dates of calls and extensions are all documented. Their own customer service center couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. Some time after my 25th call I finally spoke to a manager who stated 'it's over 30 days, you are on your own, lemon law doesn't cover their cars, good luck' and hung up. I feel like they sold a vehicle with a known issue that made it undrivable after a short period of time and attempted to conceal the issue just long enough so they didn't have to honor any warranty on it. The staff was impossible to get in touch with and when I finally spoke to someone they were extremely rude and had zero intention of working together to resolve this issue In order to make the car safely drivable the resulting repair was a full engine replacement ($22,000) because the mechanic (at the dealership) felt that there would be additional damage due to the unknown duration of the issue and previous service records. It was confirmed that something was added to the coolant that looked like a temporary sealant. I feel that this sale was deceptive and in bad faith and were extremely rude, absolutely unwilling to even discuss the matter and almost impossible to contact. .Business Response

In respond to this complaint the customer bought the vehicle in September 2022. Customer bought the vehicle AS-IS and signed a disclosure stating he or she had the right to get the car inspected prior to the sale by a 3rd party. In addition at the time of the sale customer had the option to purchase an extended warranty he or she wanted. Customer declined to purchase a warranty. Now over 3 month later customer has the expectation that the dealership should pay for the repairs for a vehicle he or she purchased a car AS-IS and declined to purchase an extended warranty. Apparently now the customer has buyers remorse for buying an exotic vehicle with expensive repairs and maintenance and chose not to buy an extended warrantyBusiness Response

At Hgreg we do not try to hide an existing problem on a car with a quick fix such as the customer is clamming. We encourage customers to get the car inspected prior to sale and customer signed a disclosure to this matter. Customer could have also purchased an extended warranty at the time of the sale. Customer was aware he was buying a car AS-IS. Unfortunately customer chose not to buy an extended warranty like we encourage all customers to avoid a situation like the one the customer is going thru

I am rejecting this response because this is an attempt to blame customers for the poor quality of your so called ."certified quality inspections".and deny any responsibility for selling a car that was unsafe and not in the condition you represented to be in. Again, I would like some compensation for the expenses incurred to bring the mechanics of the vehicle up the the condition you said it was in at the time of sale. I feel this sale was deceptive and in bad-faith on your part to unload something as quality when there was a serious pre-existing issue that manifested within 3 months of the purchase (December 17th to be exact). (I am sure you are aware that it takes time to diagnose the issue, get second and third opinions, schedule the repair job and ORDER A NEW ENGINE).
Let me keep it simple and start with the facts::
1) There was sealant in the coolant system
2) Someone put it there knowing that a leak was occurring
3) This was done BEFORE the car was soldNow lets address your response while considering this quote from your website, specifically **********************************************
"Before going up for sale, our vehicles go through a battery of tests. Our experienced mechanics verify each vehicle with a multi-point inspection. This inspection covers the car’s mechanics, structure and accessories, making it the car of your dreams.":1) This sealant was used to address a pre-existing condition otherwise it wouldn't have been in the car
2) You seem to claim that an inspection could have discovered this but at the same time you H Greg is claiming it was inspected by their experienced mechanics, this means that :
a) the issue was covered in a way that an inspection wouldn't have detected
b) your inspectors were inept and missed the issue or..
c) the issue was known and not disclosed at the time of saleFinally I would like a response to these points:
1) This car was NOT in the condition you indicated (being safe to drive) at the time of sale, please address my concerns on this
2) Do you or do you not stand by the quality of the products you sell
3) Why did it take over 25 phone calls to talk to a live person at the Orlando location when even your corporate call center couldn't get through
4) Do you have any intentions to work on a resolution or not ? Please respond to this with a simple yes or no so other potential customers can see your post-sale service commitment level.Sincerely,

Had an issue with a 2017 challenger in which HGreg known. Waited 2 weeks from purchase date for them to fix car. The date came to come in for repairs I did so and said it was fixed. They cleared check engine code and 3 days later same issue. Took it to dodge and was charged $778.23. Tommy at the Orlando location said it isn’t the same problem I came in for when indeed it was. I want the money I paid to get this problem fix.Business Response

My husband and I went Saturday 01/07/23 to look at a truck. The truck price was supposed to be approximately 37k. We brought in a high end trade and started to test drive a few cars. We have called hgreg and left messages since looking at the paperwork and can't get in touch with anyone. I had my mechanic check the vehicle out and he found undisclosed damage. Hgreg listed my truck as a 2019 rebel sport. After researching the vehicle we are told that in fact we have just a sport not a rebel and the truck came from Canada. They made us wait HOURS for very well qualified buyers and put in almost 9k of charges on top of the truck price for warranties we did not want nor need. My husband and I were in market for the rebel and that is what the truck was listed as. Now we have a 45k loan for a truck that is not the rebel, has damage they failed to disclose, and we can't get them to call us back. They had the truck listed at the rebel price which is approximately 5k higher then the sport. I'm baffled we can't get anyone to call us or a manager to contact is. At the very least we would like all those extra warranty fees taken off. That is 100% false advertising and to not get anyone to call back when we live over 2 hours from the dealership is ridiculous. This is ridiculous. On top of it we were pretty much forced to give a five star review prior to the process being the following charges were on the paperwork we were rushed through at finance: predilvery charge: $1299, file fee$699, alpha warranty: $4,178, anti-theft protection: $1199, hgreg protection plan: $795, alpha elevatecare bundle: $1499, and express gap: $1495. Those items are ridiculous and the finance guy kept rushing through options and didn't even give us any real information on these charges. We want at the very least our loan looked at and ALL of these unnecessary charges taken off. What should have been a 32k loan ended up to be over 45k. And told us we were buying the rebel when in fact it is not.Business Response

This is the second complaint from this customer. Customer was given ample time to read the documents prior to signing them. Customer was also given the option to get the car inspected by a 3rd party prior to purchase. Customer signed an affidavit stating car was AS-IS and had the right to get the car inspected prior to sale. Customer is having buyers remorse. Customer stated the vehicle was sold as a Rebel but all documents he or she signed state differently

I am rejecting this response because: I am not having buyers remorse. I simply want a fair price for what we purchased. We even offered for them to find us a rebel and switch is out if they were unable to credit our account for the difference in the cost of what we purchased verses what we were given. Again there is a difference between fair market value when the truck was a sport verses rebel. I attached the photo stating it was in fact sold to us it was a rebel. Businesses should be honest not decietful. And we still have not recieved the $8,400 in charges back to us. Very shady how we were told if we found something on our paperwork stating rebel then they would hep us but as soon as we did the representative failed to follow through on his part.

Customer had the opportunity to review all paperwork prior to signing them. In addition customer signed disclosure stating had the right to get car inspected by a 3rd party prior to purchasing the vehicle. Nobody forces customer to give a 5 star review. Customer is the one that submits the reviews. Customers are give a 3 day 300 mile return purchase from the day of purchase to return the vehicle. Customer signed he or she received a Car fax and auto check on the vehicle. We tell all customers that is all the information we have on the vehicles and they are more than welcomed to get the vehicle inspected prior to purchasing it.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
We did get the money back for the warranties. We like the truck and appreciate that they did give us almost 10k back from the warranties. We did not have time to look through the paperwork as they waited until almost closing time when we were told we were approved three hours prior to signing. We just feel they rushed us through the process and waited for last minute as we almost left due to them taking so long. At the end of the day I feel we paid at least 5k over as we paid according to a price for a rebel not a sport. I won't purchase another vehicle from hgreg for this reason. Given we are very well qualified buyers and will be looking to purchase more vehicles we will more than likely go to a dealer who is honest and upfront. The whole process was shady and to advertise for a top line rebel then sell us a vehicle that's only manufactured in Canada and provided a carfax for the United States not Canada which initself is suspicious at most. We don't have remorse for buying the truck it really needs to be documented that this company is doing this. Should we get some of the money back to be fair? More than likely as really the rebel price we paid for is 6-10k more than the sport is worth. The comparison they showed us was for the rebel not for a sport. Will we get anything back more than likely not so at least we can document this for other buyers to be careful when buying from hgreg. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,

Hgreg made my first car buying experience awful. I purchased a 2016 VW GTI from them in October 2022. I hadn't even made it home and the car started making a noise. It was late, so I figured I'd call the next day and report the issue. I called the next day and reported it well within the 3 day/300 mile warranty. After calling five times and finally getting through to someone, they told me they couldn't look at the car until three weeks later, which is not surprising now that I've read the reviews on this website.Three weeks pass and I bring the car to Hgreg. They report that the car has a bad axle which should've been caught on inspection. I told them I didn't want the car and I wanted to be done with it but they wouldn't do anything about it. They couldn't even provide me paperwork saying the axle was fixed. I was well within the warranty and I need to be compensated but Hgreg refused.I do not recommend this company to anyone! It may seem easy at first, but they are scam artists. I wasn't even shown the full Carfax report of the car I purchased. I believe Hgreg put me in danger by selling me a car with a bad axle.Business Response

I am literally trying to purchase a vehicle with this car dealership right now. Although I live out of state, I dont think it matters where I live to purchase a vehicle. Every time I call the company, I am left on hold for an out of state representative and no ever picks up the phone. I bought a car with this company and not even having the car for an hour, the car broke on my way home. The whole front of the car underneath fell off. I took the car to the closest mechanic who told me it was the splash guard that had fallen off and he took the remaining piece and advised that I go to ****** to have them order the specific part. I did that and found a plethora of problems with the car including a leak that the dealer advised was dangerous and would not allow me to drive the car costing over $2000 in immediate repairs. I called hgreg that same day and was told that I could not speak to customer service and that someone would call me in the morning. I never received a phone call and could not get through to the team the next day. Again called the following day and spoke to someone in sales who again promised me that someone from the customer service depArtment would call me the next day. Again, nobody called and I have been calling and unable to reach anyone. I still do not have the car as the repairs had to be made. The company also lied and said no major accidents, when the car actually had been as confirmed by ******. They have false claims on their website about the quality of their cars and the process that it goes through as far as inspection. Still have not been able to reach anyone from their department. ****** has given me a full report of the damages with the vehicle.Business Response

"Every vehicle is meticulously chosen to meet our quality standards and undergo a multi-point inspection We even provide a free CarFax history report, so you can drive in confidence." This is a quote directly from the website. Again, I did not have the car for even an hour when the whole front of the car came off. I had to bring the car in to the closest mechanic because I couldn't drive the vehicle. Unfortunately after two different inspections and opinions, they both deemed that the car was TOO DANGEROUS to drive and wouldn't allow it. The part of the car falling off at that point wasn't even the problem. They would not allow for the car to be driven back and both recommended that I call ********** as they should provide some sort of solution hearing the story. I called every day on multiple occasions including that same day and was not able to get a response back. On two occasions, I was connected to someone from sales and they both promised me that I would receive a call in the morning as they don't manage that. Never was able to reach anyone and of course nobody called back which was why I came here to hopefully have this addressed. What are you even inspecting in the "multi-point inspection"? Because it clearly isn't the car thats being inspected. Also I Was explicitly told that the vehicle had been in no accidents and that was the report that was printed for me which was clearly false. You are making false claims on your website and lying directly to consumers. If a car has been in an accident, it has to be disclosed. I;m not sure how you are even buying vehicles without even knowing that information.Business Response

I purchased a vehicle from the Hgreg Orlando location in May of 2022. I've been trying to contact management consistently and whomever I've spoken to say they can't be reached. I've called and emailed several times. This location sold me a vehicle that was in a previous accident prior and I was told that they did a full inspection and repair on the vehicle before it being listed to sell. Fast forward to present day the repairs were never fixed and I'm trying to hold them accountable for the accident my family was almost in due to their neglect. My wife finally spoke to someone directly in their repair shop and they admitted to not having any record of repair on this vehicle. I am trying to get them to take responsibility for their false representation during our sell and to reimburse me for the repair damages I know I have to pay for.Business Response

I bought a car on 9-11-2022. The first month it had tire pressure issues. The second month it stopped running car sensored issue. I towed the vehicle to a ******* dealership for repairs. Contract that was sold to me at HGREG for mechanical cost **** but they didn't cover anything. The diagnostic came back saying caR had no brake pads at all in front left n the front right were teared and rotors were bad n the back brakes were also bad. Cost I'm being charged is **** for the repairs. HGREG stated they were going to give me a trade in but because it's not drivable they can't. If they fix it its drivable. I just don't think it's right a car I had for 2mths had all those issues. It just means that inspection bypass the brakes and didn't do a proper inspection because when you buy a car there is no way in 2mths u going to have no brake pads at all. Brakes should last at least 6mths to a year. This is a 2020 ******* elantra with ***** miles on it so I know someone messed up. It's been a week and I was getting the run around. Voice-mail no one responded some voice-mail were just full. Today finally someone got back to me and it was a text that they couldn't do the trade in. I wouldn't receive anyone to purchase a car in this business they all about their money and not their customers. I pay 576 fir this car and now I have to pay **** for a preexisting condition that the vehicle had which isn't fair at all.Customer Answer

So I was without a car this whole time spending money on *********** to take my daughter to school n pick her up and get around which caused me alot. It took them two years to get back to this issue. It shows alot about the business. Also they give you alot of paperwork and they tell you this is what you signing and they kind of summarize it. Not one time did they say I can get it inspected by a third party. The principal here is that when customers come to purchase a car, they putting their trust in them. Even though the car is purchased as is I am positive that having messed up brakes an calibers is not one of them because that is a unsafe thing. I still say that this company did not inspect the car. That's why it took them so long to respond and they probably already covered their tracks. If you see their reviews all complaints are about brakes, which I saw later on. As business bureau of *************** you shouldn't allow this company to continue doing business until a full inspection is done to see if all cars are really being inspected for brakes. I almost got hurt driving the car when I was pregnant. I guess they won't get inspected until someone gets hurt in one of their uninspected cars. I will never purchase there I will never send anyone there and I already have given them the reviews on their website but now I will extend it to other reviews.Customer Answer

I will never purchase there I will never send anyone there and I already have given them the reviews on their website but now I will extend it to other reviews.Business Response

This business sold me an unsafe car. I bought a 2021 Kia ******** less then 3 months ago with ****** miles on it. The axle broke while I was driving on the interstate almost causing an accident. It was found by a Kia ********* technician that after market parts were put into the car and there had clearly been an accident that was not disclosed to me. There were bolts missing or bolts that had not been tightened properly that caused the axle to break! All of these things should have been disclosed to me. The Kia ********** that I took it to said they never would have sold the car they would have parted it out. They said that it was unsafe. I could have been severely injured or worse. HGreg when contacted refused to offer any sort of compensation or even acknowledge that they sold me a car that had been in several accidents. There's bondo in several areas on the car indicating body work that was never disclosed. This has cost me thousands of dollars so far and still has to get body work done. It's caused undue stress! When purchasing a car you put your trust in the dealer that you will be safe I was not! My life was put in danger due to negligence on the part of Hgeg!Business Response

The problem is the accident was NOT on the carfax that I signed! That is my ENTIRE complaint! There was an accident that was NOT disclosed and was NOT on the carfax I signed!! There is NO way that H **** should not be liable considering that there was an accident that was NOT on the carfax and yet sold me the vehicle anyway! There were after market parts on a 2021 vehicle! The problem I have is there is no way they didn't KNOWINGLY sell me a car without disclosing there was ANOTHER accident NOT on the carfax! This is my entire issue!Business Response
