I used the label provided to ship my phone, it was acknowledged as received. An extremely low offer was made that I did not accept, then I came to an agreement on an amount for the sale of the phone. After making 6 attempts by email to be compensated for my phone, I have not received my payment by the agreed upon method. Unfortunately they are choosing to ignored my emails that show up as read. Sadly I will have to make out a police report for my phone. I thought they were a good company.Business Response

I sent my phone off to gadget gone on March 31 after receiving a box in the mail which was a kit to send my and it had the tracking number to send it by dropping it off at any **** location I packaged up my phone, very nicely made sure there was paper andbubbles in there so that the phone would be safe. I took it to the ****************** office But they were closed that day and I did not want to put it in the mailbox so I set up a pick up request the post office worker that dropped off my mail would pick up my package to get to where it needs to be. The package was scanned and picked up And receive the package on March 31. They then sent me a message saying that I only sent one device which was true but that sent aniPhone SE or something like that. What I sent them was an unlocked iPhone 14 Pro Max that I have owned I bought this iPhone 14 Pro X ******* And for the last couple years it has been my iPhone until I sent it to gadget. I would never recommend using company like this not only are saying that I did not send them an iPhone 14 Pro Max they are offering me $11. I dont know anywhere in the world where youcan buy $11 iPhone 14 Pro Max this is not cool. I spent hard earned money on that iPhone and they offered me the quote ******************************************************************************** This is not right. I am going to the police and I am also going to the Better Business Bureau and as many times asI see this being done by this exact company This needs to be investigated just because you have an LLC does not mean you can do crooked business I have an LLC but all my customers are happy. I dont have any complaint of Better Business Bureau because I do not steal peoples iPhone 14 Pro Max. They have three children and have to providefor those three children. I recently lost my job and selling my phone was what was gonna get us our payment for my mortgage Now Im possibly gonna lose my house. What is wrong with people? I want my phone.Business Response

February 21, 2025 February 21, 2025 I want to share a troubling experience I had with this so-called reputable company. I chose to do business with them, thinking the trade-in option on Swappa would save me the hassle of dealing with a private seller. However, what followed was nothing short of a scam. Initially, I was assured my phone would be valued at $323, provided it was in good condition. I confirmed that my device met those criteria, but after sending it in, I was shocked to receive a ridiculously low offer of just $196, citing scratches and body damage. However, as evidenced in my attached photo and video, my phone only had one ***** ****, while the device they returned to me was in a completely different, damaged state.I genuinely believe this company was trying to pull a fast one on me. They essentially stole my original phone and replaced it with a compromised device. I have video proof of my phone's condition before I sent it off, and it's alarming to think they may have tampered with it. Despite my persistent requests to have my original phone returned, they kept offering excuses and eventually ceased communication altogether. I suspect they were stalling in an attempt to manipulate my phone's IMEI number, which is not just unethicalit's illegal. I am now taking the step to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Please, I urge you to think twice before engaging with this company. Protect yourself and learn from my unfortunate experience!Business Response

Hi ******,
I am very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction as that was not our intent. We always want our customers to feel heard and know that we take their feedback seriously. We mention on our website that our Good cosmetic condition is for devices with light signs of wear on the screen or body of the device that can be seen with the naked eye.
We mentioned in our email to you that unfortunately, due to a few scratches on the screen that could be felt with a fingernail, your order was graded into our Fair condition category. We specifically differentiate between Good and Fair condition categories on our website by noting whether the scratch can be felt with a fingernail when lightly brushed against the present scratch. We are always happy to provide photos of our findings and additional support to our customers regarding their orders as well as free fast returns for customers that are dissatisfied for any reason. I very sorry that we proceeded with your return without making additional efforts to ensure that you were more satisfied with your evaluation and transaction. Additionally, after you reported that you had the wrong device returned to you, we followed up to request the **** of the device that you received so that we could assist you further.
Your satisfaction is my top priority and I thank you for the opportunity to win back your business and provide a better experience for you. Please let me know what other questions or concerns we can help you with.Thank you,

This company is comprised of scammers, bullies, and thieves. If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, and Gadget is notorious for engaging in bait-and-switch tactics. The BBB's inaction allows this company to continue its misconduct with impunity. Initially, I thought my situation was an isolated incident, but upon further investigation, I've discovered a pattern of deceit aimed at intimidating customers. Its become clear that I'm not the first to be misled about the condition of my device, and I've learned that switching IMEIs is a common practice among you. The heavy scratches on devices are a consistent means to defraud customers of their rightful value. To make matters worse, it appears youre also accessing personal information from these devices, which is deeply concerning. This company deserves investigation, as I was able to uncover this information in just one night. What truly pushed me to take action was your attempt to intimidate me by addressing me using a name you have no right to use. This is not only disrespectful, but it also felt like a threat. Your attempts at bullying only fueled my determination. If you dedicated even half the energy you spend defrauding customers towards legitimate business practices, your potential would be limitless.I have contacted *****, filed a report, and obtained a reference number regarding this incident. I am including a video that shows the condition of my device the day it was shipped, along with evidence of the distinct defects that my device has in comparison to the one you returned to me. If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will be filing a small claims case in court. I am fully prepared to follow through, especially given your unprofessional behavior. Also I will be reaching out to the Florida Attoney General and Florida Agricultural and consumer services.Business Response

Hi *****,
I am very sorry to hear this feedback. While we do our best to provide help all customer reach a satisfactory resolution with their order, we understand that sometimes we do fall short and do not leave all customers happy with our service. However, we would never and have never participated in deceptive practices against our customers. We are always happy to provide photos of our evaluation results, **** network checks as they are run through Apple servers, and photos of the ****'s we receive. We received an email from you at the beginning of March stating you received the wrong phone back to you. We have contacted you multiple times but have not received a response through email to let us know what the **** of the phone is that you received.
Additionally, I apologize for the scare regarding your name. As you can see in our screenshots, your email settings on your personal email have a display name other than the name used to file this complaint. It was not our intent to scare you, but we do recommend checking out your email settings if you would like to change your display name in your email and again apologize for the confusion.
Please let us know how else we can help you, we would be happy to do so.
Thank you,

Hi Chase,
I am very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction as that was not our intent. We try to be very clear on our website and in our terms of service with what we can and cannot purchase from customers. I have attached a few screenshots of our conversation. To clarify, we opened a case with ****** because after purchasing your iPhone, we found that it was reported lost/stolen with ******* which blocks activation. ****** only sides with us on these cases if they find that a device cannot be activated by a future customer and remains reported lost/stolen after we notify the customer we purchased the phone from of this activation status. If you would like to contact ******* to remove this status, we would really appreciate your time investing in doing so.

I was originally quoted $128 from GadgetGone for my Galaxy A54 128 GB in flawless condition. This was higher than their competitors so I accepted the quote and shipped in my device on January 24. The device was delivered to GadgetGone on January 28. I had placed the phone in a box where there was no movement because it was the same shape and size as the phone. I also wrapped the box in a bunch of bubble wrap and placed in a bubble mailer, providing plenty of protection from drops. Nearly two weeks after on February 7, I receive an e-mail stating that the quote is much lower than anticipated because the phone is carrier locked and there are visible scratches. I immediately and adamantly refuted these claims because I was using the phone with a T-Mobile SIM although it was originally provisioned by *******. It also takes only a few seconds to go into the settings and check if the phone is unlocked or not. Furthermore, I do not understand how scratches got onto the phone as it has been in a phone case with a screen protector since day one. I wiped it down thoroughly before shipping the phone so it would have been obvious if there were "visible scratches". This is the really sketchy part. After I submitted my reply, it took four days to get a response. All I asked for was pictures of the damage and for them to check again by inserting a different SIM to show that it was unlocked. The agent now claims that the phone is "blacklisted" and changed my quote to -$10. He also did not attach any photos of the supposed damage on the phone. My guess here is that he realized he didn't have a case and just went to the nuclear option of claiming that my phone is a brick. This is absolutely ridiculous and I refuse to take back a phone that has purposely been tampered with to lower its value. Either GadgetGone honors their original offer or they replace my device in flawless condition. I also refuse to pay any shipping costs until they can submit proof of their claims.Business Response

Hi ******,
I am so sorry for the confusion and dissatisfaction. I am happy to help you further. As explained in our email to you, after restoring your device a few times and network resetting it to try and unlock it, we found that your device's IMEI is still locked to TracFone, even when trying to activate it with a T-Mobile SIM card. We checked the device's IMEI as well on the TracFone website and have found that the device is also not compatible with the ***************** We then checked the device again on the AT&T website to check the compatibility and the search was inconclusive. Because we cannot determine the activation status of this device, our system *************************** the device as blacklisted. This reading is not necessarily 100% accurate in its description, but was meant to convey that we cannot activate the device. This should have been explained to you initially and I am so sorry for the confusion and upset that our most recent email caused you.
We would be happy to return your device to you free of charge since we cannot determine the activation status of your device.
Again, I am so sorry for the confusion that our evaluation caused and I'd be happy to address any additional questions or concerns you may have about your order.Initial Complaint

This is regarding the trade-in or sale of my 2019 MacBook Pro (15-inch, 32 GB memory, 512 GB storage). I was initially quoted $516 for my laptop with a $35 coupon (GG35) on December 27, 2024. I shipped the laptop to GadgetGone on December 28, and they received it on January 2, 2025. When I shipped my laptop, the battery health percentage was 84-85%.On January 14, I received communication from them (12 days after they received the laptop) stating that my laptop has a faulty battery. However, the battery in my laptop was replaced at an Apple Store (under AppleCare+) with a brand-new OEM battery just a couple of years ago, and I do not agree with their claim of a "faulty battery." According to their website, a machine is considered faulty only if the battery health is below 80%, which is not the case with my laptop. When I shipped my laptop, the battery health percentage was 84-85%.They are now offering me $63 (or $69), but the email is unclear and frustratingly mentions both amounts. I dont understand why they are giving two different figures. Are they kidding? They are dropping from $516 to $63 (or $69). They didn't give me any report on their inspection findings. They have wasted my time, and now when I check, I see that trade-in values have dropped on other websites. This tactic is unacceptable and not a fair business practice.Business Response

Hi *******,
As communicated through email, I am very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction as that was not our intent.
As seen in the photo Jessa provided and that I have attached here, we use BlackBelt 360 to test all devices that arrive to our office. While we understand that software can provide various results, BlackBelt 360 and PhoneCheck are softwares that are widely used in the buyback industry and they provide reliable results. We evaluate hundreds of computers every month and are confident that the diagnostic results are accurate. I understand the frustration and confusion since your software provides a different results, but I want to assure you that we have no intention of providing anything less than accurate and honest results.
We have been attempting to replicate your testing results and have been attempting to confirm the app that you are using to monitor your device's battery health. I understand you are using the Mac System Report, which we also use, and the "battery monitor app". The Mac System report does not give a battery health percentage and instead gives a system count. BlackBelt 360 can only detect cycle count on M1 and M2 devices. We would be happy to try the "battery monitor app" on another device in office to test its accuracy, but again our software is industry standard and is trusted across the industry for providing accurate results.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions, I am looking forward to your response!Customer Answer

Complaint: 22812785I am rejecting this response because of these reasons:
Heres a polished version of your points, with grammar and sentence structure improved:
1. They are using some third-party software that claims my battery health is at 72%. However, I showed them *****'s built-in System Report, which indicates a battery health of 83%. Despite this, theyre refusing to honor the *****-provided information. I then took my MacBook Pro to the Apple Store, where they tested it using their diagnostic tool, and it showed 82%. Yet, they're still telling me that their third-party software is more reliable? How audacious!
2. I strongly suspect that the real reason they denied my trade-in is that they didnt want to honor the quote their website provided. For my MacBook Pro, I was given a quote of $516 (including a $35 coupon). Just a few days after I traded in my machine, they reduced the quote on their website to $420 (again, including the $35 coupon). It seems clear to me that theyre not honoring the trade-in due to this reduction in the amount they would have to give. This feels like a very deceptive practice.
3. The entire trade-in process is extremely slow. From slow shipping and lengthy evaluation times for the machine to slow return shipping, the whole process is inconvenient and frustrating. Its such a hassle to deal with all of this.
Sincerely,
******* *******Business Response

Hi ******
I am very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. According to your order details, you described that you would be sending us a device in flawless and brand new condition. According to our evaluation email and the photos you provided, we found your devices to show significant signs of wear in addition to being financed.
We attempted to contact you through email and text numerous times with our evaluation results. It is stated in our terms of service that if we do not receive a response regarding the evaluation results in a timely manner, that we will process and send payment for any order in an effort to not delay payment. After processing your payment on December 31st, we did not hear back from you until January 9th requesting to have your devices returned to you. Unfortunately, by that time your devices had already been processed into inventory as explained to you through email.
