I was sold a 2010 VW Passat from Florida car collection and was told it was a clean solid car. This is a lie. The car has so many issues mechanical and cosmetic that it's not worth fixing. The ** dealership here in ******** SC ran checks on it and even they can't figure out how to fix it. I paid $6995 for this piece of junk, paid $1400 to mechanic at dealership to fix it and it still won't run. Car won't start, mechanic said there's so many things wrong with it it's not worth fixing. I was told this car was good. Also must have been photo shopped as pics on **** don't match up to reality. Totally sun damaged. Now I have to have it towed back to my house and can do nothing with it. Someone has to stop these people. There are others out there in the same position as me that dealt with this scam company.Customer Answer

Dear ******* Deerfield,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns regarding your purchase of the 2010 ********** Passat from Florida Car Collection. We take all customer feedback seriously and strive to ensure transparency in every transaction.
We would like to clarify that the vehicle was sold as-is, which was clearly stated in the purchase agreement. Additionally, the option to purchase an extended warranty was available at the time of sale, which could have provided additional protection for unforeseen mechanical issues. Given the amount of time that has passed since your purchase, it is difficult for us to determine what factors may have contributed to the issues you are experiencing.
Regarding the vehicles condition at the time of sale, we take care to provide accurate descriptions and photos of our inventory. While normal wear and tear may be expected in a pre-owned vehicle, we never intend to misrepresent the condition of any car. If there were specific concerns at the time of delivery, we encourage customers to address them immediately so we can assist accordingly.
We understand how frustrating vehicle repairs can be, and we regret that you are experiencing these challenges. While we are unable to offer compensation or refunds for an as-is sale, we encourage you to continue working with a qualified mechanic who may be able to provide solutions.
If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to contact us directly at ************.Sincerely,
***

I am rejecting this response because:Though I appreciate the response from Florida Car Collections, I do need to correct some inaccurate and erroneous information.
I do realize the car was sold "as is" which is why I did my due diligence and asked all the appropriate questions, but unfortunately not all the answers were true. (Please see the text thread enclosed in additional documents section.)
I was not offered an extended warranty. The bill of sale stated if the boxes were left unchecked by the seller, there is no warranty. Neither was I offered an extended warranty in the text exchange.
The amount of time that has passed since the sale is due to the seller's refusal to answer multiple texts and phone calls from the day I received the vehicle in an unacceptable condition and immediately reached out.
The car I purchased on 12/23 did not show up until 01/02. Given the holidays being in that time frame, I tried to be patient but I do believe 10 days from the date of purchase was a little excessive.
The photos on the website showed a vehicle so shiny you could see the reflection of the clouds in the sky off the hood. What I received was a vehicle with massive oxidation on the finish of the hood, roof, and trunk - clearly not what was advertised on the site. If it has been shown " as is" instead of photo shopped I would not have purchased it. I asked on 12/22 before purchasing the vehicle about an accident that was reported, and if the damage has been fixed and if anything else was was wrong with it. I was informed that the accident was five years ago and that all damage was fixed and was assured that nothing else was wrong and that it was a " clean and solid car." In actuality I found out after purchase that it had been in multiple accidents which was never disclosed to me. Again, if this information has been disclosed to me I would have never made the purchase.
On 12/30, while still awaiting shipping, I asked if the oil has been changed and was advised "fresh oil and new battery." Again this information was untrue as the oil was dirty and not changed the the battery was dead the morning after I received the delivery. I had to spend $200 on a new battery and the store who received the battery informed me it was an old battery and "no good." This made me wonder why it was dropped off after dark instead of at 2 in the afternoon as promised, and off-loaded down the street from me and driven up and dumped. (Did the driver have to jump the battery?)
On 01/02 I received the vehicle and on both 01/02 and 01/03 I immediately texted my disappointment and concern about the condition the vehicle was received in and the misrepresentation of it on the website. I received no answers to the texts or phone calls to the business. On 02/09 I contacted by text again since my past communication was never acknowledged, and advised that I had received no response to my outreach and was considering contacting an attorney. At this time I reached out to the BBB as well and opened a case.
On 02/11 after asking for a refund and having to go to a dealer to try and get the vehicle I purchased on 12/23 running to no avail, I finally received a response from *** stating they would try to help and asked for information about what we had attempted to do so far. During this text exchange I was told " Well...we just got a message from the BBB that you filed a complaint so maybe they can help you. Best of luck!" That was the last communication I received even though I contacted *** and stated I would drop the complaint if they would help us come to a reasonable resolution. I contacted them by text on 02/12, 02/13, and 02/14 and my outreach was again ignored.
Though your assurance is that you check every vehicle, there is no way this vehicle was checked and all these issues were no discovered. The car was dumped one me with all these issues undisclosed to me and it has not run except one time since. In fact I had to pay $200 to get it towed back to the dealership to try to get it fixed. They stated it was not worth fixing and would cost more that what it was worth. You checked it? Really?
Not only was I taken for almost $7000 for a vehicle that hasn't worked since I took delivery of it, I have also had to pay an additional $2800 on a vehicle I have yet to be able to drive 4 months later. Now I am told it will need a new transmission! You checked it? I don't think so!
After contacting ****, I was informed there were several other complaints against this company, and now see 14 complaints and an F rating on the BBB site! Clearly it's not just me! I trusted that what I was being told was truth and that *** and this company were operating with integrity - my mistake.
I am asking for a complete refund and return of this worthless vehicle, or at the very LEAST, compensation for the additional money I have had to spend due to the misrepresentation and nondisclosure of the issues with this vehicle to negate further legal action.I have copies of photos of the car on **** and of what I received and text messages if you need them. Can I email the photos?

I purchased a 2015 ****** Pathfinder from the business 7/20/24 and was told by their carfax the vehicle was mechanically sound however here we are 9/16/24 ****** dealer tells me it needs a transmission called the dealer sent estimates now they will not answer my calls and looks as if im going to end up putting $9000.00 an a $4000.00 car .i don't want anyone else to go through this.Business Response

We're sorry to hear that you have an issue with the Pathfinder however it was driving perfectly when we delivered it to you and have heard no complaints for two months. Something can go wrong at any time with a 10-year-old use vehicle. It sounds like the Nissan dealership is trying to take advantage of you. You can get a good used transmission installed for $3,000. That would be your best bet. The vehicle was sold as is so there won't be any compensation. But next time you should look into getting an extended warranty. Thank you.Initial Complaint

On August 7th I bought a car via the internet from Florida Car Collection, located at ****************************************************************************. **************. The car was a 2012 ***** C70 convertible with ****** miles on in. There were many photos of the car online, even showing the top off. I asked for a video of the car but was told that they were too busy to do so, that the car was in great condition. I even have a text from the salesman that the top (hard top convertible) was in working order. Before I go further, I have purchased many cars via the internet over the years, and I am well-aware of what as is means. The car arrived via carrier on August 17th. The exterior, other than sun faded mirrors, appeared to be in good shape. When I got in the car, however, the interior was falling apart and the upholstery on the top (roof) was hanging down, it was badly bent, stained, and torn.First we took the car to a repair shop. It needed a host of mechanical things, totaling over $2000. The tires were dry rotted, so another $800 for tires. Then we went to a specialist to look into the convertible top, which would not open at all. The technicians said that there was no way possible that the top had been operational. The entire frame was bent, torn, and twisted. Someone apparently tried to tie the framing together and made it worse. The price for fixing the top? Over $7,000. That does not include the motor that lifts the top. Several of the needed parts are on backorder with no date for fulfillment. The interior of the car is falling apart, with several pieces of molding loose or broken. In a nutshell, a var purchased for $11,000 needs at least that much to make it functional. After leaving several texts and phone messages at the dealership, I received a text on August 5th from the salesman stating that they had been very busy, and one of his managers would contact me. That has not happened yet. Surely there are some consumer protections out there, this was a scam of a sale and we were severely mislead. Please let me know what our opportunities for recourse are. I have kept records of all communication with Florida Car Collection; emails and texts. I have documentation on all repairs and quotes.Business Response

We disagree with this customers complaint. First of all, there were no photos of the vehicle with the top off as he says, so that's the first lie. The list of things that the customer states were needed by the mechanic shop were items that are considered wear and tear such as tires, oil change, wiper blades, etc. This is to be expected on a vehicle that is 13 years old. We delivered the ***** with an excellent running engine, transmission, cold air conditioning, and it was in beautiful condition inside and out. We even put new brakes on it. We were in constant communication with the customer until he started threatening to *** and left untrue negative reviews all over the internet.Initial Complaint

As with any purchase of a 13 year old truck with some miles there will could likely be some wear and/or maintenance items
that could be addressed at a certain point. We do work big to small making sure all major systems are what they should be
and go from there. It sounds like your shop is suggesting some minor items that could need attention. We are certain you will enjoy the

I am rejecting this response because: Minor imperfections are acceptable. However, a major safety system, in this case, the *** control module was inoperative and not disclosed. Therefore, they should make it right by refunding the cost of repairs or making some effort to compensate. Originally, they offered to send a new module to me but I already had it being repaired because the vehicle was not safely road worthy without. I can see you have no desire to make this right hence the other complaints and resultant BBB rating.See previously uploaded receipt for repairs required.

That's right and thank you for mentioned it, we did offer to send you a new module which at our cost is $200, we sent an email offering you help, but we never got any response. After a week, you sent us an email with a bill for more than a $1K, the module itself was $700 in you bill, which tells you a lot of the place where you repaired the *** light, so just to make it clear we did try to help and make things right, have a great day!Customer Answer

I purchased a car from this dealership on **** on 4/27/2023. This dealership is a complete scam, listed the car as in excellent condition without any issues. I paid the money on 5/1/2023 and the car was received today, 5/11/2023. The car is completely broken. It is a flood car with multiple issues. Engine, ECU, ABS, DTS, etc. nothing works. There are multiple flood/water marks inside and outside the vehicle. Both headlights are flood damaged with watermarks. The engine bay is cooked with smoke, missing / not enough engine oil, missing / not enough trans fluid, and missing / not enough coolant. ******************************************* *************************************Initial Complaint

I purchased a vehicle from them. Discussed with **** the condition of vehicle inside and out in which he said it was well maintained and no damages. Upon delivery of the vehicle, 4/24/23, I got inside and the headliner has stained all over it, the pillars are all damaged as well as the moon roof shade. Also, the dashboard has huge cracks in it. (Pictures they had online showed none of this). I contacted them on 4/24/23 as soon as it was delivered around 12pm but they did not answer so I left a message. After no hearing from them, I called back around 4pm and spoke with ***. She stated that maybe because there was really bad rainfall it could of happened then. (Pictures online did not show any of this.) She then said to send her pictures of the damage I was referring to and she would speak with ****. After I sent pictures, I called to confirm she received them in which she did not answer so I texted and she was very angry I did that. Told me that she would get back to me. Didn't hear anything on 4/25/23 so I texted and her response was I would hear from her by the end of day but I did not. So I sent a text stating if I didn't hear from her by 4/26/26 I would be seeking other avenues.Business Response

We did communicate with customer on 4/26/23 evening, maybe he has bad memory because was just last night. He bought from us a **** **** 20 years old vehicle. Our main concern on every car, specially the oldest ones are mechanically, which this vehicle has none, only some cosmetic issues that he is complaining about, they are visible in the pictures we posted online, he said he didn't see them, so we resent those pictures to him to make it clear that we didn't hide anything.
He asked for money back in order to fix the liner stains, we told him that we already gave him a big discount of $1400, when he asked for a discount, we did approve it, and the most he will spend to fix the liner will be $450.
No complaints about mechanic issues at all, just cosmetics, some customers accept the fact that when you buy a used car, specially one that is 20 years old, you will need to do some little upgrades in order to have a great car, some stains on the liner or cracks on the dashboard will not affect the safety on the vehicle, you can handle to change the liner and you will have a great car, this vehicle is in great shape mechanically spoken, so please just do a little effort on the cosmetics and you will have a good car to drive and enjoy.

I am rejecting this response because:Once again, you did not disclose the additional damage to the headliner in which I sent you photos of. When I first addressed this with you, you stated it could of been caused by heavy rainfall you were having and would get back to me after you spoke with ********* You did not give me a huge discount either. You sold less than $500 asking price in March 2023.
Now only after driving the car for less than 100 miles, the check engine light is on due to Increased emissions. My guess is that this was on the prior to leaving your lot and you cleared the code. The BBB needs to seriously look heavily into your company because all complaints state that you misrepresent the vehicles you sell!! Why don't you try making an honest living and stop ripping off customers of their hard earned money.

Purchased a 2012 mini ****** last week. The company had photos and information that stated the car was in excellent condition. Photos showed no paint defects or any lights on the dash. Since I'm in ****** City I confirmed via email that the car was in excellent condition mechanically and the photos showed the exterior and interior being flawless. They mentioned the engine light came on when putting gas in it. The car had no gas, first lie. However the would repair the car and then send it. Upon arrival. The car was not fixed! The engine light was on. The tires lights were on. The battery was bad. Multiple bulbs are not working. The window is broken. The estimate to repair has not been completed but has been confirmed it has something major wrong with it that needs a specialist to fix. The company said it does not have warranty which I understand. But they said it had no mechanical problems beside the one they fixed. The photos were incorrect also. Appears the car has to have been sitting for months! The photos were old and outdated. I'm a 100% disabled veteran that just got ripped off. Ridiculous!Business Response

****************, during the whole process you were in contact with our salesman, back and forth. He did tell you about the engine light that came on the dashboard when he was putting gas before delivery, and he advised it to you. You were ok on still getting the vehicle, but it needed to be fixed. We took the car to our mechanic and found out that it needed a new fuel pump which we replaced, after the fact that we replaced it, the engine light went off. In order to replace the fuel pump we must take the gas out, we never lied about it, and we never lied about the car. Our advertising does not use descriptive words such as excellent condition. You are making that part up.
About the paint and the interior, this car looks great! It might have some imperfections around but it is a 10 year old used vehicle. When we got the car ready for shipping, it had no dashboard lights at all, battery was in good shape, vehicle turned on every time with no problems. You didn't need to replace the battery, I guess the mechanic where you took the car for inspection sold it to you to make some bucks. Windows were working perfectly, but i guess since you replaced the battery, car needs to be reset, thats what happen with these Europeans cars if battery get replaced. The vehicle has not any other problems than the one we mentioned, and fixed, if you take it to a mechanic they will of course going to tell you the opposite, thats their business, and thats how they will make money. Car runs good, ac works, radio works, your window will work after the new battery / reset the car. Even when it was picked up for delivery the inspection passed and car had no lights on,no tires light on.
Here is the email we sent you about the vehicle, and you were ok with it, we never lied, no false advertising.
"Hello ****. We drove the car to fill up some gas to get it ready for shipping and the check engine light came on and the car was sputtering a little.
Our mechanic informed us that the fuel pump is on the way out and should be replaced. We already ordered one for another mini S we have on our lot.
We can use it to replace yours. It should arrive here Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Hope this is ok."
Hope this clears up the situation, we are a dealer that cares and we always strive to tell the truth to our customers. We have receipts for the repairs done to the vehicle. And by the way, the customer is driving the car all over town with no issues other than check engine light which he still has not taken to a real mechanic for a diagnostic. We are standing by ready to help.FCC

I am rejecting this response because:The car had photos, text, and a video of the condition of the exterior and interior of the car. The car had to have sat for months with no attention. If you could please provide photos of what you had of the condition of the car because what I have from the website is well off from what was uploaded. The video I do not have but you had one on the website. I cannot see any paint peeling on the trunk or the bumper and trunk both fading badly like it had damage and the paint job was very cheap. Also a dent on the front hood was not there.
Lies! Wow. No lies. The car came with an engine light and had multiple codes. I was told its repaired. Nobody would guess you repaired it but the engine problems were still showing up. I took it to a repair shop, proof attached and they made no money from the battery sale! I took it to autozone to save my money! It was bad confirmed by two shops.
Door works. Engine runs but the interior makes a loud noise about every 20 minutes. Very tough to time the recording when I drive but I could share a video if you would like.
Very dissatisfied but I understand some companies do not care about customer service.
the exterior of the car took a long time to clean!!! Dry water spots took more time then you would think and special cleaner to get off the rims and black parts.
More then welcome to show proof the car had no issues that they had when they arrived. Shows the paint issues you posted.

The invoice you sent for $200 is for a battery which the car didn't need, if you replaced it the car will need to be reset (European cars) thats why you are having some lights on.
I hope this helps, and I know this car is in good shape, ********** for our customers and service, here is my respond and i hope you enjoy your car.

I am rejecting this response because:
The car had and has problems with repair estimates uploaded and proof of the repair done. The blend door motor could also be the reason for the noise around every 20 min of driving. This is just one other problem the car had on arrival. Bulbs, battery, maintaince cost, paint chipping that was not accurate from the photo and video. Still have issues but please leave my review for the company as a F!BBB. Please leave a negative review and close my case for false advertising. Appears some companies just post 6 month old photos and lie about the condition of cars to individuals buying online.
thanks BBB.
Sincerely,

Buyer beware. I recently purchased a VW GTI vehicle from Florida Car Collection in *************, Florida. While there with my two young children, the vehicle I purchased pulled up, the salesperson got out and said he had returned from their mechanic stating it was ready and that the vehicle was running well. Upon leaving their lot, I entered the highway a very short distance away and as the vehicle picked up speed, the vehicle transmission disengaged leaving me stranded on the highway with two children in the car, the car would not move. I called immediately to inform them and was stunned at their complete indifference to what had happened, they said and offered to do nothing. When further attempts were made to either return my call or assist with any part of the repair, I was told they were busy with customers. Was I not a customer too, I paid them $11500 dollars and have a huge VW repair estimate for over $4000. They knowingly sold me a non drivable, unsafe vehicle, that didn't even last 10 minutes. The owners are evasive, very rude and when finally confronted about the enormity of the repair, refused any acceptable means of resolution. This vehicle was purchased as my sons first car, I mentioned to them how important it was for me. They had agreed. This is shocking and completely unacceptable.Business Response

Let me set the record straight. *** showed up by himself at the dealership to check out the ********** GTI we had for sale. He mentioned that he had owned several ********** GTIs in the past and was an expert on them. He took the vehicle for a test drive and said he would come back the next day to purchase. He came back the next day with his teenage boy and his girlfriend. They test drove the car again taking turns. When they came back they made an offer that was over $3000 less than the market value and $2000 below the asking price.. We agreed to sell him the vehicle as is and he acceoted. A couple of days later he called and said he was experiencing some issues with the vehicle. He said he had a friend that was a mechanic he was going to take it to. We said no problem let us know what it is and maybe we can help. Then he sends us an estimate for over $8000 from a ********** dealership asking how much we want to pay. We disagreed on the estimate so he got another estimate of $3700. It sounds like the clutch burned out either from being driven hard or from wear and tear on a 10 year old vehicle with over ******* miles. We offered to help him with the cost of the parts which is around $600 just to be nice Which he refused. *** then demanded almost $4k or said he was going to leave negative reviews. Looking into Dans past it seems he has pulled this type of thing before with other car dealers. Its very dangerously close to extortion in my opinion. At this point there is nothing we can do for it then. He purchased the vehicle as it is, got a huge discount and then when something breaks demands for us to pay for it at the ********** dealership or hes coming after us. Thats not how we do business. He test drove the vehicle twice himself in person and everything was wonderful. We cannot predict the future and sometimes used cars need repairs which is why everything is sold as is with inspections welcomed. We tried to help but could not satisfy this customer no matter what.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: The information being provided by the Seller is completely inaccurate and mostly fabricated. The Seller was not physically present at the time the vehicle was test driven, he was only present at time of purchase. I was the only one who test drove the vehicle, no one else did, no one took turns. We called back after having experienced a transmission failure in highway traffic less than 20 minutes after leaving the dealership, not days later as stated (phone records to prove and time stamped). ****** claims I made an offer of $3000 less than his asking price. Shame on you to openly lie to the public like this. THIS IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. Vehicle was listed for $11,995 on ***** I purchased the vehicle for $11,500 and have my purchase contract. I have kept photos of their online **** listing priced at $11995 proving once again I am being lied to. I asked nicely for a $500 discount, they agreed and I paid cash (is this the huge discount that the Seller is referring to?). I have now spent $4000 at the dealer on new clutch packs for which I have receipts only to have the dealer discover while installing them that the transmission is broken internally. I was sold a vehicle with a broken transmission, not one in need of service or even repair. The vehicle is currently at ******* ********** and has been since I've purchased it. It is absolutely non drivable and needs a replacement transmission at a cost of $5600 which as of this writing is now required for this vehicle to be functional. The transmission in the vehicle was damaged prior to my purchasing it. It has been fully inspected by ******* ********** that has corroborated this and is willing to assist me in attempting to find resolution. After several days of trying I reached the seller to explain that the only resolution I was seeking was half the $4000 cost of the clutch replacement which I have now paid and still, the vehicle transmission is broken internally. I never demanded anything at all from the seller nor did ever mention anything about leaving a bad review. The Seller claims he offered with the cost of the parts? This is a another bold faced lie, the Seller simply said to me he was not willing to help in any way shape or form. I speak the truth with receipts and everything very carefully documented. Calling me an extortionist only makes the Seller look worse. 2012 VW GTI $11,500, clutch packs $4000, transmission $5600. This was my sons first car, I wanted to surprise him because he loved my old GTI. This is how nasty you get treated. They never tried or offered to help. This is simply not true.
Sincerely,

Again ******************** is simply lying about everything. He knows very well that the ***** was an out the door price that included state fees of sales tax, title, registration. The actual sale price of the car was a massive reduction from the listed price. This is in attached sale contract. Also in page 2 of the sale contract he signed is the statement:
Vehicle Inspection: You are purchasing the vehicle based upon your personal inspection, and are not relying on any opinion, statement, promise or representation of the salesperson, or any other of our employees, that is not contained in the written agreements you are signing today.
******************** claimed to be an expert in regards to these vehicles claiming to have owned and worked on many. He thoroughly inspected, and drove the car extensively and claimed everything was in fine condition. He even brought
his own mechanic code reader and scan tool. All this was captured on our company security surveillance system. He throws out statements like shame on, rude, unresponsive, all in a poor attempt to make him seem like some sort of victim.
In fact pretty much everything ******************** is lying about can be easily contradicted by surveillance footage including us willfully
not ignoring him, taking his call, offering assistance, etc. This matter has been forwarded to this company's legal representation
for potential legal action against ******************** for slander, lible, and defamation both in his statements to this agency
and in another public forum. Again, all of Mr. ********* slanderous, libelous, and defamatory lies are contradicted by
security surveillance footage in which he can be heard and seen leaving post-sale with a big smile on his
face saying he is completely satisfied with his purchase. Also his so called "children" are grown adults
in thier late teens or tweties. He told us this and the footage shows this. He believes lying
about the car having potential issues with his "children" with him makes him seem like more of a victim.
