I can't help but feel scammed by this company. I was told by my "loan consultant" that they had relationships and are able to leverage them with lenders for better rates. This is absolutely false. I essentially filled out my own application with my own bank and your company gets a 10% fee for this? I agreed to your terms under completely false pretenses and I am asking for some of this fee, if not all be refunded to me. The fact that you pull all lenders so I can't get a loan outside of you for 90 days is totally odd. If they offer different rates from what you presented me, why would I do that? Your loan consultant was sure to call me daily to see if I was approved for my loan. After I was, you all took your money before the day that was even agreed upon and I haven't heard from her since. Something about this feels off. What was the service you provided to me? I applied for a personal loan at my own bank and was granted one. Why did I owe you $3800? Giving you the opportunity to fix this.

The business claims to have relationships with many loan companies and can therefore submit and facilitate loan applications. For a 10% commission, they only gave me a referral! No other value or service was provided. In addition, they harassed me daily to ensure they would receive their commission. Again, without providing any services.

I originally inquired with a personal lender back on July 2nd 2024 at the time I decided to not move forward with the lender as I wanted to see what other options I may have had. A week or so later I was contacted by nationwide loan consultants and advised by them that they could negotiate for loans on my behalf and obtain lower rates than I could all that I needed to do was sign their contract to give them the ability to check my credit and apply on my behalf. I went ahead and signed. Nationwide loan consultants came back with the exact same loan that I had inquired about on July 2nd (this was July 15th) and was now saying that I would owe them a 10% consultation fee for finding the loan. I advised them that I would need time to think about it and ended the call. I decided that I would not move forward with nation at this time as they had obtained the exact loan that I had originally gotten back on July 2nd only with an additional 10% being taken out of it. I decided to move forward with the lender on my own I DID NOT GIVE NATIONWIDE LOAN CONSULTANTS ANY INDICATION OR AUTHORIZATION THAT I WANTED TO USE THEM. I received the funds from the lender no problem but the following day I was contacted by nationwide loan consultants and advised I was responsible for their 10% consultation fee even though I did not give them permission or any indication I wanted to use them. They have since threatened legal action and an additional 5% late fee if I do not pay them. I do not believe I am responsible for this fee due to 1) I never gave nationwide loan consultants any authorization to move forward 2) this was the exact loan that I had inquired about prior to speaking to them 3) their contract indicates they actually cannot negotiate with lenders and I was specifically told they could. I feel that this company is being predatorary and very specifically obfuscating information from customers so that they can collect fees that shouldn't be owed.

I am rejecting this response because:

I still maintain my position on this matter. I have spoken to several representatives at Best Egg and each one has confirmed that I did infact have an application started with them on 7.2.2024 which is 10 days prior to me speaking with Nationwide Loan Consultants, which by their own contract, omits me from their claims. I have since forwarded this information to my attorney for their records and review. I also would like to point out that Nationwide Loan Consultants did not make their fees apparent until AFTER they said they located a loan and they were essentially in the process of trying force me to sign and accept terms with them. You can tell, probably on their recorded lines, how hard they try to push their "customers" to accept their offer as soon as they find one as I had a difficult time getting them to understand that I didn't want to accept anything while I was speaking to them. I still maintain that this is a deceitful company that is purposely obfuscating their intent and preying on individuals by making claims that they can negotiate with loan providers, when their contract says they can't/won't. That their services essentially amount to googling "personal loans" and then offering those results to their customers while taking a "consultation fee" while they tell you lies about what they can actually do to help you out of a bad financial situation is really appalling as I'm sure a lot of people looking for financial relief are all desperate for some kind of help as I was and to be mislead by a company like this is just another slap in the face to an already bad situation.

****** from Nationwide called me about a loan I only requested $20,000 he then called and stated he could get me approve for more which is $******. I asked him if there was any fees involved he said their consultant fee of 2493 and never mention origination fee of 3000 plus from upstart. On the loan had some breakdowns and I saw the ****** I asked him if I was going to be paying that amount he told me no and immediately sent his paperwork with the amount of ****** minus their fees to distract me from the truth. ****** made me felt he was my to go person in my entire loan application but Finewise which is the bank and upstart loan was also involved. On the same day later I called him to cancel the loan but I guess he had no control and upstart loan advised me that they don't know who Nationwide is and not affiliated with them, regardless ****** said he worked closely with them. ****** also went ahead a created a gmail account without my consent so he could be in control over the loan application upstart said the application should be done by the borrower and he should not be taking my information over the phone. I filed a complaint with ***** the General manager and he listened to the recordings, apologized and refunded my 2493. He also stated that disciplinary action will be taken against him. All my emails from upstart remained unopened after the loan as he had total control I realized that I'm responsible for ****** when it was reported on my credit. This company is know for this and there's a few complaints in the pass against the yet they have continued to be stealing from individuals that are trying to better themselves. I honestly intended to take this matter to court and it's there responsible to be transparent. I asked him about the ***** but lied I'm only paying back what I will be receiving in my account knowing that upstart needed a cut also I was in a better place without this loan and I needs a solution to this mess they created out of greed.

Thank you for the refund of $2, ***************************************************************** the wrong when your company totally lied that you worked closely with upstart and upstart confirmed they don't know who Nationwide is also, I clearly asked ****** if there was any fees involved yes, he was transparent about your fees but not the origination fee from another company. Also upstart policy requires that the borrower needs to apply for the loan themselves and I never consent for Nationwide to create a gmail account on my behalf without my knowledge in order to be totally in control of my loan application. Multiple client have complained in the past yet you have continued to misrepresent others and that illegal. The origination fee it's between Nationwide and the court the company who applies for that loan and refuses to tell me the truth about the loan when asked questions you guys kept on misleading me through the entire process is unacceptable. The Judge will make the final ruling because I'm not having your company put me, my credit or reputation in a bad state it just as simple as that.

I was referred to Nationwide *************** by simple path. I talked with an agent that was my Concierge. I told him I needed to refi my current loan to lower my interest and my payments. We talked about how much I needed to pay off the current loan I had. With that being said he shouldve told me we should ask for more money because this is our fee. I was approved for a loan but they took out an origination fee, which left me short about 3K to pay off my loan. I called him and said well this loan isnt going to work and the loan had to be cancelled. He said that I still owe the fee but I dont have the loan. I thought the purpose of the company was to help me. I said well why cant we apply for a new loan the manager said I didnt qualify for one but that I need to pay the fee or they will start the process of putting it on my credit. If I was supposedly under contract for a certain amount a months. Why not wait a month to see if you ciiid help me. Now Im out 1500 with no loan. And they wouldnt let me out my contract. It feels like a scam

This company said that they would help me find a loan they did not help me find loan I found a loan on my own and then they said that that loan company is part of their field of clients and so I owe them 10% of whatever the loan amount is they didn't find it they didn't fill out the application for it they didn't do absolutely anything but yet they want 10%, well they're not going to get it I sign no agreement with them and did not ask for their services other than they just popped up on the internet and said that they could help almost like a debt consultant firm that most the time work for free. If they had done anything such as finding the loan or helping to secure it I could see their point but they did not so I do not owe them anything

I originally applied for a loan and was given a 13% interest fee and $2200 as a loan. Then it was rescinded and I was given the choice of another loan at supposedly 16% interest and $2400 fee. I said I wanted to see the details of this other loan but instead the woman from Nationwide put the loan through immediately without giving me time to think about it. I told her I felt like I was being scammed but it was too late. When I looked at the contact from ******** it turns out there is also an origination fee on top of the fee from Nationwide which was never mentioned. A total scam.

I am rejecting this response because:

The problem was that the conversation with the agent was difficult and made me feel like they were scamming me. The agent would  not let me talk and put a loan through before I had a chance to review it. It made a lot of extra work for me and anxiety that they would charge me anyway. They did cancel the loan but I had already talked to the company myself.

I called Nationwide Loan Consultants to inquire if they were able to acquire a loan for me based upon our conversation the week before. I signed the customer agreement that they requested. The agent whom I spoke with on 6/1/2023, stated that I was not offered a loan from any of their partners. On 6/2/2023, I requested that an email be sent to me stating that they were not able to find me a loan and that I be released from the customer agreement. I received an email from *****************, Department Manager, stating that they were unable to find me a loan at this time, but to contact them if there is a change within my credit profile.

I'm updating my original post from 04/19/2023 against Nationwide Lending. My issue has been resolved and they are not taking any further action against me. The Processing Manager will train his team differently going forward to avoid this happening again. I really appreciate this being resolved so quickly.
