Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against AA Temperature Services / G & R Cooling and Heating (State Reg. #'s CAC1819890, Florida Licensee # LCC20190000598) regarding an unsatisfactory service experience that occurred on July 4th, 2024, involving our air conditioning system at ***************************************On July 4th at 8:30 am, I contacted AA Temperature Services because the air conditioner at our tenant's condo had stopped working. The technician arrived around 11:00 am identified the problem as a clogged drain. The technician poured solvent into the drain line and attempted to remove excess water from the condensate drain line with a float switch using paper towels. However, he did not clear the drain line from the outside. While the **** unit resumed functioning, I asked if he would warrant his work and return if the problem recurred. He assured me he would, and I paid $428.30 for the service. At 11:29 AM, our tenants called again to inform us that the air conditioner had stopped working. Upon visiting the unit, I found the auto-shutoff mechanism had been triggered again. I contacted [**** Company Name] and requested a technician to return and complete the job. The operator informed me that the earliest available appointment was the next day.Given that the condo housed two residents in their 80s and the temperature was rising to 88 degrees, posing a significant health risk, I contacted another **** company that helped clear the drain line, and the air conditioner started working again.Due to the incomplete service provided by against AA Temperature Services technician, which caused significant inconvenience and required us to spend several hours on the 4th of July resolving the issue, I am requesting a full refund of $428.30.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt resolution.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
AA Temperature technician violated the following consumer laws:
1. Breach of Contract: The technician was hired to fix a specific problem but failed to do so.
2. Fraud or Misrepresentation: The technician promised to return if there was an issue but refused to do so.
3. Negligence: The technician failed to clear the drain pipe, a standard procedure for this type of problem.Witness statement attached.
Sincerely,

I have had AA Temperature Services perform services under a maintenance contract for my HVAC system since June 2020. For the past 2.5 years, my HVAC system continues to leak. AA Temperature has been out here numerous times and I have paid for all of the recommendations they have made...replace the pump, get a UV light etc. I still have the leaking problem and they are unwilling to call me back to discuss how this issue will be permanently resolved.Business Response

We have repaired the issues to the hvac system. The issue is with the drain line. We are not licensed plumbers therefore we can not fix the drain line. The customer has been told this is the issue and we recommend having a licensed plumber come out to inspect the drain line further. This is out of the scope of work we can perform.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because this is not accurate. AA Temperature Servies installed the pump which is attached to my AC Unit which I paid them for in June 2020. The pump is not installed/seated correctly. Therefore, the float, which detects too much water in the box, allows the box to overflow causing the unit to leak. Additionally, when the pump was installed, the black tubing which removes the water from the box is flexible and kinks causing the water to not be flushed properly. Lastly, the way it was installed, the pump must flush the water approximately 2 feet straight up. The pump does not run long enough (it only runs for a few seconds) nor is strong enough to flush the water against gravity which again prevents the water from being flushed out of the box, thereby causing it to leak. The box is consistently FULL even after the pump has run. After the pump runs, my expectation is that at least 50% of the water should be flushed out. I paid for a service call two weeks ago and still have a leaking problem. I expect the service manager to be professional enough to first of all call me back as well as come out and discuss a permanent resolution. I have consistently had this issue since AA Temp Services replaced the box (which I paid for) in June 2020. I have spent approximately $3000 based on their recommendations on how to solve the problem (replacing the pump, putting a UV light in, etc) and I still have the problem. No one has said I need to have this fixed by a plumber. Additionally, it is not the drain that is causing the problem. The pump needs to be seated correctly and the black tubing leading out from the pump box needs to be lowered. There is no reason it has to go to the ceiling then over to the drain. It can be lowered to go diagonal to the drain.
Sincerely,

Our technicians have been to the property multiple times and each time the pump has been reset. Several of those visits have been at no charge to the homeowner. We have photos dating back to 2020 when we were first called by the homeowner and the pump has been run the same since we started servicing this property and there have not been issues until now. We have told the homeowner that the issue is not HVAC related and they need to call a plumber to take care of the issue.Initial Complaint

At the top of the Estimate provided (under "Estimate Details", it states that the company will be "adding a return in the master bedroom with 10 to 12 inch flex duct". The reason that the above verbage was placed on the estimate, was due to the fact that I explained to the salesperson/installer (same person) that I did not get enough air flow to my master bedroom, which is where I spend half of my time. The company is not responding to my phone calls and requests to make me comfortable in my master bedroom with enough air flow, per the estimate. I do not understand why they will not do this, as I have fully paid for this system. I have already experienced two shoddy installation issues with the system (the air handler was not attached properly, and some ductwork was apart, therefore blowing cool air in my attic instead of my house). The company did come to fix those issues and I appreciated that. I would greatly appreciate it if the company would also complete the job they promised me as soon as possible with regard to the master bedroom, and fix the duct issues so that I can get the airflow that I was promised.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/05) */ Adding a return air vent is not feasible for this installation unfortunately as it would interfere with the current airflow of the home - more work would need to be completed to adjust the homes airflow, another option to get more airflow would potentially be a booster fan. Also, if you were charged for an item that we could not install, you would be due for a refund of that item. Please call us at our office line and ask for Tim
