New Sea Dek flooring was installed in the cockpit and on the swim platform of my Four Winns 378 Vista. From day one the color never matched on the swim platform, and the panels started delaminating. A warranty claim was filed with the original installer (Canvas Innovations) and the fabricator (Coastal Customs) which they agreed was delamination and new pieces were cut under warranty. Now when the time comes for install, nobody has any interest in owning up to paying for the labor to remove and reinstall the new pieces. This was not a cheap job at a cost of $6500, and I now regret very dollar spent on it. For a resolution I would like Sea Dek to own up to the manufacturing defects and pay to have my boat correctly repaired. I work in manufacturing, I understand producing defects, now own up to it.

We are sorry to hear that this customer has had such a difficult time getting his SeaDek replaced.  After reading the complaint and investigating the issue, I called both the fabricator *************** Customs) that cut his replacement kit and spoke to the installer that is going to be doing the warranty work.  Once the customer filed his original warranty claim back in March of 2023 with the fabricator, the fabricator filed a claim with SeaDek and SeaDek credited the fabricator for the cost of the sheets, as they requested.  At that point, the fabricator recut the kit using material they had in stock but found out that the customer had moved the boat. Then, the fabricator had to get in touch with another installer closer to where the boat was located to be able to do the job.  This, unfortunately, has taken too long, and we understand that the customer is frustrated. I spoke to the new installer and asked that he keeps me posted on progress of the tear out and reinstall and that we would help with the cost of the job.  I will be following up to make sure all goes well and that our customer is happy with his **********************.

    Install Labor: 4 hours $440

We had SeaDek installed in March of 2022 by a SeaDek certified installer in Florida, Castaway Customs, and paid $4,229.83 in total in three payments (One from ******* ****** and two from ******* ******) in February and March of 2022. The Deck Installation was completed in March 2022 and in late June of 2022 we reached out to make them aware of a product and/or installation failure that was occurring on the perimeter of the flooring. The flooring was peeling away at the edges. This is happening around the entire perimeter and is either a bad product or faulty installation, both of which should be covered under warranty. We called the installation company to have it replaced/repaired under the warranty and they made up a sketchy reason over the phone saying it was not covered because of sunlight reflection off of poles. What makes it even sketchier is they did not even come out to the boat to see 1. Where the poles vs damage is located and 2. that we have a custom boat cover the protects the boat from the sun when not in use. As I am sure you are aware, sunlight in Florida is completely normal, and should not be the reason a product like this would fail and not be covered under warranty, especially when we have a cover protecting the boat from Sunlight when not in use. I would like the damaged parts of item replaced and installed properly to avoid the same type of failure in the future.

Ordered SeaDek product for my boat through Castaway Customs a certified seadeck fabricator and installer. I spent about $4,000 and after 6 months the product is deteriorating. My warranty claim was denied and the manufacturer sent me a document on "light amplification" which basically said the product shouldn't be installed near high vertical walls without there being "mitigation pads" to protect the surface from overheating due to light bouncing off the walls. The document is dated 2019, long before the installation took place. Clearly SeaDeck was aware of the issue and the steps required to prevent it from happening. The Certified installer that I paid to properly install the product was negligent in that he did not advise or recommend that mitigation pads be installed. Therefore I believe it is SeaDecks responsibility to install the mitigation pads and replace the 2 damaged pieces.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/06) */ When reviewing a boat for a SeaDek kit, there is no determining factor on if or when a kit will be affected by light refraction. This is solely based on use and storage of the material. It is stated in our warranty that this light refraction, which we call light amplification is not covered under our Limited Warranty as it is a very situational occurrence. When **** reached out on 6/28 stating his dissatisfaction with our warranty, our sales team notified him that they would replace the kit as a customer satisfaction measure.
