I contacted the St. Petersburg Sliding Glass Door's Repair company that I had found through a google search on Monday morning to have someone come out and repair broken rollers on our sliding glass door. A "technician" called me back and said they can come to my house on Tuesday, May 17 from 10-12 to provide an estimate. The technician named Eric arrived at 11:45 in a Chrysler mini-van. He was wearing a blue polo that said "sliding glass door repair" on it. He said he could fix the door in about an hour and that it would cost $240 to add the rollers and that his labor would be $40. I said great, when can you start working and he said now. I left the room to go talk to another person in the front yard and within two minutes, the guy came running out saying he needed to talk to me. He had broken the glass in half and said that it was my fault. He then proceeded to say that the glass would cost me $750 to fix and that he would give me a discount for $650. Also said I would then need new tracks, new rollers, and that his labor would be $50/hour totaling the job to be $1,100. I told him to please leave and that I would end up framing in the house and he begged me saying he needed a 50% deposit now and that I shouldn't frame it in because that would cost me over $15k (which I know is not true). My brother ended up showing up and the guy ended up tripping over his words and leaving. As I walked out, he asked me how much it cost me to get a new garage door since that was being installed when he was there. I think he was just fishing for the next way to scam people. I did not pay him anything. The company is clearly a scam and I do not want anyone else to contact them and experience what I experienced. His number he had given me is now no longer reachable at XXX-XXX-XXXX
