Xtreme Roofing and Construction (XRC) has a history of asking dissatisfied customers to sign non-disclosure agreements as part of its complaint resolution process. Negative reviews may be significantly underrepresented. In 12/23, XRC gave me an estimate for attic insulation work. We signed their proposal and I paid the deposit. Before starting, XRC told me they had miscalculated job costs. Their quote rose from about $7,000 to $11,000. I declined their revised proposal. I was willing to release XRC from our original, fully executed contract if they gave me a refund of my deposit, which they offered to do. Jan. passed without a refund. In Feb., I made numerous calls to XRC to find out more. Each time I was told I would receive a callback which never happened. In March, I was told I might not receive my full refund because their contract allows deductions from a deposit when a customer cancels > 3 days after signing. Later, XRC wanted to deduct $500 from my refund saying it was justifiable because of a restocking cost. I reminded XRC that it was not me who cancelled the contract and that my agreement to their cancellation of the contract occurred after they reassured me they would refund my deposit. After hearing I was considering legal action, they agreed to a refund. Before issuing a check, XRC wanted me to sign a release agreement which contained non-disclosure provisions including the phrase: Each of the Parties agrees that it will avoid speaking or otherwise publishing or transmitting disparaging or critical statements or comments. Knowing XRC would be on shaky legal grounds if they tried to withhold my deposit until I accepted their non-disclosure terms, I didnt sign this agreement. This review doesnt violate any agreement I have with XRC. They finally returned my deposit in late March. There will obviously be fewer negative reviews on the internet the more often they try to impose similar non-disclosure requirements on their other dissatisfied customers.

**********************,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take customer satisfaction seriously and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.Firstly, we would like to address your concern regarding the deposit refund. After conducting a further inspection of your project, we found that the initial estimate provided had to be adjusted due to unforeseen complexities. This adjustment led to an increase in the project cost from $7,000 to $11,000. You then decided to decline our revised proposal and requested a refund of your deposit, effectively cancelling your contract with us.As with many businesses, our contracts stipulate that deposits are non-refundable. This policy is in place to cover the overhead costs and fees associated with project inspection, estimate creation, and the mobilization of crews. Despite this, we acknowledged your concerns and agreed to a revised cancellation agreement, ultimately refunding a significant portion of your deposit, excluding a justifiable deduction for the costs we had already incurred.Regarding the non-disclosure agreement, it is a standard practice in many businesses to include such clauses to protect both parties from any future misunderstandings or disputes. It is not intended to suppress negative feedback but to ensure that all communications are fair and respectful. We understand your concerns and would like to emphasize that our goal is always to resolve any issues in a fair and amicable manner. We apologize for any delays or communication issues you experienced during this process and appreciate your patience. Our intention was never to withhold your deposit unfairly but to reach a resolution that was fair to both parties. We are glad we could provide the refund as per your request. If there are any further concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We are committed to improving our services and ensuring that every customer is satisfied with their experience.Thank you for your understanding.

XRC didnt mention in their clarification how they got my deposit check. The check was accepted on 12/23/23 after we both signed their first proposal, finalizing an agreement for me to pay the initial estimate provided of $7017.26 for the project. Before starting the job, they discovered their estimate was low due to unforeseen complexities (nothing changed at the jobsite). At that point, XRC was faced with a decision: should they proceed with work as per our fully executed contract or try to cancel and renegotiate. They made it clear they were no longer interested in proceeding unless paid more. I did not ask to cancel our contract. What would motivate a customer to request a contract cancellation knowing the next proposal for the same job would cost more? I agreed to consider a new estimate provided XRC was willing to refund my deposit if we couldnt come to terms. They agreed to this. The project manager told me that he had already gotten approval from management to offer a refund. I got their second proposal on 1/15/24. The new estimate was over $11,000. Their policy is to keep some, or all, of a deposit if a customer cancels a contract. I dont agree that failing to accept this second proposal was effectively cancelling the original contract which, by that time, they had already cancelled. Maybe XRC can clarify their logic. Even though I was initially told I would get my deposit back, XRC didnt follow through in a timely way and they wanted to reduce the amount of the refund. It took weeks of unreturned phone calls, and the mention of legal help, before I finally got a full refund on 3/26/24. Their actions fell short of being glad we could provide the refund. Lastly, an NDA is typically used to keep information from disclosure. Im not really seeing how it protects both parties from any misunderstandings or disputes. Seems more likely to me they just want to keep unfavorable information from becoming public knowledge. Beware.

Dear ****************,We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. However, we would like to clarify a few points. The work performed by our company was exactly as outlined in your contract and was completed to a high standard. The issues you mentioned were not within the scope of work agreed upon in your contract and were handled by another company you hired. We were unaware of any dissatisfaction with our work until we read your review. Upon seeing your feedback, our team promptly met with you to confirm that the concerns you mentioned were not part of our contracted responsibilities. We regret that you felt this way and wish you had informed us earlier so we could have addressed any concerns you had. We strive to ensure our customers are satisfied and encourage open communication to resolve any issues promptly.

You dont see a lot of negative reviews of Xtreme Roofing and Construction aka XTC. This is because they attempt to make unsatisfied customers sign paperwork agreeing, under threat of future legal action, that they will not speak about or post about Xtreme in a negative way. I know because they tried to make me sign it. In fact, after they failed to even start on a roofing project I hired them for, signed paperwork on, and left a deposit for after 7 months of unanswered calls, staff changes, and a shell game of start dates, when I finally said I wanted my thousands of dollars deposit back and to cancel our agreement, they refused to return my money for a full month until I finally got a lawyer involved and prepared a lawsuit. They stated, in writing, that they would not return the money because I would not sign the document that included the agreement not to speak negatively about them. Even when they finally returned my money, they spitefully shorted my deposit by $30. I would speculate they only agreed to finally return my deposit without my promise of silence because they didnt want to be embarrassed in court in *******, where theyre trying to ramp up a solar business too but thats just speculation. I can speculate if I want, though. They have no right to stop me.Dont sign anything with them that forces you to be silent about them. I challenge the City of ******* government to look into these business practices by Xtreme roofing and construction, and of any contractor with similar practices and disqualify them from working for the city (which they brag about doing when courting new customers) as long as they make people sign agreements like this. Any contractor who tries to strong arm rights from their citizens as part of a contractural agreement should get no business from the city or benefit from the tax dollars of the same people they are legally trying to silence.

I was very impressed with Matt senior from our first meeting I was assured that if I contracted with them, I would have a project manager and they would be able to tackle the entire scope of the hurricane Ian damage . Over the course of nine months, I had nine different project managers with most leaving the company in a couple few weeks. There was literally no communication between anyone in the company and things that were discussed several times and included our contract never occurred (specifically screen reinforcement to soffits) In spite of having 9 of XRCs staff look at the job and give professional opinions when the work began it was determined the facia and gutter needed to be replaced for an additional $10,000. I had to make this decision on the spot as the sub contract crew who was supposed to only evaluate the work showed up and started tearing soffit and facia down. It was very uncomfortable as I was surrounded by a very aggressive group of workers who spoke no English I was also told that they couldn’t do only the facia which would have allowed me to get bids on the gutters. ( it turns out that was not true as they in fact had another crew come and do the gutter )Under extreme pressure I signed a change order and had to write a check on the spot. Also a supply of soffit material that I paid 500 for was used and I received no credit. The job site was not properly cleaned up I found dozens of nails and screws jagged strips of metal as well as tear off debris from the roof work in my yard. additionally my drive way was stained with hundreds of oil and tar stains They attempted to pressure wash the drive but only seemed to have gouged the surface. Very disappointed in the whole situation Don’t believe their carefully worded response to this review I have had several conversations and email exchanges with Taylor ******** at XRC and they are not reasonable or the least bit interested in resolving my issues to my satisfaction
