Stayed in "Somewhere on a beach" in Santa Rosa Beach July 2024... 1. The daybed with trundle did not exist - it was a pullout couch that was broken. We had to stay in while someone tried to fix it, took over 2 hours and the bed was still not fixed. Mattress was unable to be slept on. I have photos. Had to stick around the house until she was done trying to fix it. Completely messed up our sleeping arrangements for the entire stay. 2. Multiple lights burned out in the kitchen area. I counted at least 6. 3. Terribly dirty furniture in the living room. I wouldn't even sit on it. Outdoor couch is also nasty dirty. 4. No code for the outside closet/shed in the book. Despite the snarky response on text. Also, the code for the bikes in the book is WRONG. We were unable to use the bikes. 5. The golf cart plug in cord is melting. Might want to fix this. The chair rack on the golf cart is also broken. 6. Ice maker in the refrigerator only makes crushed ice. And the filter needs to be replaced. 7. There are a total of about 6 cups/glasses in the kitchen. And there was 1 extra trash bag for the kitchen. That's it. One. 8. There are a lot of beach chairs however most of them are nasty and rusted. 9. The lights went out in the front of the house. Someone had to come flip the breaker. 10. And the kicker is the "new" washer and dryer. The washer was broken (would not drain any water) so once again someone had to come fix it. She was there until after 11pm and still not able to fix it. My sister was helping her move a load of soaking wet beach towels to the bathtub and she got electrocuted. Twice. She legit could have died. Obviously there is some sort of short in the "new" washer. It's not new, it looks old. We all wanted to go to bed but had to wait until the repair person was done. Super inconvenient. And crazy unsafe. This property has been neglected and I blame the rental company.

I had a fantastic experience with Southern Holiday Homes during my recent vacation. The cleanliness of the property was impeccable, exceeding my expectations. Additionally, their communication throughout the booking process and during my stay was outstanding. I felt well-informed and supported every step of the way. I highly recommend Southern Holiday Homes to anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable vacation experience.

Booked “Saltwater Taffy” for seven(7) nights prior to the Memorial Day Week with Southern Holiday Homes. Knowing how the “system” works as a result of being in the rental management business myself, we found the home on Airbnb but booked directly with the management company to ensure we would receive the best rate and customer service possible. The booking was confirmed online, and I received the electronic rental agreement for the dates of our stay which I signed immediately. I then booked flights with Delta for our family of seven(7) at a cost of nearly $4,000. A few days later, I received a call stating that our booking would have to be cancelled because it conflicted with the company’s “summer stacking policy.” Meaning, our stay didn’t begin on the same day of the previous guest’s departure. Upon looking at the online reservation calendar, I found there was a one-night gap between our stay and the previous stay - something their online booking software was perfectly fine with allowing. Being familiar with their LiveRez software myself, I know this is something that could have easily been prevented with proper rate-input and arrival-date-based restrictions. I was provided the manager’s phone number and left a few voicemails. After failing to get in touch with her and never receiving a call back, I contacted the vacation planner again who said “I’m familiar with the matter and can tell you definitively that the final decision has been made. Your reservation has been cancelled.” This was an unfortunate end which resulted in us having to find another rental through another management company with arrival and departure dates which matched those associated with our non-refundable flights. As a professional company operating in a luxury rental market I would have hoped their service and management would have risen to match the quality of homes under their care.

I have been trying for a few days to reach someone by telephone at Southern Holiday Homes, and their phone line disconnects before I can leave a message. This might not be a legitimate business.

A Disastrous Disappointment Courtesy of Southern Holiday Homes From the moment we stepped into 'SEAing Stars', a vacation rental managed by Southern Holiday Homes, our senses were assaulted by the distinct and alarming smell of natural gas. This introduction set a grave tone for a stay that would be marked more by discomfort and frustration than relaxation and enjoyment. The problems continued with the property's elevator, a heavily advertised feature that was completely non-functional.. This wasn't a mere inconvenience but a significant burden for my elderly parents. They arrived before me and were forced to endure the strenuous task of lugging their luggage up multiple flights of stairs. Our hopes for refreshing swims were dashed when we saw the pool, an unsightly green for three out of our four-day stay. The pristine condition of the neighboring pool only added salt to the wound, highlighting the gross neglect of our own. The discomfort was further exacerbated by the non-functional air conditioning on the master floor. Every night became a struggle against the heat, turning peaceful sleep into fitful, sweat-soaked restlessness. The outdoor shower, a crucial amenity for a beachfront property like 'SEAing Stars', remained disappointingly non-operational throughout our stay. In summary, our experience with 'SEAing Stars', managed by Southern Holiday Homes, was a profound disappointment. The property's glaring neglect, disregard for basic maintenance, and severe safety concerns were unacceptable, especially considering the high rental cost. My advice to potential guests is to proceed with extreme caution. The attractive photos and descriptions of 'SEAing Stars' are a façade that hides the grim reality of a poorly maintained and potentially dangerous property. Avoid this vacation rental to spare yourself the same disheartening experience we endured. There are certainly safer, better-maintained, and more honestly managed options for your beachfront getaway.
