I hired Beachside Recovery to help my brother find treatment for an issue with drug abuse. I spoke at length with Drew about what would be covered by his fee. The main purpose of us hiring Drew was to help get my brother into an affordable treatment program. Once Drew had a colleague do the intact on my brother, he then offered two programs both of which were unaffordable. We told Drew since before we signed on that my brother was not currently, and he needed a treatment plan that was little to no cost. All Drew offered was two plans in the thousands of dollars range. Once it was clear we could not afford the outrageous plans he was offering he stopped all communication. We hired him on 2/18/22 to do a job and he is not doing it and has not done it, at this point my brother on his own found an affordable treatment plan and has started his program with zero help from the company we hired, I would like my money back that I paid Drew seeing as he did not follow through on his contract. Thank you Victoria

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/13) */ The complainant was referred to us by a local attorney regarding a family law case her brother was facing due to overdose in front of his children. We spent approximately 2.7 hours on three different free consultation phone calls prior to her retaining our services. Additionally, due to the referral source, we scholarshipped (discounted) $250 of our normal rate for this type of case of $2500 (as reflected in the invoice showing $2250 charge). We reviewed the terms and conditions of our services thoroughly with her over the phone PRIOR to collecting payment (terms and conditions listed within attached invoice), to which she expressed understanding, and subsequently paid the invoice (invoice clearly states, "Payment of this invoice acknowledges understanding of and agreement to these terms and conditions"). Subsequent to being retained by the complainant, we scheduled her loved one for his assessment. We thoroughly evaluated the individual according to ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) and made a recommendation based on criteria set by ASAM. We then completed our recommendation to the court, and sent all documentation over to the attorney for their review and use in legal mitigation. The complainant's loved one then had the complainant call us to complain about the recommendation, stating he did not want to stay in a sober living residence during his treatment, which based on evaluation, was the best course of treatment given his current clinical and legal circumstance. We then indicated that we were willing to be flexible, but that if he was not willing to do the sober living, that we would recommend a higher level of care (more clinical hours) due to him not have the accountability of the sober living. We also indicated that a higher level of care is more money. We were actually able to get a DISCOUNTED rate with the facility, due to the circumstances, and them being of a philanthropic nature. The cost was clearly communicated to the complainant, who expressed understanding and indicated she would help her loved one. Based on the individuals presenting issues, a recent overdose on heroin in front of his children, an open family law case, and the potential for criminal charges to be filed, we made the most ethically and clinically competent recommendation possible taking into consideration his financial needs. The individual then diverted from the clinical recommendations, found a LESS intensive level of care that charged less to essentially "jump through hoops," and engaged in that program, which is not clinically appropriate or recommended based on presenting issues both clinically, legally, and psychosocially. Upon the individual taking it upon himself to determine his own clinical appropriateness, we then distanced ourselves from the case, as indicated in the terms and conditions of the agreement. Subsequent to this, on Monday, March 8, 2022, from 7:48pm to 10:31pm, the complainant engaged in significant harassment of our employee via phone calls and numerous defaming and threatening texts (attached). Due to the individual not following clinical recommendations and the harassment and verbal abuse toward our staff by the complainant, all communication was discontinued and the individuals attorney was notified of the incident. Terms and conditions (excerpt) as follows (attached in original invoice) - "Any disrespect toward staff including, but not limited to, verbal disrespect, physical harm, harassment, lack of communication, non-payment of fees/financial arrangements, and/or blatant disregard for clinical recommendations may result in termination of the collaborative agreement without refund. The payment of this invoice acknowledges understanding of and agreement to these terms and conditions." Our team put a significant amount of work into this case, as we always do, at a discounted rate, and additionally did everything in our power to find the most CLINIALLY APPROPRIATE and cost effective care for the individual. We absolutely did our job and more, even after enduring a combative attitude from both the individual and the complainant. The complainant does not qualify for a refund, and no refund will be issued. All clinical documentation, invoice with terms and conditions, and text messages have been attached for your reference. Furthermore, should the complainant engage in any more harassing phone calls, text messages, or defamation of character, we are prepared to, and will take, legal action against her. Please feel free to call with any further questions or concerns. Thank you Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/15) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I was not referred by my brother's attorney, in fact I was referred by the nurse at the hospital. Drew and I did speak on the phone about my brother and his case prior to signing a contract as I am sure anyone would do. He makes a good story for himself and really tries to sell himself as a professional when he is anything but, he is a conman. I have attached the full conversation in text that is unedited where you can see his unprofessional manner where he makes untrue claims about myself and in fact laughs at me, I never screamed at him, I was upset, and I was firm but not screaming. He sold his business because he is a reformed addict and that was how he would help my brother but now he says that is all a lie. This man is one giant liar and scam artist who took a family in crisis and made money off them. Drew and I spoke EXTENSIVELY prior to me signing with him that I needed to know he would make a recommendation that would be affordable for my brother and would be a safe environment for him. My brother has no insurance and due to injuries sustained from his overdose was not currently working. The first recommendation Drew came back with was THOUSANDS of dollars at a half-way house that is multi-level living. My brother can't use stairs due to his injury. Is this a clinically appropriate recommendation? So yes, I did call Drew about this because 1. it was not affordable and 2. it was not a safe environment. His professional response was to call my brother a *****. Why would I not call? I am the paying client and Drew constantly screams at my brother if he does not follow what Drew says he will never see his children again. Drew came back with a second and final recommendation that was even more money so even more unaffordable, and after that we never heard a word again. This is where and why I want a refund; they were hired to do job and did not do it. He was to help find my brother affordable care. He failed, he did not even try, he gave two unaffordable options and never followed up once he realized he would not make money off of us. At that point my brother went and found a facility on his own that was affordable. Drew and his team are just making a profit off of families in need. He did not fulfill his contract. I would like a refund. When I reached out to him because it was clear he was not working for us any longer and only took our money I called him at 730 at night and our texts went back and forth. The time does not matter because as Drew stated prior to us hiring him and after being hired he was available at any time, and we could call him at any time. So, it was not out of line to call at 730. And the texts were a back-and-forth conversation, it was not harassment. He was constantly texting me, and in fact I asked him to not text me anymore and he texted me again. So, by his definition I suppose he was harassing me. None of that is the point though. The point is Drew was hired to do an intact and find affordable treatment. He did not uphold his part of the contract. Unfortunately, it won't let me upload the entire text conversation. My limit was hit for uploads. If you need additional information please let me know. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/04/18) */ We have responded with everything that is necessary and relevant. We have no further response other than what was located within our original response, which we feel is sufficient. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
