On November 2, 2023 I wrote a check to Those Granite Guys in ** ********** ** in the amount of $479.27. This was half the amount due for the total job. The owner, **** cashed my check that same day. He promised to install the following week. I have never heard back from him. He does not answer the phone and has since locked up his property and put a closed sign on the fence. I do not wish to have him install the countertop, due to numerous complaints about his company. I would like my deposit check refunded.Initial Complaint

We hired Those Granite Guys in April 2023 to remodel our home. We were told by the owner that he is fully licensed to provide constructions services. They collected $63,995 for work that includes installing new floors, new countertops, painting the entire house, fully remodeling 4 bathrooms, electrical work and other construction services. After making the full payment, they proceeded to start work and destroyed our home. We then realized that they don’t have a construction licenses and the ones the owner provided to us were fake. We also realized that we needed permits to do the work. We asked the owner to stop all the work and refund us the money. He repeatedly made excuses and promised to get back to us and then stopped responding to our messages. They are also collected full payment from us for two quartz countertops in the amount of $6,187 and will not deliver the materials to us.Business response

hi you keep on saying the work we were contracted to do we are allowed to do..... your contractor you hired told u the samething.
i gave all the information to my lawyer.... u canceled on me to do the job.....

I am rejecting this response because: You are not a licensed contractor in the state of ******* or *** ***** ******. Therefore, you are not permitted to do plumbing work, electrical work or any other contractor work in my home. Our new contractor filed all the necessary permits to the work and we had county inspector come in and approve the work that was done by our new contract. The licenses your provided to me showing that you are licensed in *** ****** county are fake or expired. Put me in touch with your attorney so that I can show them the evidence. I am also willing and able to take this court. That will be our next step unless a resolution is found. At that point, your attorney will be free to show us how you are licensed to this work. Also, we fully paid for 2 slabs of quartz, which you refuse to deliver to us. Another violation.

I have not filed a legal claim yet, as I am still trying to resolve this matter with the business. I am asking (i) a full refund of the work they did not complete, and (ii) delivery of the two quartz slabs (which are fully paid for) or immediate refund of the payment we made for them. I am asking for a total refund of $36,628. If this refund is not made, then I will pursue the claim in court and will request additional triple damages as permitted by ******* law for contractor fraud.
If business is represented by an attorney, I would like to speak with the attorney.

Please see the attached letter and photos that I sent via email to "Those Granite Guys." Receipt was acknowledged by the company "Customer Service Team" on February 21, 2023 at 10:04 AM EST. Email stated: Good Morning, I have printed this out and will give it to the owner. I am see**** deposit of the remaining funds ($1,000) being held by this business. At this point I do not want them to ever set foot in my home again. I will have to replace the awful product they installed by a competent contractor. HI GOOD DAY SO MRS **** HAD CHOSEN THOSE PIECES.... ***** IS THE ONE WHO PUTS A LABEL ON THEM AFTER CUSTOMER CHOSE THE. YES MAYBE THERE WAS SOME MISS APPOINTMENTS DUE TO THE OWNERS FATHER IS IN HOSPICE AND DYING FROM CANCER AND ALSO EVERY ORGAN SHUTTING DOWN. SO BEFORE PUT ON HOSPICE THE OWNERS HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH TO HOSPITAL AND DOCTORS APPOINMENTS. I CAN SHOW PROOF. ALSO AS FAR THE MATERIAL. MATERIAL WAS DELEIVERED AND CUSTOMER SAID SOMETHING ABOUT IT.SO THE OWNER HAD SAID WELL IF THATS NOT WHAT YOU CHOSE U CAN GO BACK AND SHOW ME AND THEN I WILL RECUT IT. BUT ALSO MRS. **** SAID DONT WORRY ABOUT IT I KINDA LIKE THEM JUST LEAVE IT AND INSTAL IT PLEASE. ALSO THE CUSTOMER ALSO HAD 1,000 DOLLARS TAKEN OFF. AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE INVOICE FOR THE INCONVIECE. I am rejecting this response because: The business owner was notified as documented in my submission. My wife was totally accommodating of any / all health and family issues noted.
His version of the material choice / selection is an absolute lie. His workers would not bring the pieces to our condo until she paid in full. Additionally, the terrible quality of the installation is noted in the photos I sent to the owner and to the BBB.
I will not accept this distortion of the events.

hi so well those people that they were dealing with is no longer here. so if he would like i will redo the job. but i have no emails, nothing from them....
so im the new employee and i will try to help on what i can. but no money will be given back.... i would like to know what material they picked out....
due too she has 6 different quote she has chosen from. also there is one quote for the material that she had installed. and as soon as a customer comes in she is to
put the customers name on it. so that how the whole office communicates on customers selectios. also as well they agree upon 1,000 off to pay for the inconviuence.
so the thing i can do is try to fix the problem or redo it but that 1,000 would have to be paid. due to the job will be completed correctly and because she is getting different material...
she got the discount before due to the inconvience and she agreed upon keeping the material.

Owner of this company has stolen money from my parents. We have tried numerous times to collect this money and he will not pick up phone calls. He has his office employees ignoring our calls. My parents paid for a service that never got done, he signed an agreement to pay us back and has since ignored the committment.Customer response

On 1/31/23 Those Granite Guys demoed old countertops and replace with new quartz. The demolition team tore out all of my sink plumbing all parts of garbage disposal and took it away without ever checking with me. I ended up having to pay a plumber $835 in order to obtain all missing parts and put back together. Had the important pieces been left, I would have been able to put back together without incurring this charge. I contacted the company and after incessantly asking for a resolution, the company promised a refund of the demolition amount of $372. The issue now is that the company, despite telling me 2 times the credit was being issued, has not issued. They are unresponsive. This company has been a nightmare to deal with. And after a resolution I was hopeful it was finally over. But now, they aren't living up to their promises. I need help to receive the money due to me and that was promised.
