On February 9, 2023, I purchased a used 2020 ******* ******* *** 3.3T, VIN: *****************, with a mileage of ******. The salesperson was ***********************, the Manager was ***********************, and the F&I Manager was *************************. I was told that there was 39 months or ****** miles remaining on the original bumper to bumper manufacturers warranty; and I was also told there was 99 months or ****** miles remaining on the manufacturers drivetrain warranty. The CARFAX report provided during our negotiation (Copy Attached), showed the estimated start date of the warranty as 04/19/2021 (The last CARFAX reading reported on 01/24/2023 showed ****** miles and the date of the CARFAX was 02/08/2023. On February 10, 2023, which was the day after the purchase, I called ******* directly to inquire about information regarding the Digital Key access and to obtain the contact information for their roadside assistance program incase needed for future use. I was told at that time that the Date of first use of my vehicle was January 17, 2020, not April 19, 2021 as I was told by the salesman, ***********************. This is more than 15 months less warranty coverage than what I was told. *********************** assured me that what is shown on the CARFAX report is what I would be receiving with the purchase of this vehicle. Since the information he provided to me is not accurate and would have affected my decision to purchase this vehicle, I estimate the amount of damages to me to be approximately $1,988.17 plus tax. This amount was calculated based on my conversation on 02/28/2023, with *******************, Finance Manager with ******* *******/*******/********************. He informed me the cost to purchase 4 years/48,000 miles extended warranty if purchased today would be $2,858 plus tax. Since the dealership shorted me 16 months in warranty coverage I calculate they should reimburse me $1,988.17 plus tax to put towards me purchasing an extended warranty. The dealership was advised of this and have not responded to me.

    Business response

    04/18/2023

    Good afternoon *******,

*************** to a complaint made by ***********************************. I apologize for the delay as it was only forwarded to me this weekend. ************************ purchased the vehicle on 2/9/23 and was provided a Carfax that he signed stating the original purchase date of 2/9/21 with 39 months and ****** miles of warranty remaining and also that any subsequent owners only qualify for a 5 year or ****** mile powertrain warranty. Please see attachment. Unfortunately, according to the Genesis ****** that he brought it to stated that the original in service date was reported incorrectly to Carfax by the original ******. This is a very rare occurrence and is typically our best way to verify accurate vehicle history for the customer and also supply available options on additional warranties. I understand Mr. ***********  grievance with this unexpected situation as we are truly focused on customer satisfaction. If it is acceptable to ************************, I would like to offer a 4year/48,000 warranty at no cost to him. I hope this will satisfy his concern and resolve this unfortunate unforeseen issue.

    Sincerely,

    ***********************

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

    Hi *******.

If they are offering me an EXTENDED 4years/48,000miles, I'll accept their offer. That is as long as it extends my manufacturers warranty. Once the offer is clarified and accepted, can you please tell me how I will go about getting it in writing and go ahead and get the warranty in place.

Thank you! I really appreciate your help in resolving this issue.
