I hired tadlock roofing on Feb 24th 2022 for a new roof, 2 skylights and gutters and down spouts.tthey did the roof and did a good job, they had to come back to replace a scratched up skylight and fix shingles that were up around my electric mast.tgey came the next day and fixed both. My complaint is the salesman that came and sold me the job ***** ******* told me they had a referral program.i asked how it worked and he said if you refer someone to us for a roof and they contract with us and we do the job and get paid you get 150.00 dosrs.well I did all that and they sent me an email and said that my referral didn't qualify for getting the money.i feel they used me to get a job through me and then refuse to pay me.i would not recommend a company that's dishonest over 150.00, considering I paid them 21,000 dollars and my brother in law paid them 15,000 dollars, so for me getting them almost 40,000 dollars worth of work they don't want to part with 150.00.i don't like being lied to, I did my part by handing them a client!!!

On April 6th and 7th Tadlock roofing completed my roof install. They didn’t follow manufacturers guidelines for drying the felt on the roof nor did they follow the manufacturers guidelines on the exposed decking, exposed chimney rafters, insulation, framing and lumber. During Florida’s inclemental weather when installing the roof and According to ***** ****** guidelines they did not dry out felt, they did not install insulation in my attic and allowed rain to drop on the rafters and ceiling because they did not did not tarp my roof at locations exposed to the rain. Tadlock roofing failed to tarp my back patio roof during the rain, so two months after they install the patio roof, the patio ceiling collapsed and it is allowing animals to go into my attic. Tadlock roofing failed to cover someplace on my roof and there was no insulation and now my interior attic ceiling has a wet spot.

Tadlock Roofing completed roof on 4/08/22. The ceiling collapse was reported to Tadlock Roofing on 7/25/22. While the roof was in progress multiple sheets of plywood were replaced in porch area. The picture provided by HO of rain on decking shows 1ft (over soffit) exposed. Old wood still in place? The Porch deck is covered in self adhered underlayment when roof was replaced. No visible signs of insulation in area from when ceiling collapsed. Most porch attics are not insulated.

7/27 initial inspection of acclaimed leak. No leak detected.
8/3 performed water test with son. No leak detected.
8/10 another leak test performed. No leak detected.
No felt was used for roof installation, synthetic underlayment was installed on the main house and self-adhered underlayment was installed on the porch roof. Wood replace during roof replacement was 544 sq ft of plywood due to rot throughout project. 3,100 sq ft of shingles replaced

Interior air quality has nothing to do with roof replacement or workmanship.
Electric bill has nothing to do with workmanship warranty or roof replacement

Plausible assumptions- existing moisture in attic causing back side of drywall to buckle. Moisture in air during reroof when attic was open causing drywall to buckle. Since ceilings have caved in and owner has not secured owner admits animals are in attic and likely chewing through AC vents burrowing.

HO has been told multiple times this is not a workmanship warranty relative to ceiling.

We used Tadlock Roofing over around the week of October 18 to replace our roof and skylights. During the process the project manager only checked in once briefly on the status of the roof. After the completion of the roof visible nails are seen all around the soffits which were not previously there. Shingles were physically inside of the house from the way the skylights were replaced. After a month of reaching out the company did replace the skylights and write a check for damages that occurred to the property from their team and installation. However a shade that was on the previous skylight was not replaced, and the company refuses to mend and properly return the house to it's previous aesthetic. The integrity of the wood on the soffits is at risk, along with visible nails that could potentially harm someone. Tadlock states they are not responsible secondary to the nails being a cosmetic issue. However our property appraiser has stated that the nails marring the soffits negatively impacts the structure and aesthetics of the house. We paid around 21,500 and trusted that a company would leave us with a roof like advertised in their sales and on the website. Instead we have an uncompleted roof with nails protruding that are visible to the naked eye.

       Mr. & Mrs. ****,
After further review of the issue with the soffit, it is determined this will not be fixed by Tadlock. The reason is that this is purely aesthetic. Also, there is no way to tell these affected areas only had one layer of half inch plywood at the time of install or   before install. Unfortunately they do not make a nail that is small enough to accommodate going into ½” material without it penetrating through, that will also fall under the manufacturer and state code specifications as a proper fastener for installation.   If you have any further questions on this please contact myself or *** and we can discuss.

-This was addressed with the cus***er in the letter above.
       Code Reference:
       R905.2.5 Fasteners.
Fasteners for asphalt shingles shall be galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum or copper roofing nails, minimum 12-gage [0.105 inch (3 mm)] shank with a minimum 3/8-inch-diameter (9.5 mm) head, complying with ASTM F1667, of a length to   penetrate through the roofing materials and not less than 3/4 inch (19.1 mm) into the roof sheathing. Where the roof sheathing is less than 3/4 inch (19.1 mm) thick, the fasteners shall penetrate through the sheathing.

Exception: If the architectural appearance is to be preserved from below, an alternate method of attachment complying with the wind load requirements of Chapter 16 of the Florida Building Code, Building may be proposed unless otherwise addressed in   Chapter 9. The alternative attachment shall be prepared, signed and sealed by a Florida-registered architect or a Florida-registered engineer, which architect or engineer shall be proficient in structural design.

In reference to the exception, this would have stopped the project for an extended amount of time and would have left this project open for that amount of time. Previous experience to deviation from building code recommendation is that it is no longer   warranted by the manufacturer.

Tadlock Roofings crew cleaned up any debris that entered the house. Visible underlayment on the inside once skylight was replaced is a typical outcome of skylight replacement. The solution to which, is installing trim as has been done after the skylight   in question was replaced. All at no additional charge to the homeowner. The blind was not contractually included, however as we have not had a chance to discuss this with the *****, since we were only contracted to replace the skylight and we have no   record of the shade they are referring to, yet Tadlock Roofing was willing to compensate them for the shade. The installed skylight is a Velux unit and the shade required for this unit is $400. Tadlock Roofing is willing to issue a check in this amount as a   show of good will in combination with that and all of the responses included here if the ***** will agree to retract BBB complaint and refrain from registering any more reviews.

There is no way to tell these affected areas only had one layer of half inch plywood at the time of install or before install. This will fall under the manufacturer and state code specifications as a proper fastener for installation.

Where the roof sheathing is less than 3/4 inch (19.1 mm) thick, the fasteners shall penetrate through the sheathing.

Nailing the material per manufacturer and Florida specs does not negatively impact the integrity of the structure. Sheathing is designed to have nails penetrate through it. See code reference above.

We paid around 21,500 and trusted that a company would leave us with a roof like advertised in their sales and on the website. Instead we have an uncompleted roof with nails protruding that are visible to the naked eye.

The roof is complete as per scope, FBC requirements and manufacturer specs. The aesthetic nature of the soffits is outside the control of Tadlock Roofing. Furthermore, installing nails that did not penetrate the decking would have been a violation of the   Florida Building Code. If the ***** are concerned with the look of the nails penetrating the soffit, Tadlock Roofing did recommend solutions that could be pursued with a third party.

I signed a contract with Tadlock Roofing for a new roof. Contract states Tadlock will be responsible for removal of all roofing trash. 3 weeks latter after numerous phone calls my drive way is still full of trashed roofing materials. Tadlock come out once with a supervisor and removed some of the trash and said they will be back for the rest. That hasn't happen and they are per contract responsible for removing all the material. When I investigated Tadlock on the internet there were similar reports about thier failure to clean up. They say they are A+ listed with the BBB. This is not a company that appears to care about fulfilling their contract obligations. As of today Sept 23,2021 the trash and loose nails are still piled up in my driveway.

Once debris was cleaned up all was inspected by the homeowners and was to their satisfaction.
