I paid almost 4000 dollars to get head gasket replaced. The car overheated just the day I picked it up after driving 10 miles. BMW dealer has diagnosed the cause of overheating due to faulty gasket replacement I presented their report to Guys Automotive and they refused to redo the job

On Friday Jan 21, 2022 I dropped my car off at Guys Automotive. I explained to them the car was making a humming sound. I also explained to them the head cover gasket was cracked and I wasn't sure if that had something to do with it. Other than the humming the car was running and it never shut off while driving. I told them to diagnose the car and tell me what I needed to do to get the car running properly. On 1/25/22 I received a phone call saying my car was running smoothly and it was ready for pick up. I picked the car up and was headed towards my house when the car began to slow down even while I was pushing the gas. I pulled into a near by plaza and the car cut off completely as I tried to make it to a parking space. I called Guys Automotive and someone from the shop named Mike met me in the plaza and told me to leave my key with him and that they would towe the car back to the shop to get the issue resolved. When I got home they called me back and told me that I would have to get my own car towed to the dealership and have it diagnosed. If it came back that one of their parts failed, they would pay for the diagnosis, but if it read off other problems I would have to pay for it. After my car stayed in the plaza all night because they called me after the shop was closed and I had no way to get my key from them, Mike met me back at the car Jan 26th so I could get my key. He arrived before me and said that the car was working and when I got there it was running. I drove the car to the gas station and then home. When I tried to drive it to the store I got to the stop sign at my street and the car started to slow down again, so I tried to make it back to my drive way, but the car shut off again leaving me to have to push it back in my drive way. I called them back and they are refusing to take a second look at the car unless I pay them to re-diagnose the car, after they told me they diagnosed it the first time and charged me for a diagnostic test and labor.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/31) */ on Jan 21st 2022 Mrs. **** ****** brought her 2010 Nissan Altima to Guys Automotive 14611 N. Nebraska Ave. Running in very bad condition. She explained her car was running rough with a humming noise at idle. A visual inspection was done 1st as per very vehicle that enters the company... These are the findings. Tire light flashing, Brake light on, VDC light stuck off, Check engine light on, Air Bag light flashing, Steering column stuck in downward position , Drivers front seat stuck in full foreward postion, Right front tire coming apart on inside tread,Left rear tire bubbled, All transmission mounts broken, All motor mounts broken, OIl leaking from every Gasket possible, Brake fliud dark Black, power steering fluid burnt and gritty with metal shaving, coolant level very low, NO OIL ON DIP STICK. vehicle smoking badly.Air filter completely clogged, worst air filter this shop has seen. Snan tool revealed these DTCs(diagnostic trouble codes) P0301,P0302,P0303,P0304 meaning all $ cylinders are misfiring,P0011 Camshaft position timing over advanced,P0132 o2 sensor Bank 1 SEnsor 2, P0420 Cat eff. below threshold and P0455 Gross evap leak found fuel cap missing.Called Mrs. **** explained all issues and concerns. Mrs. **** only was able to repair the bare min.financially. We recommended starting with replacing air filter and all 4 spark plugs. Upon removing #1 spark plug oil dripped down into top of piston. Valve cover leaking oil Badly. Called her back told her about it she agreed to replace.Tech replaced valve cover gasket and all 4 spark plugs. Vehicle started up after repair, Called her told her ready for pick up. On Jan. 25th 2022 she paid her bill and full and drove car away.20 minutes later she called and said her car stalled and would not start. Mike meet her immediately told her car needs to be towed back to shop that maybe it could be a sensor or something we would re check for free. Never saw Mrs. **** again. Her vehicle was and is in bad condition. We kept bill at low min. to help her financial issue. We explain that cam sensor maybe issue. Are position is we can recheck her vehicle but she needs to buy the necessary parts/repairs. We did not cause the problems but are trying to help resolve the issues at hand. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/01/31) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The above codes were never explained to me. I never gave them a specific budget, so how would they know what I was willing to spend? I asked what was needed to get the car running properly and they only mentioned the 3 services that I paid for. If they knew the car was in bad condition they should have mentioned that before offering to fix the car. The car is also in worse condition now, than when I brought it in for a diagnosis. The car has never shut off while driving. That started after they fixed it. The reason I didn't take the car back was because, they told me they would towe it back to the shop to re-diagnose it for free which they never did. They left my car in the parking lot of a plaza overnight. Then they told me I would have to get it towed to Nissan myself to have it rediagnosed. If they it was something they caused they would pay for the diagnosis, but if it was something else I would be forced to pay for another diagnosis. Why would the car need to be rediagnosed if you already diagnosed it? They also told me that I could bring it back to the shop and they'll check it for free, but now they want me to pay for them to diagnose the car again? Or pay for them to guess what the problem is. They lied about the car running smoothly, and they never told me nothing was wrong with car beyond the head cover gasket being cracked and the car needing a tune up, which were all things I mentioned to them when I dropped the car off. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/02/02) */ We went above the normal and drove to the customer to look at the car after she had a problem with the car shutting off. The car left the shop running smooth and started on the parking lot when we arrived. The customer was told that we could tow the car but there is a charge however if the car would run they could drive it in. The customer did not want to pay for the tow or any other repairs. I'm sorry she is having a problem with the running of the car, but all we can do is verify the cause and it will be a separate charge for the repairs. We can tell its not due to our work but that the car will need more repairs that will cost money as to the result of driving so long needing repairs but ignoring the issues. As we mentioned before, this car was in poor shape and this was expressed during the calls with the customer during the approval prosses as well as when she picked up the car. She will need to tow the car in and we will be happy to recheck it. She will have to pay for the repairs and the tow. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/02/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do not trust them to properly fix my car after I have been lied to and lied on. It's not going above and beyond to meet me 5 or so minutes down the road when my car which has never cut off does so on the way from their shop. It was also told to me by Mike that my car would be towed by them for free. If they told me that I would have to towe it myself they would have never asked for my key. It's wasn't until I had gotten all the way home that they told me I would have to get my car towed to Nissan not them, forcing me to leave my car in the plaza overnight. They closed in 5 mins and my car was stuck in the plaza there was no way for me to make it back up there to get my key. I even have a text from Mike stating he was back at my car with my key the next morning. Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2022/02/04) */ A refund is simply out of the question. The customer needs to actually service this vehicle timely to prevent problems like this in the future. I am attaching a picture of the worst air filter I've seen in 20 years from this car to show how poorly maintained this car was. We can recheck the car as a courtesy, but I'm confidant that there is no help for this customer as this is NOT a good customer to start with and this car is in the poorest of conditions due to the neglect of the customer. Consumer Response /* (4200, 15, 2022/02/15) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I don't trust them to do any work on my car ever again. Since my car left your shop I had it looked at by another mechanic that notified me you placed old parts on my car. You claimed to change the spark plugs, but they were old and covered in oil (I'll be attaching a picture). You claimed to change one coil, but all the coils were busted. My wires had also been frayed. I have replaced all parts mentioned and now my car is working perfectly fine. I also see this is not the first time you've rigged someone's car for them to bring it back and you claim it's the "camshaft sensor" I see this is something you do often. I'll be attaching those claims as well. I'll be sure to let everyone know about my horrible experience and how crooked Guys Automotive really is. The customer service is horrible and you want people to pay you for a guess. That is robbery!
