After months of no contact or information with my prior gym Anytime Fitness in ******* ******* after multiple email inquiries into canceling my membership and obtaining my membership agreement I have been approached by their retained law firm about owed money.The time of attempted contact was from August to October upon which I believed my membership was to have ceased due to my yearly membership lapsing.During this period they never attempted contact via email or phone from either me not making payments nor from my prior inquiries.Business response

This member has never once emailed us. If the member was in automatic renewal they were continued to be billed. The member has also never contacted us as well. We require 60 day notice of cancellation unless the original contract states differently. Regardless, the member needs to call, email or come in person for cancellation. I signed a 2-year contract with this business in **** 2020 which took effect on **** 28, 2020. Through no fault of the business I decided to not have my contract renewed after **** 2022. Thus, on **** 27, 2022, I called (as I was/am currently residing in a different city than the business) and requested that my contract not be renewed, to which the person I spoke to agreed. Though, for some reason, they insisted on treating this action as a contract cancellation. I was told that my bill for **** would act as a contract cancellation fee and that I would not have to pay any other fees, including the biannual club maintenance fee which would be charged on July 1. July 1, 2022, the business charged me the club maintenance fee, I was told wouldnt be charged, and on July 28, 2022, they charged me the monthly membership fee. After multiple failed attempts to contact their office about the issue(no one would answer the phone) I was forced to contact my bank to dispute the charge and block the business from future charges. As of October 5, 2022, the business claims I owe them $155 and are threatening, through emails from *** Fitness Solutions, further action to collect the entire balance due. I have tried contacting *** Fitness Solutions to resolve the issue, but they insist that I owe the business $155, even after I explained the situation.Business response
