Our former insurer, Lighthouse, was sold and Allied Trust acquired our policy. On February 10, 2024, my husband received an email from Allied Trust indicating that in order continue to be covered, we needed a complete roof replacement, with documentation and photos, completed by March 27, 2024. We immediately began seeking funding & spent the entire next day (which required my husband using leave from work) on the phone with both our bank, & multiple roofing professionals in our area. Our bank informed us that funding could be secured in approximately 55 days, which would put us at April 8, 2024. I emailed back to Allied requesting an extension, to which the underwriter, ****** ******, stated, We do not provide extensions. If they do not have the full roof replacement done by 3/27. It will go pending cancellation that allows for another 30 days". I then asked if a roofing company's proposal or contract were to be submitted by March 27th, noting the date the roof replacement would be completed, would that prevent a pending cancellation notice from being issued. Unfortunately, the underwriter stated that would not be sufficient. Im not sure what world Allied Trust lives in, but giving 6 weeks for a roof replacement to take place or else is bad business practice. They were not flexible or reasonable. Funding takes time, as does interviewing roofing specialists, as well as having the work completed. There is a backlog in our area (**********, **) of these type services due to new homes being built. Needless to say, weve shopped around and Allied was ALSO charging us more than quotes we got from competitors. We are canceling our policy immediately with this company.Customer Answer

Ive not received any communication from this business, despite their claim to have resolved the matter. Neither I, nor my husband, received a formal apology, and a refund for their services as of today. (2/17/2025)

My house was in a major water damage, I have filled a claim on May of 2024, and have provided all the reports and documentation required by allied trust & the adjuster, today is Aug 26th and still nothing has been done. The adjuster ignores my emails and calls. They have sent 4 different people to check the damages. I hoping management see this or i will take this matter with TDI and the court of law.Claim#*******Initial Complaint

I applied for a homeowners insurance policy and was sold a split policy through Magnolia Home and Auto in Metarie, ** who sold ** a Citizens policy which covered wind and hail and a Allied Trust Insurance Company policy which covered everything else. I was never told that Allied had $200 policy fee, and they canceled my policy due to "underwriting concerns", with the cancelation going into effect 3/21/2024. I had no choice but to seek coverage elsewhere. I found someone to cover us so we didn't risk lender placed coverage, and to make sure we were covered. We set our new policy up right away, and were told by an Allied rep that since we did not wait it out until their cancelation date, we would not be getting our $200 back. This makes no sense to me as they didn't want our business anyway. They are the ones that gave us a termination date only because the law requires them to. We paid them $712, and were told via email that only $454.00 would be returned. We haven't received that yet, but we would like our money back entirely. They charged us $712 for the year, of which is a $200 policy fee then charged us in "day increments" with each day costing $1.40 - so our total fee was $57.40 for the 41 days insured before they canceled us - we are still owed $654.00. Our desired settlement is just getting our policy fee back of $200 (the uninsured portion) and the aforementioned refund of $454 that we were told was being sent - Total refund should be $654.00Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Your representative told me that the only way I can get a refund is to get the agency that signed me up, and then was forced to cancel me...to lobby for my refund. That's not right. They didn't get to keep my business so there is no monetary gain for them, just work and the agent shouldn't have to fight this for me. He isn't my friend. I am advocating for myself and I want my $200 back. You didn't earn it, it's a policy fee and you didn't give me a policy. You cancelled it. Give me my money back.
Sincerely,

I had a fire at my home on 19 Aug 2023. My insurance company accepted a proposal between Elite Content Solutions of *****. The contractor (Elite) scheduled a pack out to remove my salvageable and non salvageable items from my home. They were hired to clean my salvageable things and store them until my home was restored to living conditions. Since my home is now restored and I am ready to move back in the insurance company is claiming that they arent paying until they receive the requested documents from Elite. I have spoken with Elite Contents and they said they have sent all the documents regarding their work. So basically, the insurance company is dating one thing, the contractor is saying something totally different and they are unable to make amends. No one is doing anything. The insurance company said its between Elite and myself. However, the insurance company authorized them to begin. My daughter and I have been displaced since Aug 19th. The insurance company said they will not continue extending the hotel room. So now, Ill be moving back in without my basic things.Business Response

In response to the insureds complaint we have sent the insured an email communication which attached the email exchange between Allied Trust and her contractor. The contractor was provided with specific questions and has not yet responded. The contractor is not a perferred vendor of Allied Trust and the agreement for repairs is between the insured and her contractor. Allied Trust has attempted to facilitate resolution of the disputed items and has not had cooperation from the insureds chosen contractor. The undisputed portion of the invoice has been paid. In our communication to the insured we have outlined the specific questions that are in need of a response in order to facilitate resolution. until we receive the documentation that we have requested we are not in a positon to make any additional payments
