On Monday November 4th I had to call this locksmith because I was locked out of my husband's 1999 ***** civic at a ***************** in **********. When the locksmith finally found where I was as he was across the street at the ************. When he opened the passenger door with his tool he ruined the door and it cannot be locked now. We now have to pay extra money to have the door lock replaced and we are on a fixed income and do not have the money to get this repaired. I am requesting a refund of my $175 to get the door lock replacedInitial Complaint

On 9/12/2024 around 8:00 a.m. I called this place to inquire about pricing to unlock a regular house door. At first whomever answered the phone was hesitant on giving me a price, but then asked me for the address to determine the distance. After I gave him my address, he said the charge was going to be no more than $95.00. I thought that was a bit expensive for a regular wooden door with a simple handle lock, so I said, oh no thank you. I will call you back.I called another locksmith and agreed to get help from this other place instead, all I had to do was wait 15 mins for the technician to show up to my home and fix my door for $65.00. Unfortunately, and without my permission, a technician from 10 minute Locksmith showed up to my house, and without identifying himself just said, I am here outside. I assumed it was from the other place so I said, make sure you confirm me how much is it before doing the job. I was at work and my senior citizen mother had locked herself out accidentally and had only access to the garage. The weather was super hot and she was really *********** more than 10 minutes later, I get a notification from my alarm system that the kitchen door was opened, I called my mother, and she said the technician had unlocked the door super quick and that she had paid. When I asked her how much she said she was not given a receipt. I checked the bank and she was charged $145.00. My mom is over 70 years old, and does not speak English. This was an absolute abuse. 1) I thought I had communicated with someone else (different company) 2) I specifically told the guy to call me with the price before doing anything 3) My mother was alone and stressed and did not understand the guy 4) the technician took a photo of her card and her driver's license and did not provide her with a ********** not do business with this place. What was done to my elderly mother is unacceptable and even criminal. A complete abuse.Business Response

This response was taken verbally by BBB:
The customer was provided a price before the work was completed, authorized the work and paid it with a credit card after the work was completed. The customer never contacted us afterward.

I am rejecting this response because:I was out of town when I requested the service. My 73 year old mother who does not speak English was home alone and had locked herself out. I only contacted this place to get a quote over the phone but I did not authorized anyone to get there. I arranged for another locksmith to show up at my home because the service was more favorable.
When a guy showed up at my house, I was convinced it was the second locksmith, and I specifically told the person on the phone to speak to me first before doing anything.
When my mother called me to tell me the door was fixed, and I asked her how much, she didn't know. She was just concerned because the locksmith took a photo of her card and Driver's license with his phone. I got very upset about the whole situation, and got even more upset when I saw she had been charged $145 to open a simple indoor lock.
I called the business upon my return to *****, the next day and I was told someone was going to look into the issue and call me back. No one did and this is why I am submitting a complaint.
The locksmith should have had called me so to get authorization to open the door and he should have told me the price. Instead he took advantage of my elder mother because she did not speak English.
Sincerely,
****** *****Initial Complaint

Horrible experience. Called ahead to get pricing for a lockout. Initially wouldn't give pricing but then asked for a range and was told $70-$100. Price was $140. I was told the locksmith was "very close". Was called and told 30 minutes, but didn't show up for 1 hour. On arrival, unsuccessful in picking a basic deadbolt and had to drill through it, destroying the lock completely. Didn't even bother to try and pick bottom lock and instead used a device to force the door open and cracked the doorframe. Following the service, pressured to fill out a 5 star review in front of the technician and didn't leave until it was completed.Business Response

On Friday 01/19/2023 at 5:34 PM, I called this business and requested help as I needed a new key for my car. I had bought a second hand car and the key the dealership gave me was not cut. My request was specifically for a new key and I was told they could help me. I also explicitly asked about the pricing and I was told that once the employee gets to my vehicle, before he starts doing anything, he will give me a price. The exact opposite happened. Before the employee started doing anything with my vehicle, I told him that my battery was dead and I asked about the price and he said he could not tell me yet; while opening my car door (which I did not request). Once he opened the door, he told me that because the battery was dead he wouldn't be able to access the car's system in order to make a key. If he had told me this prior, I would not have used their service as the only thing I really needed was the physical key to be cut; in case I found myself with a dead battery again and needed to open the car door with the physical key in order to get to the lever for the bonnet.Once he opened the door, he asked me for $100 in cash. I did not receive what I asked for, which was a key. I was not told the price before he started opening the door. I had to wait two hours before he finally showed up. Once I called the business seeking a refund, I was put on a conference call with the manager and the employee who worked on my vehicle. The employee rudely interrupted me as I explained the situation and the manager was not hearing my side either. As a young female in Downtown *****, I am tired of being scammed by businesses such as these.Initial Complaint

On 10/19/2023 I contacted 10 min locksmith for a smart lock which would jam a lot. Sometimes you could fix it sometimes not. They sent a tech. I explained realigning the lock or to move the strike. Tech unknown to me took the strike off chiseled a huge amount of the door frame damaging it and not putting the strike back. He then told me it was fixed and blocked my view while he just locked and unlocked the door not opening it. I paid $175.00. I then looked and he had destroyed the door frame. The wood pieces he chiseled out had my doormat over them so not visible, strike was gone and smart lock was still jamming. I called they requested photos and video which I sent and the history showing it jammed on lock. They told me its fine and the door frame wasnt a mess. ******* has continued to text in a derogatory and threatening manner. I have disputed this purchase but want this company to acknowledge their fault and issue a refund. Also if ******* keeps up in this manner I will file a criminal complaintInitial Complaint

I lost my only key to my 2021 ****** Forester on 10/12/23. 10 Minute Locksmith respond** within 15 minutes and unlock** my car. No key was found in the car. The locksmith report** he did not have a key in his vehicle for the ****** and would return at 8:00 a.m. Friday, 10/13/23. I call** at least 10 times throughout the day, with promises from the call center employees that the key was being pick** up at a warehouse in *********. At 6:15 p.m. I was inform** the employee was on his way from ********* with the key. I call** again at 8:30 p.m and was told the same. My wife call ** again at 9:00 p.m. and was told by the tech he was enroute, but had to help a co-worker with a disabl** vehicle. On Saturday, 10/14/23, the tech came to my house. He spent **** hours (and call** another tech to come help him). They were unable to code the key, but the total charge for two visits was $300 for no resolution and TERRIBLE customer service. I have now work** with another auto locksmith. He found the chip in the key fob provid** by 10 Minute Locksmith was cover** in glue, rendering that key unusable. It will take another day for him to provide a key with a working chip. I drive this vehicle for my living and am now on Day 3 of zero revenue and idle time. I average approximately $200 in daily earnings, thus have now lost $600 in earnings. I seek at least $150 for the second visit, in which they could not resolve my problem and left me with a damag**, unusable key. The terrible customer service, combin** with absence of problem resolution, are my reasons for requesting a refund.Initial Complaint

February 9th, 2023 10 Munute Locksmith I spoke with an individual about getting a key fob made for ********** Elantra. As I made the company aware of my need, they said to me that they would send over a technician to my home to get it done and promised in less than 10 minutes. The technician that they sent over did not show up until 3 hours later and worked on my cars key fob for 45 mins. As I questioned why was it taking so long he explained that they do not have the materials to make the key fob. As this happens, the man leaves and tells me to call the office to send over another technician. As I called the office, they told me that they would send me another tech in the next hour, so now this has become a 4 hour and 45 min Job that was promised to be done in less than 10 minutes. Once they sent over a new tech, the guy did a half a** job and did not close my key fob correctly and tried to push down on it to work. I explained to him that it was not closed properly and he stated Thats the best I can do I paid 75 dollars for this tech. Then called the company and let them know the situation about the wait and how the job was not done properly. The manager told me Im sorry and the next time you need our services its on us1 month later, the key fob has completely fell apart because of not being closed properly. I called the company and the manager began to tell me it sounds stupid, it sounds like you broke it, go f*** yourself, I dont give a ****, f*** you and I dont care if you call the BBB this is completely unacceptable. I explained to the man that he told me he would take care of my situation the first time and he will not honor it. I have never been treated or cursed at in such manner. I would really like a total refund from this company and for the manager to be out of this company. THE CORRECT NUMBER TO THIS COMPANY IS ************
