on 3/6 I bought a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. A week later the dealership went to change the interest rate and raise the price. I told them no that would be a breach of contract. They told me if I didn't want to resign I need to bring the Jeep back which I did on 4/2. They also told me that I would get my downpayment of $1000 back and refused to give it back to me still. I also traded in a 2019 Toyota Corolla as well I asked if they had my old car and they told me no it wasn't there anymore. In that case before I had to return the Jeep I needed to find a new vehicle so I wasn't carless, They told me too bad basically and demanded the Jeep back. I have talked to lawyers as well as a consult with an attorney which they said I was in the right that the dealership breached their contract and broken promises. As well they tried to call my bank that I had the loan with, with the Toyota and put that back into my name without my consent or the vehicle back in my possession, since they told me they basically sold it. The bank had called me which thankfully they did because I had no idea the dealership was going under my feet and trying to screw me back into a loan. The bank told them no the vehicle was theirs and sent the title to them. They still have refused to give me the money back for my downpayment. I filled a dispute with my bank because I have proof they are suppose to refund me. They have been harassing me for the past month and a half. If you look up reviews on their Facebook there are many other stories of other people that have dealt with the same thing. This dealership is a scam, they break promises as well as breach their contracts not only with me but others as well. I was told to contact BBB because what they are doing to me is not right I just want justice as well as my money back. I have all the emails, text messages as well with proof of everything if needed. They also pulled my credit more than once as well.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/25) */ Providing an exceptional guest experience is our mission, and we regret that our customer is disappointed with her recent experience. However, we do not agree with her allegations. Instead, we paid off this customer's car loan, and our dealership has lost more than $5,500.00 because we paid off her entire trade-in vehicle loan on her behalf. Under the terms of the purchase, the customer is supposed to reimburse us for making that payment on her behalf. When the customer came to our dealership to purchase a vehicle, she asked us to assist her in arranging financing, which we did. She signed a conditional delivery which allowed her and us to cancel the purchase if we could not find a lender on terms acceptable to her. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate a bank willing to finance on the terms acceptable to her. We were able to find a competitive lender at a higher rate and hoped she would accept those terms instead. However, for nearly a month, she refused to either accept the new terms, nor would she cancel the purchase nor return our vehicle. She drove our vehicle for several weeks after we informed her of the interest rate change. Finally, she notified us that she intended to cancel the vehicle purchase. In the meantime, we had paid off her $19600.00 outstanding car loan on her trade-in vehicle on her behalf. This payment was made at significant cost to us as the vehicle was worth less than her outstanding loan by approximately $5,500.00. When she cancelled the purchase, we asked her to execute documents to reinstate the loan on her trade-in vehicle so that we could return her trade-vehicle vehicle to her, and so that we could be reimbursed for paying off her loan. She declined to cooperate in reinstating her loan. Because we paid off the loan on her trade-in on her behalf, she now has no car loan and we incurred a loss of approximately $5,500.00 paying off her loan. She also drove our inventory vehicle for nearly a month at no charge before finally electing to cancel the purchase and return it, so our inventory vehicle incurred wear and tear and mileage. Under the terms of our agreement with her, she was supposed to take the trade-in vehicle back or else reimburse us for paying off her loan. She did neither. For these reasons, we elected to keep her $1,000 down payment, as the agreement permits us to do, to offset a small part of the losses we incurred due to her refusal to execute the paperwork to reinstate the loan. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/29) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do not accept the response from the business. They are trying to cover their tracks. They screwed over not only me but many other people who have bought from them in the past. If you look at their Facebook reviews you will see it all. I had asked originally to get my Toyota back but they told me that it was not in their possession anymore. There finance manger that did the paper work with me was initially fired I'm assuming for messing up the paper work but this is not on me. I hadn't heard from the dealership for almost 2 weeks after buying it before I knew the paper work was wrong on their end. The first lie in this is that they said "We were able to find a competitive lender at a higher rate and hoped she would accept those terms instead", it was in fact the same bank that I personally bank with and I can call my bank and get proof of that if needed. They barley helped with trying to assist with arranging finances, they harassed me almost everyday for weeks about this vehicle. I have every text message exchanged with both finance managers as well as the GM from this dealership and emails from my bank personally stating they tried to put the loan for the trade in back in my name without my CONSENT OR VEHICLE BACK IN MY POSSESSION. They told me that if I wasn't going to resign I needed to bring back the vehicle, which I did the NEXT day. I Kelly blue booked the car value for my vehicle and it was $17,500. The dealership could have sold this vehicle for way more with the prices of vehicles going up and the demand for used ones. They are saying again that in the paper work I needed to take my trade in vehicle back but it states in messages with the dealership they did not have my vehicle and it was not in their possession. I WANTED my trade in back. This also forced me to go to another dealership to buy ANOTHER vehicle and pull my credit again before I dropped the jeep off the same day. This dealership is trying to make them look good and say they are eating "$5,500" but they caused me so much stress and anxiety from this. Like I stated in my original claim I had talked to lawyers and an attorney they both said this dealership breached their contract and broken their promises. "However, for nearly a month, she refused to either accept the new terms, nor would she cancel the purchase nor return our vehicle. " This is also a false statement stated by the dealership. As a customer if things change I have the right to accept or decline the right of a new term if it isn't what I had originally signed for and was told I was going to get. I did return the vehicle when the dealership asked for it back the next day. They only asked for it back 1 time. This dealership also had pulled my credit multiple times which I have proof of as well. The fact that I have been dealing with this since 4/6/2022 is beyond. This is stress and anxiety they I do not need or other customers going through similar situations or might go through in the future. I paid $1000 as a down payment for this jeep which I now do not have possession of since returning on 4/2/2022. They told me in texts, I would get my $1000 back once I returned the vehicle, which I still have not gotten. This is their fault on their end that they had to eat "$5,500". They wouldn't have had to do that if they would have given me my vehicle back, when I originally asked if they still had it. I shouldn't have to pay for this. That is my hard earned money that I put down for the jeep that I do not have. In this living situation every cent counts with the cost of things going up and trying to get by. Attached are all the text messages exchanged and emails exchanged. This dealership needs to do the right thing and give me my money back as well take full responsibility for what they have done.

I purchased a used 2018 jeep grand cherokee on October 16, 2021. As of today December 14 2021, the dealer is unable to register and title the vehicle in Florida due to the vehicle being originally purchased and titled in Illinois and Courtesy Chrysler doesn't have the title. I did get a loan at time of purchase however the lender explained that it has to be resolved thru the dealer due to getting the loan thru the dealer. My greatest concern is the dealer being unable to acquire the title. I am making payments on this vehicle and also put a considerable down payment toward the purchase. How can a dealer sell a vehicle that the don't own?

      Business response

      01/20/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/12/15) */ Thank you for the opportunity to look into and respond to our customers concern. At Courtesy CJD, we are committed to providing an excellent guest experience with each transaction. So it goes without saying that we are saddened to hear of our customer's disappointment. Unfortunately, there were unforeseen delays with the IL title office in regards to issuing the title, after our payoff. However, we received the title today and are completing the registration for our customer. In the meantime, we are reaching out to our customer to provide a temporary tag. We want to assure our customer that this does not affect their loan. In the interest of customer satisfaction and goodwill, we would like to provide the next two oil changes at no cost for the inconvenience of the delay.
