Last week, I received a bill from Radiology Associates of Florida (***) for a radiologic exam chest, single view, frontal (CPT Code: *****) conducted on March 4, 2023 for ********************************** (Date of Death: March 5, 2023) at ******************************************, Florida. The account number is *************. It appears on the bill that a claim was submitted to ******** on March 24, 2023 and BCBS Florida on April 18, 2023. There is an outstanding balance of $139.00.Per BCBS Florida, this service was paid in full and there should be no balance. On this date, I called the number, **************, on the *** bill. A customer service representative (overseas call center) could only confirm there appeared to be a balance due. If not paid, this debt now owed by my mothers estate (closed) would be sent to a collections agency. She was unable to provide details such as total cost, payments made by insurance companies, etc. I attempted to call ***s ********* Office and the phone was disconnected. I attempted to speak to a representative at ***s **************** in ***** and no one would answer the phone once it was transferred. In an Internet search, there are a significant complaints that *** billed patients for services after being paid in full for such services by insurance companies. Many of those patients accounts were sent to collection agencies and ultimately paid under duress.Initial Complaint

Subject: BBB Dispute: Incorrect Billing by Radiology Associates of Florida P.A.Dear BBB,I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to file a formal dispute against Radiology Associates of Florida P.A. regarding a billing issue that has caused undue stress and financial burden. I believe that I am being wrongfully billed for my son's CT scan, and I wish to seek a resolution through your assistance. On April 2023, my son underwent a CT scan at SMH, and at the time of the procedure, I provided Radiology Associates of Florida P.A. with my correct and up-to-date insurance information. I have evidence to support this, including documentation of providing my new insurance details on that same day.Despite having the correct insurance information in their possession, Radiology Associates of Florida P.A. inexplicably billed an old insurance policy that they had on file, without verifying the current information I had provided. When I brought this billing error to their attention, their response was both frustrating and unjust. They claimed that the bill was not submitted on time to my correct insurance, which would result in a denial due to "timely filing."I strongly assert that I should not be held responsible for this error on their part. I provided my correct insurance information on the date of service, as evidenced by the records. It is their duty to ensure accurate billing and to promptly submit claims to the correct insurance provider, which they failed to do.In a conversation with Radiology Associates of Florida P.A., they acknowledged their mistake and agreed that I should not be responsible for their failure to bill my correct insurance in a timely manner. However, their subsequent actions are deeply troubling and unacceptable. Instead of rectifying the situation, they maliciously sent me the entire bill, threatening to send it to collections. This behavior by Radiology Associates of Florida P.A. is not only financially unfair but also morally and ethically incorrect. I believe I am the victim of unjust billing practices, and I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter through the BBB. I am seeking a fair and just resolution that absolves me of any financial responsibility for their error.I would appreciate it if the BBB could investigate this issue and facilitate a dialogue between myself and Radiology Associates of Florida P.A. to reach a satisfactory resolution. I have copies of all relevant documentation, correspondence, and records to support my case.Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your assistance in resolving this dispute.Sincerely,*************************** ************************Initial Complaint

I recently started receiving emails from a company Id never heard of before, or had any business dealings with. The name of the company is Radiology Associates of Florida **************************************************************** **************. I Googled the name to get the address and phone number. The emails did not contain any contact information. No phone number, address or account numbers. The email indicated that I owed $1010.00 that was due by August 13, 2023. I have never had any contact with this company or any of its subsidiaries, constitutes or by any other means. Upon Googling this company I found that all of the complaints are exactly the same. This company is extorting money from people. And not just any people, but people who are sick in some kind of way. People who are already dealing with the issues of their illness or illnesses. At least a couple of the reviewers indicated they had contacted the BBB to no avail.? I expect and demand a follow up on this. And I dont want to hear that I have to actually wait to be scammed before I can file a complaint. In the meantime Ill make sure that others become aware of this scamInitial Complaint

I received a bill for $139 that said it was due by 6/8/2023. I sent in $60 on 6/1/2023 the check was processed by the bank and cashed on 6/7/2023. I called on 6/9/2023 to pay the remainder over the phone however I was told that my remaining balance was confidential. The call was then escalated and after a 45-minute conversation, they told me they can not post my payment already paid to my account for 90 days due to an error on their side, and they were extremely rude about it. I am scared that due to an issue on their side, I will be sent to collections and I am trying to get a mortgage soon so my credit really can't take the hit ( this happened the last time I went to the hospital). They also told me I could pay the remainder of my account but that it would also not be able to process for ***************************** their holding with my $60 from earlier in the month please help. I have sent in a photo of both the posted check and the original bill.Initial Complaint

I received a text message on 3 separate occasions stating I had a bill to pay for radiology services from Radiology Associates of Florida a division of MBB Radiology. No date of service or any other specifics were included in the text message other than a link to go pay the amount due. I was not aware of receiving any services from this provider so I called them to inquire as to who they were. They told me they were MBB. I asked where they were located and they said in *****. I had not been to a service provider in ***** so I was concerned this was a scam. They asked me for an account number however their text messages did not contain any such account number. Then they wanted my name, birthdate, address, phone number so they could look up to see if I owed anything. On the basis of feeling like this was some sort of scam, I declined to give them this personal information. Finally after several weeks, a bill came in the mail from Radiology Associates of Florida. I verified with my insurance company that this was indeed an amount I owed. I tried to pay online via their online payment system with the statement account number and my birthdate but the system said I did not have a balance. I called their number and they were not able to give me any explanation as to why I couldn't pay online. My only option was to either mail in a payment or to give them my credit card info over the phone. In this day and age with so many scams going on, I really didn't want to give out my card info but did so. I asked who I could escalate the concern about their confusing text messages and their non working online payment system, and they said "no one, but that they would make note of it". I would like ***** General and Radiology Associates of Florida to ensure their billing process for patients is less convoluted. This faulty process has the likelihood to ruin someone's credit due because it is not clear you are supposed to pay.Thank you!Initial Complaint

Received letter from collection agency today, June 13, 2022 for dates of service from 2019 and 2020, yet never received an actual bill from Radiology Partners until this point of being sent to collections. Timely billing results in timely payment. Being sent to a collection agency up to THREE years after date of service, with no bill ever sent to consumer of service is unruly and unfair. According to statement revived by collection company-Rad associates wrote this charge off 3/23/22 and sold the account to a collection agency thus wiping their hands of it and leaving it on the collection agency to collect money so why am I liable to pay this when it was the original creditor at fault first for not sending me a single bill to notify me of the charges? This is unfair practices to consumers. THREE YEARS and not a single bill from them to now a letter from a collection company demanding payment? Seems pretty backwards to me.
