Please see attached my claim to the business. After a while, they refused to communicate in writing and made a phone call when their manager was extremely rude and dismissive denying any responsibility. I purchased special New Year's cakes for my dogs for 10 dollars at the end of December 2023. As a result, both my dogs had digestive issues (retching, throwing up) due to the cake structure being too 'cementy'. My corgi ended up with a vet for intestinal blockage and narrowly avoided emergency surgery. I would like the business to cover the bill and stop selling these cakes.

As I explained to **** over the phone is that the issue with what his dogs experienced was due to the way his dogs consumed the product of which he had provided video of and not with the product itself. We served many slices of cake without any other reported incident. We will not cover any veterinarian expenses from this claim.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The products sold for human/animal consumptions must be safe to consume. As a customer, I have no way of knowing that some extra-chewiness may lead to my dogs suffering from intestine blockage - unless I am warned of it. The business failed to provide such warning, and marketed all their goods as safe for the animals. I do not believe it is reasonable to expect the dogs to consume a treat in a certain way, especially since that way was not clearly communicated to me.

Hence, I still insist that the business were selling goods being unsafe for consumption without any warnings/disclaimers that lead to my dog suffering from intestinal blockage and me incurring veterinarian costs.

I suggest the business re-considers covering veterinary costs. As a large corporation's franchise marketing itself as a 'local' one that should not be too difficult.

    Sincerely,

    **** *******
